YOU CAN FLY A JET!
Nearly everyone who sees a radio controlled (RC) jet tear across the sky has the same reaction: “I want to fly one of those!” But because of their speed and handling challenges, RC jets have been almost impossible for first-time or low-time RC pilots to fly successfully - until now. Thanks to the E-flite® Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE®) 70mm EDF jet, you can actually learn to fly RC airplanes successfully with a jet! The Habu STS 70mm EDF is based on the legendary Habu, one of the best high-performance Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) sport jet platforms ever created. E-flite® engineers optimized the design to improve its low speed handling and slow speed performance and added options for taking advantage of exclusive Spektrum™ SAFE® flight assistance technology and innovative Smart components. As a result, the Habu STS 70mm EDF is the easiest to fly RC jet EVER, and the perfect choice to satisfy any RC pilot’s desire to fly a jet!
OPTIMIZED FOR EASY FLIGHT
Engineered for improved low speed handling and performance to make flying and landings easier, the E-flite® Habu STS (Smart Trainer with SAFE®) 70mm EDF makes it possible to succeed in learning to fly with a jet as your first radio controlled (RC) airplane! Based on one of the best Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) sport jets ever designed, it’s been optimized with the addition of SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology featuring Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced flight modes to make it easy to fly successfully, especially with the help of an instructor. The inclusion of exclusive Spektrum™ Smart components including a lithium polymer (LiPo) battery and charger make it more convenient to charge properly and safely (battery and charger sold separately for the PNP version). Wide-stance tricycle landing gear with a steerable nose wheel and oversized tires allows for takeoffs and landings on surfaces ranging from paved runways to grass and even dirt, plus you can install the optional Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) that automatically "flares" for smoother landings to make learning to land even easier! Best of all, the durable EPO airframe assembles quickly and easily without the need for glue or special tools - which means you can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery.
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes everything needed to fly in one box and is the perfect choice if you're a new RC pilot. From the Spektrum DXS 2.4GHz transmitter you can use with other Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) and BNF Basic aircraft after you learn to fly the Habu STS, to the 3S 4000mAh Smart LiPo battery and a convenient S120 USB-C Smart charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources, there's nothing extra you need to buy or provide! A Plug-N-Play® (PNP) version lets experienced modelers choose and use their own transmitter, receiver, battery and charger. And for both versions, the powerful brushless power system including a telemetry-capable ESC and the servos are all factory-installed.
And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! In the Experienced Mode, the Habu STS 70mm EDF is capable of performing aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, inverted (upside down) flight and more. You can use a 3S battery (included with the RTF version, sold separately for the PNP version) for an excellent balance of power and flight time, or you can install an optional 4S battery for more speed and thrust without the need for any modifications or upgrades (4S battery and compatible charger sold separately for both versions).
As a bonus, the RTF version also includes a Spektrum WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle plus a Steam code to download and activate the RealFlight® Trainer Edition RC flight simulator - a combined value of almost $80! The simulator features six popular Horizon Hobby trainer aircraft, including the Habu STS 70mm EDF jet, and built-in Virtual Flight Instructor lessons. This helps new pilots learn to fly successfully by practicing on a PC at home or on a laptop just about anywhere else! Plus, you can upgrade to the latest full edition of RealFlight at a discounted price.

A video explaining how to do it all would be even better, but any help would be appreciated since it's impossible to get through to phone support. PS I looked on the spektrum website and didn't see anything listed for this plane. BTW I'd pay the extra for a bnf. Its a bummer.

    IMHO, Let's see - Three awesome VERY informative videos by Jason explaining just about anything and everything you would want to know about Horizon Hobby's (HH) LATEST, GROUND BREAKING and REVOLUTIONIZING RC industry INVENTION AND the forth video by the INCOMPARABLE Ali and HH company showing how this jet leaves just about no doubt how WIDE a flying envelope this INCREDIBLE jet has to offer to the BEGINNER through the different levels of flying skills up to EXPERIENCED. I truly believe that you get AT LEAST TWO JETS in/for ONE with this INVENTION, and INVENTION indeed because NO manufacture has EVER made a "FIRST TIME, LEARNING to FLY" BEGINNER TRAINER JET. Isn't technology GREAT!!! - Thank you HH for thinking "out of the box".... AGAIN and making this hobby APPROACHABLE and ENJOYABLE to SOOO many more people that may have never thought of trying this hobby out. I can say that from numerous experiences I have seen at the flying field. 🙏😊

    This has been my first ever rc plane and when they say durable I'm not sure what that means but I assumed it's Latin for Tuff as fark!because mine has taken some pretty hard emergency landings and I'm sure mine was sent back in time and originally built by skynet because the first time up and she was a screaming eagle and then i got the power warning ....ohh what do i do now???I looked at my six year old son and said"this is your captain speaking please lock your meal trays in the upright position bring your seats forward and brace for impact"and he looked and said"huh?"I quickly replied "do as I say now....grab the dog and run for it" I reckon she hit the cricket pitch at half speed nose slightly dipped bounced then bounced again this time about 50mtrs more than allowed for just after the second bounce it cleared a wire fence minus the front landing gear that fell there and then expecting to see nothing but little foam balls I finally got to the fence looked over and there it was perfectly intact with the red battery light just visible under the now unclipped cockpit as a voice came from it that sounded like it said ...John Connor?.... and she still flies beautifully!!!....and my landings have improved a ton as well.....thank you elite.....skyne

  • @HorizonHobbyProducts

    @HorizonHobbyProducts

    That's definitely not an apples to apples comparison...especially because the F-16 is BNF Basic and the Habu STS is an RTF ;) The RTF version of the Habu STS includes a Spektrum DXS transmitter which is a $99.99 value ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/dxs-transmitter-only/SPMR1010.html ), a Spektrum Smart 3S 4000mAh 30C battery which is a $54.99 value ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/4000mah-3s-11.1v-smart-lipo-battery-30c-ic3/SPMX40003S30.html ), a Spektrum Smart 120 charger which is a $19.99 value ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/s120-usb-c-smart-charger-1x20w/SPMXC1020.html ), RealFlight Trainer Edition which is a $39.99 value ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/realflight-trainer-edition-for-steam-download-only/RFL1205D.html ) and a Spektrum WS2000 Wireless USB Simulator Dongle which is a $39.99 value ( www.horizonhobby.com/product/ws2000-wireless-simulator-usb-dongle/SPMWS2000.html ). Those components alone add up to $254.95, which means you're basically getting the Habu STS with a 70mm fan and motor, 70A telemetry-capable ESC, 5 servos, a flight controller and receiver for $145 at the RTF package price of $399.99. That's also only $50 more than the E-flite Apprentice STS RTF ($349.99), and $100 more than the HobbyZone Carbon Cub S 2 RTF ($299.99), which actually makes the Habu STS RTF a very good value overall when compared to other popular RTF trainers!

    We just looked at page 19 in the manual here: www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dw1ff64496/Manuals/EFL01500-manual-en.pdf And yes, unfortunately the wrong direction is shown for elevator trimming! If any airplane is drifting downward you should add "up" trim by pulling back/down on the elevator trim lever. Our many apologies for this error and we will have it corrected as soon as possible!

  • @HorizonHobbyProducts

    @HorizonHobbyProducts

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes! SAFE will automatically be assigned to the A switch on the NX8. That is a 2-position switch so you will only be able to use the Beginner and Experienced flight modes with that "default" configuration. If you want to use the Intermediate mode as well, you will simply need to assign Channel 5 to the 3-position B switch instead (this is very quick and easy to do in the NX8!). Then you will have the same Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced modes as the stock DXS transmitter.

    4 жыл бұрын

    The first shipments are on the way to our EU warehouse now and should be arriving around the middle of August! Also, no BNF Basic option for this one due to the added cost associated with the flight controller (which includes a barometer that offers the "invisible floor" functionality, makes upgrading to the LAS and other functions possible) and serial receiver included in the RTF version. Those cost more than an AR636 or AR637T receiver, and would have made the price for a BNF Basic version about $60 more than the PNP version.
