Duran Duran were one of the most popular groups in the world during the 1980s due to their revolutionary music videos that played in heavy rotation in the early days of MTV. Taylor played with Duran Duran from its founding in 1978 until 1997, when he left to pursue a solo recording and film career. He recorded a dozen solo releases (albums, EPs, and video projects) through his company "Trust The Process" over the next four years, had a lead role in the movie Sugar Town, and made appearances in a half dozen other film projects. I‘ve been a devoted DD fan from 1982 onwards & love John in a way that’s hard to put into words...almost a kind of familial way, though I’ve never even met him. I used DD when I was a kid as an escape from my own problems with an alcoholic parent. DD was my safe space, a place to mentally retreat to when real life became too much. I‘m forever grateful for the peace of mind I got from that escape. Then, to find out years later that John was suffering through the alcoholism too, at the time I was relying on him to distract me from the alcoholic in my family.🤦🏻‍♀️ I was running to the exact thing I was escaping from...wow. I’m always amazed at that. I’ve always wanted to tell him thank you for being my safe place at a time when he likely felt unhinged & out of control, himself. He may call it his narcissistic period, but he was still immensely helpful to others without even knowing it.❤️

As a child of the 80s, John Taylor and the guys in Duran were TOPS in my book. I had no idea just what he was going through in the mid to late 80s, early 90s. I'm so glad he has come through the other side and seems so much more content in himself - that he has (what appears to be) a great marriage with Gela - and that he is still inspired to continue the music with Duran Duran. Really enjoyed this video, thanks.

That was refreshing. John handled himself very well - even with the uncomfortable subjects. Kudos to Eric for a straight up, no punches pulled interview. Nice to see someone plow through the crap to reveal some nuggets of truth.

I would love to be able to see them live, and meet all of them, including their families ! 👍 I hope John Taylor is not too hard on himself, because he has evolved into a different person, while still remaining current in the music industry.

A good interview on Mr Blair's part (why is John so restless? Too much coffee?). Definitely, the recurrent theme in John's book is his "loneliness", which really is the driving force of his escapades on sex, drugs and alcohol. The book ends with him discovering God, or Jesus, the savior, though he is not explicit. I immediately took to his book, because the pictures on the cover looked personable. The same feel runs through the contents, too.

For us, the fans, it is hard to hear that and to believe nobody would be interested in him but he felt that way at one point and that must have felt really painful for Johnny after being the most desirable man on the planet. I'm glad he found love at last when he met his wife in the mid 90's after wanting that for so long. God bless you, Johnny Angel and... keep flashing that sweet and enchanting smile of yours. XOXOXO

Sobriety isn’t that interesting. But, if you’re intimidated by your own mind over matter power, reluctant to pledge a bend and figure, it’s not a wagon, a deep end, but simply just a weekly, aaaah, high moment for the easing of sore muscles. Why not? If one prefers a downer rather than upper, of course.
