The rivalry with Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes was one of the best rivalries of the 80's. On one side you got Dusty Rhodes, son of a plumber, representing the middle class blue collar workers. On the other side, you have Ric Flair, with the lear jets, limos and the women, etc. Dusty had the shuck and jive soul type promo, Ric Flair always bragged about having the "biggest house on the biggest hill" and "kissed every woman in the world and made em cry" etc. Their world title matches against each other were always great. Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair always brought out the best in each other but in the end, it all came down to who was the better man.

@@richieanderson3040 Hey, brother! First, thanks for your service and sacrifice. Your family's too. People don't understand they serve too. From '88 to we left for Desert Shield/Storm, I was in 4th Battalion 70th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Erlangen West Germany. Man, I miss Germany. That place was awesome back then. What about you, brother? Take care of yourself! Cheers! ✌

@@TheMichaelBeck Definitely Mike, my sentiments as well. I was stationed in Nurenberg actually Furth from 89' to 92'. I was in F. Co 123rd support battalion and I did the whole Desert Storm thing. But, again, I want to echo your sentiments Germany was and still is the greatest duty station I ever had. So many days I reminisce about the camaraderie I had with my brothers and the Love German women had for us, let me rephrase that because Germany was like NY just a big melting pot of different nationalities that loved us (lol). Also, I loved it so much I thought about finishing my last yr and staying there. But, unfortunately when I reenlisted my post closed and I ended up going to the worst duty station there is..imo and that's Ft.Drum..Actually, I try to go back once a yr but you wouldn't recognize it now; it's changed so much and because American presence isn't as prevalent as it once was our culture and influence there has changed. Also, I used to party every wk'n in Munich and you have to realize at least for me that would've been my college yrs and partying in Munich and Nurnberg was ''UNBELIEVABLE''..Well, take care of yourself and it's always cool talking to one of my Army Brothers!!!!!

@@richieanderson3040 My favorite club was in Nuremberg. If you know of or say that you were there when I was, I'll shite and fall back in it. "The Green Goose". It was a block away from the McDonald's in the city center and near the train station, next to "The Wall", a short walk from the red light district. You remember the "Goose", I'll be blown away. I went to Furth a few times. Never made it Munich but went to Heidelberg 3 times. I'm really disappointed that I never went to Normady and paid my respect to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Yes, the people loved us. I loved throwing MREs and candy to the kids as we drove through Erlangen with our tanks. Kids loved it, adults, not so much. Especially when some idiot tears up the curb or road with the tank. They learned quickly not to get behind us like they did the M60A3. Our M1A1 jet turbine would melt the paint and plastic on their cars in less than a minute. All great memories. The beautiful, amazing, and affectionate 😉 ladies. They LOVED us American soldiers. Best beer in the world, best job I ever had, best time of my life. Take care of yourself, brother! 🇺🇸🤜☠🇷🇺☠🤛🇺🇦

@@TheMichaelBeck Aah Man small world. If you were stationed in Nurnberg/Furth everyone knows the ''Green Goose''..that's one of the most iconic spots in that area along with Club ''Maryland'' & Club Hollywood in downtown Nurnberg..I partied there quite often, but just to break the monotony me & my friends would travel to Munich to get away from the same faces we saw all week lol..And I feel the same way I didn't get a chance to visit Normandy to pay my respects but at that time life was coming at us so fast and so much to do and not enough time to do it. As I said before I miss it more than anything in this world I relive something everyday about my time in Germany and I try to tell my friends they have to go just to experience the culture...America will always be home but Germany isn't that far behind because I consider that my home away from home..Just typing this feels me up with so many emotions & memories and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about my Brother...So, take care and never forget those Good Times in Deutschland because it'll never forget us.......

My dad turned me onto him when I was younger, and he immediately became a favorite of mine. He was the embodiment of a working class guy. I cannot recommend his "Hard Times" speech enough because it's beyond wrestling. Rest easy big fella.
I remember watching him for the first time and I was like, this guy is so awesome and it’s sad that he is gone but still to this day I wish I can meet him and just shake his hand and tell him how influential and inspiring he is because Dusty Rhodes is in my top ten believe it or not

Dusty is a legend! Watching him give that power elbow to Ric Flair back in the day, EPIC & I loved every minute of it! Thank you for the memories American dream! I too am a son of a plumber!
Seeing Gordon Solie young is a trip. I caught him in the 80s with GCW but especially when he was in Southeastern and Continental because I'm from Birmingham and was 6 to 12 years old when he was here. Too young to realize the legend I was looking at every Saturday morning and in person at the Boutwell.
My all-time favorite wrestler. I saw him wrestle at the Tampa armory with Gordon Sollie doing the TV back in '74. Great memories.

Sorry y'all but I'm from Tampa Florida and this is where the soul started no where else and I will take these good times to my death bed ...r.i.p. Big Dust✊️👊🏽

Dusty was my greatest hero in the wrestling world. I loved him like I knew him personally. There will NEVER be another one like The American Dream Dusty Rhodes!!! Continue to Rest In Peace my friend.
At first, I didn't get why Dusty is so beloved, cuz I was born in the ruthless aggression era, after watching some of his match, some of his promos, I realized that Dusty is way ahead of his time, A people's man, a very charismatic wrestler that hooks you in in his matches whether he lose or win. He really was the embodiment of American Dream, and to see his sons, to be successful in their own way, makes me root for the Rhodes even more.
Its kind of sweet hogan is wearing a Macho Man shirt.

Those Dusty/Flair feuds were awesome. Some of the best promos and matches. Great times.
I didn't get why Dusty was popular, based on his actual style of wrestling, and looks, but he was a charismatic funny actor, and super beloved by kids all over the Carolinas
Growing up as a kid I saw Hulkamania and by middle school the Attitude Era was in full effect. My Grandma introduced Wrestling to me. I thought I’d seen it all but it looks like her era was great too 😂 Dusty Rhodes is awesome.
All I can say is Dusty made wrestling in the 70s damn good rasslin'.....
There'll never be another like Dusty...and that's the way it should be. Rest in power, sir.
VERY entertaining. Never a bad match. WWF put him in polka dots, that was low blow BUT Dusty delivered. I think his last statement here, being a good father... Watch the in ring Promo of Dusty & Dustin in WCW and Dusty asking Dustin to let him tag with him... Very heart warming.
Dusty, Kerry Von Eric , and Junk Yard Dog was my three favorite wrestlers...
Awesome! All the greats from back in the day. Dusty & Randy macho man were the 2 guys that made wrestling entertainment. Great times & so much FUN!!!!

One of the greatest to ever do it...I loved Dusty Rhodes as a kid and until this day, he's my second favorite wrestler of all time (Rick Flair). My grandmother (RIP) would take my sister and me to see Dusty wrestle every time he came to Savannah, Georgia. He was her favorite. She had polio and walked with a crutch but had no problems getting up those stairs at the Civic Center to see her guy. So many memories.
Rick n Dust made my childhood so much better…. Lots of love guys….
Dusty rhodes my favorite!I never forget the 1981 match vs Harley race
Love him the big man was one of the best and just so fast and just something else to see
There were entertaining wrestlers before Dusty, but it was like he said, "I"m gonna take it to a new level." Which he did in the ring and on the microphone. The guy worked to make it all worth watching.

Saw him wrestleivw many times vs the great kabuki. Memorable matches I will remember forever. Long live the American Dream.
Always my favorite, and as a kid in the 70s, more than a few real fights were started by us pretending to wrestle, but not knowing the moves were somewhat faked! I dropped some real bionic elbows during that time! LOL!
He is my all-time favorite wrestler!
Get funky like a monkey… The Bionic Elbow I use to wine and dine with King and Queen… Dusty Rhodes was my favorite character coming up. Love watching him on Saturday nights on TV and Monday Night Live… Between the Rock and Stone Cold talking trash, First they Dusty Rhodes… RIP
My all time favorite wrestler! Rest easy Dusty!
I'm glad I lived during the time this man walked the earth. 40 years from now, history will record this great man for future generations. But I had front row seat to see him in the south and the NE. RIP American Dream. Gone too soon
Oh yeah Dusty in Tampa The bionic elbow watched plenty of nights down at the armory loved it
The greatest, if you will!!
I was first introduced to Dusty Rhodes when he wore the polka dot outfit, and, although I thought he looked ridiculous, you couldn't deny the passion he had for the business.
That classic Heel turn when Rhodes put the first Bionic Elbow upside of Pak Song Nam's Noggin and the subsequent selling of the move by Pak Song is some of the best stuff in CWF history.
I'm guessing this is from WWE as they had to edit out "WCE Champion". Pretty sad, just play the clip as it was. At the end when he says he wants to be remembered as a good father and husband and smiles at the camera, I feel like that was what he wanted everyone to see after he passed. Thanks for all the memories, Dusty.
We caught The American Dream fever as kids and it never dies❤🧡💛
Dusty Rhodes, Briscoe Bros and Eddie Graham I watched as a kid Championship Wrestling from Florida at the Fort Hesterly Armory in Tampa
That last comment ✌️
He was for sure one of my favorites.
I'm in my 50s and every match The American Dream had was awesome. Never wanted it to end . To The American Nightmare hope you can live up to your father's legacy. Long live The DREAM Baby. ❤ 🙏
I first saw Dusty Rhodes on World Wide Wrestling (NWA) over 40 years ago, when I was in my early teens. This guy had a verbal gift, as well as a ton of energy and charisma. Whenever Dusty came onto the screen, I knew that, to paraphrase UWF’s/WWE’s good ol’ JR (Jim Ross), business was about to pick up.
My favorite of all time ❤

My earliest memories in the 80's my brother and I would see Dusty on NWA on Saturday nights and we would beat each other into oblivion. He would talk and we were captivated. We went nuts when he'd come in for a save versus the heels. Dusty moved people. He was a true genius
