    This is a feature that should be offered on all Horizon Hobby planes! Good idea! When I was learning to fly, SAFE really allowed me to learn. Without SAFE I would have been into my first plane, and out of the plane in a week. Now I don't need SAFE, and use AS3X or some form of stabilization on my more challenging aircraft, but having SAFE for a maiden would be GREAT!

    Brian Phillips. This comment does it. I will just keep safe on for Maiden. I wonder if I have to rebind to disassociate safe select from the switch I set it to or if there is a way to take it off. I have it on the gear switch with Dx6e.

    The implementation of SAFE is absolutely perfect with this plane. The ability to not feel incumbents by the feature is so simple, and assigning a switch is just as simple. Fantastic work, guys! I'll be fine w just the AS3X, but I love that with the SAFE features, I'd be comfortable with handing my transmitter to a novice to enjoy this beautiful plane. Now... HURRY UP, JUNE!! Lol! I also appreciate that Horizon Hobby decided to model the MK XIV rather than the IX. There are plenty of those out there. Lastly, THANK YOU for making even the wheel hubs nicely scale and with a spring coil in the trunnions. SOOOO many reasons to be excited about this plane. Can't wait!!!!

    Spitfire looks good! SAFE Select works ok. My Timber came with it. I learned to fly with the S15 Apprentice a couple of years ago and now fly a mix of planes, some with no gyro at all. I prefer the 3 level SAFE system like the Apprentice over SAFE Select, but both versions work and help make flying more enjoyable and easier for anyone to do.

    Can the DXe be used to fly this plane? I binded my DXe to this plane and my switches are messed up. The Flight mode switch is the gear switch and the panic button controls the flaps? I downloaded the programmer and it doesn't have an option to assign channels.

  • @mzgarage

    So what you are saying is that if I am using a DX6 then if I turn on the SAFE it will still have the 6 channel control with flaps and gear on their own channel, but it just uses a secondary channel of one of those to turn SAFE on or OFF?

  • @hifinsword

    @hifinsword

    5 жыл бұрын

    The Rx can use up to 9Chs but your Tx is limited to 6. So no, you have to put the FM switch on one of your 6 used channels, most likely the Flaps. If you had a 7 or 8 or higher channel count Tx, then yes. Your Tx limits you, not the Rx.

    No beginner and intermediate modes, although the SAFE ON mode is like a beginner mode and SAFE OFF is like an advanced mode. Those are the 2 modes - SAFE ON or SAFE OFF. It's called SAFE SELECT b/c you select either SAFE ON or SAFE OFF if you setup a switch to change modes. What this video doesn't tell you is that you have to be in HIGH RATES in order to assign your Flight Mode (FM) switch.

    Can you assign SAFE to the Bind button I have a DX6 and would rather not share the gear channel with the SAFE - another question- if you have assigned SAFE to a switch (or maybe the bind button?) and then you decide you don't want it how would you UN-assign it and not have it assigned to anything ? would you just rebind and not activate the safe option ?

    @@davidtop6242 Your answer is reasonable but I recently bought a Spitfire warbird for the purpose of learning to use my rudder well during take off and landings - and to develop my tail dragger type airplane skills - I DON'T WANT help on takeoffs and landings by SAFE - I want to develop and maintain those skills - SO - my question is can I assign the SAFE option to the BIND button so it DOES NOT share the gear channel or any other of the 1-6 channels on my DX6.

    I wish that feature was available in the sukhoi su 29mm's receiver, more specifically its stability mode ( the self correct) feature is annoying and its precision mode is fine for takeoffs and fast flight but not so much for landing as it lacks in elevator authority to abort a landing i.e. Landing in a head wind and the wind stops causing the inevitable tip stall, I am a fan of as3x I just don't like limitations on flight envelopes.

    DeucesWild RC. I would like to have a mode of no flight envelope, but safe so I release the sticks and it self levels. If you can't practice a barrel role you can't practice. Also, by giving the remote to a child and then take it back and it levels without having to take it back and flip a switch. My kid wants to do and see flippies when they are flying. The full experience but still safe.
