Who Should Buy the Dyson V15 Vacuum?
I would recommend the Dyson V15 if you’re looking for the following features in a cordless stick vacuum:
Absurdly Good Suction: The V15 Detect has an amazing 230 AW of suction power in Boost mode. This is the most of any cordless vacuum on the market.
Cleaning Heads & Tools: You’ve got the High Torque head, washable Fluffy head, upgraded mini motorized brushroll, and the standard set of accessories. The V15 Detect really takes the attachment and tools from Dyson to the next level.
A way to remove invisible debris: The V15 is one of the first vacuums we’ve ever tested that puts so much effort into making invisible debris such a priority. The laser light on the Fluffy makes it easier to see fine particles as you clean and the on-board sensors are constantly scanning in the background to improve performance let you know exactly what needs to be cleaned.
Advanced digital display: The digital display allows you to see the current cleaning mode, estimated remaining run time, and all of the data generated about the particles on your floor or other surfaces.
Automatic adjustments: The internal Piezo sensor automatically detects what kind of debris is on the floor and adjusting accordingly. In addition, sensors on the cleaning heads can also adjust for varying floor heights. Eco and Boost cleaning modes allow you to easily adjust the suction level manually or you can set it on Auto and let it adjust automatically.

I bought the V15 earlier today after considerable research; it's my first Dyson. I have hardwood floors and ceramic tile on my main floor, with carpet in the basement and upstairs. I thought the laser would be a gimmick...it is NOT a gimmick. I'm a skeptical and frugal consumer...after the first use, though, I am convinced this was the right choice.

Nice! Glad to hear you like it. As someone who owns every V-series Dyson, the V15 is a definite and considerable step up. The laser, washable fluffy head, particle sensor, hair screw, and anti-tangle brushroll really take it to the next level relative to previous models (including the Outsize and V11).

"...considerable research.... skeptical and frugal.." Says the guy who bought the most expensive, most recently released, highest marketing budgeted and least scrutinized (due to lack of time for consumer reports) cordless vacuum on the market. You're going to be happy with this vacuum, that I'm sure of. But your fooling yourself if you think you bought it for any reason other than excellent marketing.

If buying new getting V15 over V11 or anything else seems like a pretty smartthing to do if thinking long term.

I also never thought I would buy a $700 vacuum cleaner. After quite a bit of research, I was convinced the $700 Dyson V15 Detect is the best buy and one to get right now. UPDATE: got it today, I am so incredibly impressed by it. It successfully cleaned my back floor mats just using 'Auto' mode, which both my old corded vacuum and 6HP ShopVac struggled to clean. It is also so easy to use, battery powered is the way to go. Anyone thinking about getting one, don't hesitate, it is simply awesome

We received ours a couple of days ago. My wife and I patiently waited for the battery to charge, then spent the next hour taking turns with it. It's awesome. The laser isn't a gimmick. I got a V15 today, I would say all around it is just excellent. James Dyson and his team of engineers did an excellent job on this vacuum. In every way from performance to ease of use the V15 Detect is a class leading product. Overall I think it is actually a better value than the previous V11 torque, as it is about 20% more powerful, has the updated anti-hair clog torque head, the new fluffy detect laser head, and slightly better battery life. Weight is about the same, it is certainly not that heavy. The dust bin is actually quite large and is very very easy to empty clean. The LED screen is top notch, but i didn't really care about that part of it that much.

what suction are you using in the carpeting areas? I'm finding the standard carpet in my house is too much for auto, even with the gates all the way open - I can feel the suction latch on and the motor stalls. I can only use it on ECO mode without that happening.

  • @ModernCastle

Typically we're able to use boost / max mode with the gates closed on all of our tests (excluding cereal, which ends up getting pushed forward). However, we do have one ultra thin rug in our studio that only works with auto mode for reasons similar to the ones you've described. It really seems to vary by carpet.

So Best Buy is now selling the Dyson V11 Outsize for $640 as clearance to make room for its exclusive version which comes with updated accessories. With this price drop… do you think it’s worth it over the V15? The Outsize does come with two batteries which makes this seem like a good deal despite it using the older torque head.

  • @ModernCastle

    @ModernCastle

    3 жыл бұрын

That's definitely a good price. However, I think it still comes down to whether or not the extra features of the Outsize are going to be of use to you. 2 batteries are great, but do you expect you'll often need a backup battery during a single cleaning session? If you have an extra large home the benefits of the Outsize start to matter more. The extra battery, 25% larger cleaning head, 50% larger dust bin. However, if you don't those features really may not matter all that much.

In general, it's okay to leave it plugged in. Dyson's V-series has a built in thing that will stop charging once it's full. So you aren't damaging your battery by leaving it plugged in. Love my V8, but gifted it to a family member. Time for the V15. James Dyson is likely wrong to state the battery will last for 15 years. To clarify, Dyson only said that about the V10, not the V8. Since it was said about the V10 I am assuming it's the same or better battery on the V11 and V15. However, there's more than enough data about the V8 to show it's battery life is closer to the 4'ish year range.
