I am happily rereading Dune and am enjoying your video commentaries. I remember reading it and being so enchanted by the book when the movie in the early 80's came out. I sent all my college friends out to see the film only to have them report back their disappointment of it. I am looking forward to seeing the most recent film adaptation after this reread. I understand it is much better than the earlier one. Of the book, I remember only how thrilled I was reading it so long ago, and I am so happy to have forgotten most of it. This reread is just as thrilling. Thanks for the push to reinvest my time with this book.

Really loving my foray into Dune again. While it's been nearly 50 years since I last read it, there is much I didn't remember. The relationship between Paul & Jessica was more nuanced than I remembered. Not to be a spoiler, I'm on the Prophet section already and enjoying Paul's progression. Dune itself is like Spice Mélange, highly addictive!

Reading for the first time and LOVING IT! Put it off for so long for delayed gratification and it’s paying off, question is where do I go from here?

Duke Leto is also the grandson of a Duke who was gored to death in a bullfight. I think the Duke and his court think they can foil the Harkonnen trap on Arrakis. As is noted later, Thufir and Gurney simply couldn’t contemplate the Harkonnen spending and the Emperor’s jealousy.
