@@obi-nine1504 depends how define modern era. Probably should prefaced it with midfielders. Was talking about the current generation of players. Judd certainly isn’t a part of that. Not that he statistically matches Martin anyway. champion data has had danger and dusty in the top 3 current players since For 5-6 years. The point I was making was simply these two all Time greats are remarkably similar in season stats but are differentiated in finals. You can even make the same case for the great Gary Ablett. Who may just be the best overall stats wise year on year. But his finals record doesn’t stack up next to martins. A bloke whose kicked 10.2 while averaging 24.5 touches in grand finals. Or that champion data ranks as best on ground in 12 of his 14 finals. It really just depends on how you measure best.

This is coming from a collingwood supporter but when leigh matthews himself says that dustin martin is one of the ONLY players he doesn't feel offended being compared to, that means dusty is on a whole other level

Lethal Leigh didn't say Dusty is "one of" the only players he doesn't feel offended being compared to he said Dusty is the ONLY player he doesn't feel offended being compared to. Best player I've seen since Gary Ablett Sr, so that's a generation - thousands of players, hundreds of top players, and dozens of champions. He's better than all of them. Go Dusty!!!

Every kick within 55m was a shot on goal. He just mis-kicked that banana with the wet ball or it would have been 5 goals.

one thing i loved about this grand final was the game being close for 3 and a hlaf quarters. Dusty claiming his spot as probably one of the best grand final and finals players and gary abletts retirement.

I watched those 3 myself and K B is still number one only just now because of his body of work. Martin closing fast and Royce had a special presence and possibly the best kick for a tiger I ever saw.

Still 4 years later, as a die hard Tiger, one of the greatest to ever pull on the Yellow and Black and maybe even in the game. In my opinion this is the greatest individual performance of all time. He single-handedly flipped the game on its head and kept us in the game, put us in front, gave us some breathing room and his last goal. Wowee

Just flick Danger out of bounds then snap a goal from the boundry really good to watch....Great season Tigers......

Well done Dusty on Norm Smith no.3 not only turning it on for the regular season but pretty much always turning it on come finals time.I think you can do your best on Dusty but just very difficult to keep him quiet such a Star:)

Twice. Could have had Martin and Fyfe. Dusty has missed about 10 games in 11 seasons so already on 244 including 15 finals and he has 4 years left on his contract. Scary.

I've been saying all week that the best grand final goal I've seen was Hodgy's... Until I saw Dusty's. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved that 2014 goal but Dusty read the play, shrugged off a tackle and kicked basically the same goal as Hodgy, just under more pressure.

Richmond switched on after half time. Dangerfield played one of the worst games of his entire career and Geelong had far too many passengers. Not rigged, purely outplayed. Maybe if the cats didn't miss there chances in the second quarter you'd be celebrating instead of complaining.

None of those players have 3 norm smiths. And it was 4 incredible goals. Luke Hodge called him the best finals player to play and I'm not too sure he's a Richmond fan. Leigh Matthews said that Dusty is the only player that he doesn't get offended by when getting compared to Leigh, not too sure that he's a Richmond fan either. No one has said that they are better than Hawks, Pies and Geelong, just said they've been as dominant. Now I'd definitely say that they were better than the saints for obvious reasons. But instead of bashing the team that so clearly has been the most dominant for a significant portion of the decade, why don't you make it to 3 grand finals, kick a collective of 10 goals and 72 disposals between them? Absolute nuffy.
