Dyson DC54 Cinetic Cylinder - After Refurb, it rips the carpet up now!

Ғылым және технология

The DC54 Cinetic cylinder is a tricky beast for the faint of heart. Let me show you inside the cyclone, and we'll assemble every single air path together, and see if we've given this old girl her airflow back!

Well done Sam! I nearly lost the will to live when I took one of them apart, screws were so hidden with dust I couldn't find the buggers for hours - I swore a lot.

Yea they can get buried for sure! Worse when they rust, I had to drill a fair few of these out

I used to have one of those back when they were new, it was a pretty nice machine for hard floors and a few rugs but when we moved it couldn’t cope with the carpets and the motor died when dad used it to suck the air out of one of those vacuum storage bags

This was my first vacuum cleaner repair for free. The lady said it was overheating and loud squrling noise. It's very naughty of Dyson saying they are a filter free vacuum. As you know. The motor filter was rammed full of compacted dust. All cleaned and working well. New turning hose. And sold for with £40 profit.

That cyclone has more layers to it than James dysons history🤣

Absolutely amazing job Sam like always. It takes A LOT of engineering and testing to get those cyclones working and Dyson has always done it best way in the bagless systems. Now one thing is that these do not like abuse at all. People need to realize that they are meant to be used only in normal household conditions. Also overfilling the bin is a bad idea and all the gaskets need to seal like designed. I sound like a... Let's just leave it there 😄 My only con is limited airflow compared to the bagged vacs, but Dyson has designed so good nozzles that it really doesn't matter much. And these look like the best modern art.

Thanks! All the engineering does work well when not abused, and thats always what makes it a bit tricky with dysons. Yes we laugh when their killed by a small bit of plaster dust but their not supposed to be used for that at all... Nothing like the roar of a spotlessly clean cinetic cyclone though 👌

I have a final generation cinetic now after 3 years still excellent suction took it apart and the cyclones still look clean just some fine dust on the inside of the fine dust chamber if used properly it really works just no big mess tests, stress tests, or diy indeed

Nice! I agree, they do work really well, but for the narrow use case band their designed for! Use it correctly and it should last well, they don't suffer from perishing gaskets or other annoying traits that I've seen over the years 👌

Great job Sam, yikes what an over complicated set up, great Idea in theory , but Dyson was brave to launch this machine, needless to say the machines fail much easier than a Dyson with pre filtration, especially with most general consumer users.
