Dump trailer BUILD (without hydraulics)

Ғылым және технология

In this video I make a small dump trailer using a 12V winch.
For some time we have been changing the barn into a "new" workshop in our spare time. There is a lot to do there and that's why I decided to build this trailer to speedup and facilitate earthworks.
It will definitely be useful for transporting firewood for the winter, carrying heavy things and many other works.
I think I was exaggerating a bit with the weight of the trailer, because it weighs over 100 kg, but at least it's solid :)
The winch used in this design works well, although it could be a little stronger.
I did not give an additional battery because the tractor has a 26 ah gel battery and it is a sufficient power source.
Some homemade tools used when building this project:
• Big Vise using Bottle ... - Hydraulic Bench Vise
• The easiest way to cut... - Chop saw
• DIY Belt Grinder 2x48"... - DIY Belt Grinder 2x48

I am a retied mechanical engineer in Australia, this is an excellent job of building a small tipping trailer. I however would have installed the axle about 150mm towards the rear of the trailer, it would tow better and put some weight on to the tow ball for more traction on the towing machine. Five stars

@@Mr402TA Due prices around here even smallest hobby lathe or second hand wreck, i took full nose dive into deep end and started to make my own lathe from the scratch, since someone was gracious enough to drop new chuck, axle, cone bearing and frame tube into local metal collection point, where i picked them up for free. Already got axle machined on the local shop to accept the chuck and currently working on making frame for the bearings and seals, witch get welded to tower and frame will come from I beam probably when i can source cheap 2meter long peace of it and some scrap peaces of plate for the carrier. Tail chuck was pretty easy to source, since machine shop agreed to help out and machine the tubes needed for it and machine MT4 to MT3 adapter that i picked for ridiculously cheap so it can be heat fitted to tail stock. Machining the morse taper would cost pretty hefty amount but this way its almost free. Probably end up costing around 400-600€ to get it operational enough to turn chips, but everything after is just convenience and such addons, like digitally controlled lead screw and digital measuring of the operations.

Really nice work. I've been thinking of building my own dump trailer similar to this. However, mine would be made out of steel rack beams (we pick up "scrap" from a local warehouse store). One change I would make would be to use three pulleys and run the cable back to the wench. That way it could pick up twice as much weight, albeit a little slower. But it would be less wear on the wench/battery.
