me too. saw it on opening night on IMAX. totally worth it. Also I saw it on the 4K HDR blu ray. only disappointment was the blu ray is not IMAX enhanced :(

@@madhousenetwork yeah I understand where ur coming from but I love reading the books and then seeing how they choose to adapt it, especially if I am looking forward to particular scenes or plot developments

the scene at 2:50 the way it portrays the size of the navigator ship compared to the seemingly small vessel that comes out from it. That then turns out to be HUGE! i love that so much. Quality use of scale

I think it is as large as at least three Executor-class Star Destroyers from Star Wars. The size is immense!

From 5:10 to 6:33 is one of my favorite parts. You can feel the doom of the Atreides in the air. The way the Bene Gesserit looks at Jessica and Paul, then at the Duke as he seals his fate. She knows. I also think the Herald knows. Perhaps he is on the Emperor's council. The way he says: "It's done" is quite foreboding.

6:30 was the exact moment I knew something was wrong. The Herald's delivery serves as a beautiful contrast to the way Leto says, "so, it's done." He sounds hopeful, wanting the appointment to be genuine, but The Herald shuts that down immediately.

The bene gesserit looked at Jessica like that because she was supposed to have a daughter not a son(to have a son with the emperors children). Later the reverend mother comes to test him and would've killed him had he pulled his arm out.

Absolutely stunning adaptation of the first half of a very complicated book. Cannot wait for part two and hopefully part three.

Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica is freaking gorgeous .

it also brought tears to my eyes, even after watching it for the 7th time.

What a gorgeous film. Denis Villeneuve is one of the best directors out there and Greig Fraser is a fantastic director of photography. Both did an award winning job on this film and it clearly shows.

I can hardly wait for the BluRay.

This film is so amazing& exquisite! I can't wait to see part2 of Dune. Moreover I'm looking forward to Paul as a strong warrior in part2!!

I love that shot of the water jug. It’s a nice foreboding of the harsh condition of Arrakis.

I knew there would come a time where all those fabulously exotic science fiction stories i read so many years ago could be tastefully represented in movie form. Excluding I,Robot. This needs to be redone. Dune was a fantastic read. It will make the movie even better if you read.👍🏽💙

It's a real shame to have missed it, it was probably the main reason to see this movie in a high quality movie theatre. The sound design is absolutely earth shattering and reverberated somewhere deep inside your body when it played in the theatre. Cannot be replicated anywhere else. Basically, don't miss out when part 2 is in cinemas lol.

Please release an extended version

Being a Russian, I truly appreciate the Orthodox Christian costumes being incorporated into a space opera. That's not something you see every day.

The domestic sound such as that of a television, smartphone or hifi equipment can hardly be matched to that of a cinema. Unless you've really spent a lot of money on equipent and have a very large room.

Not bad, I haven't seen the whole movie. I did see the original with "Sting" in 1984 that was disappointing with a feeling of being a play/docudrama. I had read the book prior to seeing it and the consensus was that DUNE was too much to put in one movie and in some ways that is true. The larger issue was the immense cost of the movie, loosing $10 million, and the hope yet failure of the Spirituality of DUNE being represented in the film. I'd read the book first. I just finished reading it a second time. I liked it more, it is a bit tricky yet it comes with a dictionary and writings from real life inhabitance of DUNE. Nice touch.

I like how the story opens in Caladan; a planet rich with water and greenery only to put the characters in a totally dry desert on Arrakis.

Really cool they got Natalia Dyer from Stranger Things to play the main character!

The film doesn't explain it particularly well, but the spice allows the navigators to see into the future and plot a safe course, and without it interstellar travel is possible but extremely dangerous.

Previous interstellar travel was plotted by artificial intelligence. There was a war between humans and machines and highly inteligent machines were outlawed (why you don't see robots anywhere). Without spice humans wouldn't be able to plot the courses through prescience.

@@depuntoapuntoenelmundo2408 It's a pity the movie didn't explain the Butlerian Jihad, the war against thinking machines that banned all computers. Without computers, interstellar travel is all but impossible, which is why melange, the spice, which gives Spacing Guild pilots limited prescience, is necessary. With the spice, they can see forward to the available safe path.

Part of really enjoyed it for its cinematic appeal. The other part of me who loved the books still dislikes this adaptation and doesn’t feel like Dune. This movie will probably keep me torn for the longest

well no, it's not faithful to the inner dialogues and monologues, but it does keep a straight through line of what is happening... and tries to give some hints as to what is going on.. I think Denis just wants you to read the book, friend.

Rented this the other night...not too impressed. Disappointing that its only part 1 of the movie...I wouldn't have rented it. Didn't care for the dragonfly ships or the mosquitoe hunter-seeker! I still like the original one better...... need to watch to get vision of this movie out of my head!!

Unbelievably boring.
