took me 35 years to realise but i think they may be the best band of the 80s, of all genres!

OMFG THAT BASS. John Taylor, the boy is just killin it. Simon Le Bon just belting out those lyrics. Roger Taylor on drums is top notch as well and that sax solo by Andy Hamilton is just so smooth. Most definitely DD's best work by far. This is the song that made me change my mind about them and view them as talented musicians. Peace

JT most underrated bass player ever

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I think this is a brilliant song.

This came out when the golden era of MTV videos and they did great videos for their songs.

Duran Duran are an English new wave band that was formed in 1978. "Hungry Like The Wolf" is one of their most famous songs from 1982. But they had a lot of hits such as "The Reflex", "A View To A Kill" (James Bond Theme), "Notorious", "Ordinary World", "Come Undone" etc.

Nice, this was the new wave of music back in the day, this song is more enjoyable now than ever before, nothing like the old music!

Duran Duran was played SO MUCH at the skate rink on Friday and Saturday nights in the 80s. They were huge. And don't even worry about the lyrics not making a lot sense. That was kind of Duran Duran's thing.

I get what she means, Duran Duran made some songs that at first glance shouldn't have worked but they did, in particular "The Reflex". That Bass Line is a must know for all Bassists. John inspired many to pick up the Bass. I also love that to this day John shows great reverence to his influences (particularly Bernard Edwards and Mick Karn). Making John something of a very fun and accessible gateway to (dare I say) more talented, subtle, complex Bassists.

The Rio Grande is a river separating the southern U.S. (Texas) from Mexico & flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

The solo stuff is what makes Duran Duran unique to the herd of music from the 80s till today. They were and still are standouts in the music industy. Nobody else sounds like them, which makes them the best there is in the music industry. Thats why they have more Lifetime Achievement awards than anyone else.

These 80's songs really require you to see the videos - the height of MTV, you know. The energy in the video is outstanding. This was also a HUGE song. They were the biggest band in the world for a time. Hit after hit after hit.

The classic trick from 60's early 70's, backward piano in the opening. :) It is famously used in Yes' piece "Roundabout" as well. The lyrics, especially from the TV reference onwards, give a feeling of a fantasy and the guy watching her on Tv is imagining what goes on in her head, knowing that she is the thing at the moment and so on, self assured.

My fav Album! I love every song! Rio is a great feel! It defines the 80's for me.

I was 12 when this song came out. John Taylor was 22 but played bass like was a pro and he wasn't even a pro. He is a self-taught bassist. He created basslines that nobody did even pros were blown away. It's amazing!
