Btw there is a guy in sweden that sells ECUs for the 20V that raise the revlimiter to 7800 rpm. Always dreamed of slapping one of those bad boys into mine, but didnt have money at the time.

    telling you - a proper working VVIS is a better manifold than what replaced it.. it's the best of both worlds! ya'll basically needed tuning to be back to where it already was lol i dont want to have to rev out to 7,000rpm for peak power, when i'd already had it under 4,000 with the VVIS manifold.. now that this project is over, all you guys basically did was keep raising the PEAK power for incremental gains, by sacrificing all your low end.. and it was only a sub 20+hp gain in the end.

    A stock p2 2.4 NA engine makes 170hp on paper, but that`s to the crank I suppose. This is a built engine, so it should make more, I hope working VVT will make a big difference.

  • @fcpeuro

    @fcpeuro

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yep, 170hp to the crank. We are reading wheel horsepower which typically has 15% hp loss through the drivetrain. So 170hp - 15% would be 144.5 wheel horsepower. We made 155 wheel horsepower which is a 10hp increase so, essentially 180hp to the crank. We definitely think there is some hidden potential with more tuning and functioning VVT!!

While painting the original manifold out of my 2001 S60 2.4i, I briefly installed an ME7 manifold (pulled from a 2002 2.4T AWD). looking at only peak HP ignores the area under the curve. It's the total area under the curve that makes the car faster, not the peak HP it only hits for a millisecond. Your area under the HP and Torque curves were substantially increased, resulting in the great increase in power that you feel when driving. You are feeling the increase in HP through the lower RPM's when you are driving, not the 7,000 RPM HP. I hope that makes sense.....

    You have a very good point, Nathan. However, currently with no functioning VVT, we have lost power and torque under the curve, with the cam timing essentially at full retard position we have a very very peaky engine that makes all the power between 5-7k rpm. Peak torque is at 5k rpm and peak power at 6500. With functioning VVT we hope to see a significant increase in power and torque under the curve!

    Wait didn't you cut the valve head in an angle to make the air flow in a a way combustion would be higher? Like twr did?

    i know what the problem here is... IT'S AN NA 850 BRO. you guys aren't the 1st to try and make power with this configuration. iPd tried it, ARD has tried it and countless enthusiasts have tried it. i guess ya'll didnt see RobertDIY's video when he'd said "if you want more power out of your NA 850, sell it and get a turbo car..." and now i see this car in FCPs parking lot with rusty rotors and the trunk packed with parts just sitting.

    Isn't that less power than a 20V? Seems like a great car though, can only imagine how good it feels with all that bracing and the coils

    Why are yall running it so rich? for n/a you should be around 13.0ish AFR, the further away from 12 the better, up to a point where it runs to lean and loses power or burns a hole in the piston.

    Of course! A very special rule-bending cylinder head! Our cylinder head is nowhere near as special, but we still hope to develop this engine and car further.
