    (This is a late comment I know) Wow, this was mind-blowing to me! I had no idea how much lore, easter eggs, and depth this movie had. (especially with William Daniels's voice) 4:00 Where would killer cars be without these two? Just Imagen having both of them on either side of you on the road!

    Dude that radiator theory makes so much sense, for all we know that guy did mess with him and the lady helping him probably did spot something but because of the intense nature of the situation he had to flee. It honestly fits with the lore really well and could be the reason his valiant failed on him at the worst time, also I love the Knight Rider Historians so super cool to hear someone else mention them, cheers!

    "As logs roll out of his pants legs" Ahhahahahahahhahahaha. I love the comments on these vids. In any case I enjoyed the deep dive on Duel, one of my favorite all time movies. I was 10 when Duel came out on The Movie of the Week and you are right. The Movie of the Week WAS a big deal at the time. As for stopping on the wrong side of the pumps, that was done for framing the shot. You can see a lot of that in Dragnet believe it or not. Both Friday and Gannon often leave the car by the passenger door even though Gannon is driving. But I digress. This is and was a great film. It had it all and it needed no gore, no nudity no bullshit. Just a great plot, great acting and great suspense.

    Great to see you man, excellent content and your delivery is always spot on! In the book just as steam appears from under the hood Mann recalls when he had the engine steam cleaned the operator advised him to replace the hoses because of a tendency of the cleaning to make them crack. The David Mann character comes across as kind of a fuss pot so I can see him having the engine steam cleaned even with a nearly new car. Great catch on William Daniels, he is still going at age 96! Perhaps he would confirm his contribution if one of your viewers could figure out how to contact him. For a future review consider Terror Squad (1987), 66 year old Chuck Connors is the Sheriff in an Indiana town, some terrorists cross over from Canada (think about it) and can't be stopped by about 50 police cars in a spectacular chase/shoot em' up. Your point of view on this one would be highly entertaining. Thanks for all the work you put into these, you are the best reviewer on YT. 👍

    Genuinely interesting, there is however another conspiracy that's missed, the train... I think the viewer is meant to take the train that wakes Mann up is the same one the truck tries to push the Valiant into, which makes the exchange of horn signals between the train and the truck as the final chase begins take on a whole new meaning, the 'beater' (The train) telling the 'hunter' (The truck) that the prey is theirs...

    Kind of a neat little scene where the two acknowledge each other, it's like the two machines are communicating. Kind of adds to the whole "vehicle is the villain" idea. Just one of those small but effective bits which show the depth and talent in the movie.

    It certainly is true in a lot of instances that the woman wears the pants in the marriage. If the mechanic was true to his word, he would have shown him the the radiator hose to prove he wasn't pulling a fast one.

    Thought about your question and here is my deduction. Back in the day there weren't many rules about how long a driver could be on the road. A large percentage of them were jacked up on amphetamines to put in the maximum number of hours/miles and might go days without sleep. Once in awhile somebody might have a psychotic break. Case in point. I believe he was just a guy who worked too hard and pushed it too far.

  • @pattonm4753

    I have another interesting theory.... what if everything that happens in the movie (except maybe the beginning) is all in his head.....

  • @TheSeventhDeadlyMatador
    @TheSeventhDeadlyMatador Жыл бұрын

    Also if you have other theories you should make those into videos too on movie cars or stuff you've covered and as for the door one theory (Granted a very outlandish but possible one) While the truck is heavier and would hardly see damage from the crash with Valiant could have caused a shift in the bodywork or frame that may have made the door open from the crash itself. Now like I said it's a stretch but if go based on in universe it's possible considering trucks aren't made for crashing into things and because of how old the truck looks it could add to that theory as the truck itself not being as sturdy as it used to be.

  • @TMVarchive

    @TMVarchive

    Жыл бұрын

    For sure. an old worn out truck with a cajillion miles on it could certainly have a loose door latch. The original Peterbilt is believed to have been a 1955 model so it probably wasn't all that great when new. lol

    @@TMVarchive Not to mention those old 4 doors are pretty heavy and solid, I own an old matador wagon and nearly broke my fingers on the door alone while adjusting for parking and considering this was a brand new car for it's time, goodness I can only imagine how solid these things were new or any old car for that matter.
