    @@seaniccusIn Glomtales I have a couple of questions that I need to know what happened during and after the episode: 1. after all the villains left with their money and bet is over, what did the others tell Louie after the end of the episode? 2. Besides Della, has anyone else in the Duck Family been worried about Louie. If she and Huey were trying to make Louie stop her attempt to make schemes and monitor him during his absence, is Dewey the most worried about his younger brother or Scrooge who has been worried about him? 3. Roxanne Featherly appeared in that episode and in which scene did we see her?

    Here is the thing with the grounding I see so many people not understand: This is NOT a situation of „Who is right and who is wrong“, because Ducktales did this conflict properly and you can understand BOTH sides. Therefore BOTH are right and BOTH are wrong at the same time just for different aspects hence why this isn’t the question here. What I liked so much about this episode is that you can totally see why this grounding situation is escalating like this. Yes, Della was right to ground Louie but almost EVERYTHING about the execution was flawed as hell. From going to the place Louie wanted to go so badly, Della trying to tell him why what he did was so wrong while NOT STAYING THERE to see how these words actually affect her son (which was VERY badly) to literally locking him up all alone there with a system made to keep him in check, everything about this may have come from a well-intentioned place from Della but BOOOY is it also a prime example on how to NOT discipline your children. Don’t expect the child to learn their lesson and see your point of view on their own when all you do in their eyes is to punish them for being themselves under extremely unfair circumstances while refusing to see things from their perspective as well. Children have reasons for doing things as well and just ignoring their side of the story the way it was done here in Ducktale can literally end in nothing else than the child growing spiteful, NOT learning the damn lesson and just get more sneaky in THEIR execution of „wrong“ behavior. The kid CANNOT learn anything properly from this because you just left them on their own without proper and ADJUSTED guidance and the kid will REFUSE to learn anything properly from this because you just pretend you know all sides of the story and that YOU are 100% right and the child 100% wrong in everything. Which is BS, guidance is about communication not forcing your own flawed moral code onto the person as the strict rule of „and this is how you better behave and if you don’t you are always and forever wrong. No exceptions, I’m the parent I know better“. And yes, guidance is always better and much more important than just punishing the child. If you punish without giving guidance you just punish for the sake of punishment and don’t expect anything good to come out of THAT

    Funny enough, Glomgold's scheme, in any other series, might have been a lot more successful in spite of its simplicity because most series have a gathering of all the recurring major antagonists as like, one of the scariest and most dangerous episodes the characters have to go through. Because the heroes always thwart the bad guys with a group fighting one or two enemies, so when the villains join forces and can play off each others' strengths or split the heroes off and force them to fight alone or even when it's a group of villains fighting a singular main hero, it's usually one of the hardest hurdles for the heroes to overcome. And yet the villains here all call Glomgold out on how the simple plan of "get a bunch of counterparts to Scrooge's family" has little substance. And yet, that makes sense- only when thought it put into the scheme and the villains realize they together are worth more than Scrooge and can win the bet do they succeed. After all, the fight between Glomgold's crew and Scrooge's family is a real mess, where the villains are all stepping over each other and not working together even remotely well to play off each other, which goes back to my original point of how, in any other show, this plan would've been much better even as just a barebones villain team up scheme. Which is entirely fitting because it's a Glomgold scheme, so everything falls apart as quickly as it can start working. Also, good to have you back, thank you for this and all the videos you do.

    While I like this episode as it is, I do have one small thing on my mind that I want to criticize. What if Della had stayed at the mansion with Louie? This would have been the perfect moment for Della to spend time with Louie. Look, Dewey and Huey already have their own episodes where Della spends time with them, she gets to know her son better and sees what kind of personalities they are as individuals. In this episode, they would have had the opportunity to, Della refuse to join the adventure, nevertheless, she really wanted it more than anything else, just because she could watch after Louie. And not only to look after him, but also to get to know Louie as he is. With all his flaws and strengths. But this could have highlighted Della’s point perhaps even more. Try to think of Louie as miserable because, she can't get into the adventure, but try to think of what Della might feel like, skip an adventure she too wouldn't have wanted to miss. Again, this would have helped to bring them both empathetic edge. True, in the last episode, we get something similar, but I’m not starting to spoil too much, because of the people who haven’t seen the episode yet.

    In my opinion, GlomTales succeeded where Timephoon was lacking. It had a good message in the end, but Della's bitter reaction seemed kind of hypocritical and didn't do anything to understand Louie's character. In GlomTales, it ended with Della and Louie finally reaching a compromise; which I feel is more important. If you want to form a relationship with your kids, support them and their interests and help guide them down the best path forward instead of just dismissing them altogether.

  • @Dragon_Lair

    Timephoon did something else that set up Glomtales. It shows a parent overcorrecting a mistake made previously. Della was way too lax on Louie and what he was doing. A gentle course correction could have solved everything and not have him be grounded but that didn't happen. Della knew there was a problem but did nothing to solve it because she wanted to let him make his own mistakes and learn from them. However, after a decade of being stranded on the moon she nearly lost her whole family again. So she over corrects and learns her own lesson in Glomtales.

    When this episode and the last one came out; everyone was blasting on Louie's punishment. While I concede maybe the family in the video calls sometimes rubbed it in some (tho' upon a re-watch it seems like they're not doing it with any actual intention), Louie damn near wrecked Time, Space and destroyed the whole family as Della pointed out. He needed this grounding, and as the next episode shows.... Louie REALLY still had a lot to learn, which does pay off. Yeah, Louie was getting good at figuring his skillset, but then he keeps doing the same thing with them. Using them for short-cuts and often DANGEROUS get-rich-quick schemes which keep back firing, over and over, AND OVER!! He needed to face the music, be forced to actual, think about what he was doing, eat a slice of humble pie and just, actually THINK on the right angles to use. As said in this video, left unchecked Louie potentially was going to turn into another Glomgold. Yeah, it was harsh the one adventure he really wanted to go on, he had to sit out, but ya'know what, tough cookies, you almost killed off your whole family Louie. This episode reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where Homer finally put his foot down and forbade Bart from seeing the Itchy and Scratchy movie; yeah it sucked for Bart, and as a kid, I felt for him and felt Homer was being too harsh. Come twenty+plus years later and by God, I see the entire point of the episode. Sometimes you need to suffer from a harsh lesson to grow into a better person and Louie needed it. Then again a lot of the blowback was on Twitter or especially Tumblr, so go figure.

    I've finally found a decent explanation for why she went so over the top with the punishment! People are only looking at the consequences and saying "he deserved what he got", however he really didn't mean to cause trouble; like, come on, how was he supposed to know that space time would start tearing apart? Della going over the top because of a first time experience at grounding makes a lot more sense, she had no idea how severely unfair it was, if he was grounded for stealing fair enough... but even then going to somewhere so amazing while he's grounded still takes it too far! During the episode all I could think was "Della, give him a break; Louie, GET OUT OF THERE!" But first time experience at punishment can be forgiven.

And some food for thought on your next review. Louie basically does what any person who suddenly becomes rich does. Spend it all on wish fulfillment without thinking the consequence. But later realise that everything comes with consequences. A lesson that I think is also something Louie learn besides the whole “Monster representing an answer to the riddle” but that aspect was interesting too! Also, the fact that the previous richest person bought the invisible cloak was a nice touch as he basically wanted that to hide from the Monster if it ever did find him

    I said this about 4 months ago, and I’ll say it again, to think people over on Tumblr after this episode aired were actually bashing Della for being an abusive and horrible parent for grounding Louie and taking away his dream of Louie Inc. And like no? It’s like they don’t understand that when a kid messes up they get punished, they get grounded. People claim that fact that she’s awful especially in the next episode they say “she’s abusive because she took away Louie’s dream of Louie Inc and made a killer robot keep him prisoner while they went off and had family fun!” and like again she’s not??? Again taking something away from a child and grounding them is often what is required of parents when their child has done something wrong, and often it has to be something they really love otherwise they won’t learn their lesson. And with the “killer” robot: kids seek out. They do it more often then people think because they think they can get away with it and that’s exactly what Louie was trying to do he was actively trying to seek out, so keeping the robot there was the best option, and do you honestly think that Della or Scrooge would let a killer robot watch a child, no the robot wasn’t ever gonna actively hurt Louie just scare him, go in the defensive. Della isn’t a horrible, abusive parent. She’s a mother that just watched her family die because of something her youngest selfishly did because he always wanted to take the easy way out and never work hard. So what does she do? Does she let it go like the *rest* of her family does, no she doesn’t. She acts like a parent, properly grounds her son for almost destroying the world, she takes away his scheming and Louie Inc as punishment too, further trying to teach her son that his actions and scheming has consequences. Della isn’t horrible, or abusive, she’s being a logical parent. Because there’s a difference between being abusive and being disciplined. Being disciplined is when a parent grounds their child when they have done something wrong, when they deserve to be ground, in order for them to learn a lesson, that their bad actions have consequences. Being abusive is a parent actively seeking out their child and punishing them when they have done absolutely nothing wrong, and when the parent is angry themselves and are taking out their rage on the closest thing they can find. And sometimes it’s when a parent can sickeningly enjoys the torment. What Della did to Louie, was *not* her being abusive. She did what any logical parent would do and is disciplining him.

    She’s definitely not abusive but I don’t think Louie should’ve been punished Louie was smart and wouldn’t take the artifacts if they’d mess with time so he only took artifacts that weren’t found so they wouldn’t mess things up and possibly hurt his family. When it backfired he tried to stop it by his self so he wouldn’t disappoint his mom I hated how she told him he was being selfish and only thinking of him self when he apologized and said he was trying to start his company. He told her if he knew this would happen he wouldn’t have done it and even tried to fix it on his own so the others wouldn’t get hurt from it. They then went on the trip they KNEW he’d love with his exact personality just to get under his skin that’s kind of being a jerk. I don’t Louie should have been punished :/ Huey and Dewey (and yes even Louie) have done worse things they KNEW would have went wrong and weren’t punished but when a kid does something to help their company without even knowing they were doing something wrong are punished? Doesn’t seem right to me

  • @TheAngelofFate17

    @TheAngelofFate17

    This channel is being discontinued Sorry thing is, time is tricky, it’s unpredictable and can be devastating when messed with. It doesn’t matter that Louie was taking artifacts that weren’t found, him hoping through different time periods caused a chain reaction of events to take place. And when he started this little concept he’s not doing it to benefit his family, he’s doing it to benefit himself and Louie Inc, as a way so he doesn’t have to work hard, an easy way out. And by doing so he almost collapsed time itself and destroyed his family. Parenting often isn’t fair. Even when Louie knew he messed up at the end of it, his apology was only half baked, routined, like he’s done this before and that’s why Della grounds him. Because he messed up so bad and his family just forgiving him like they always do, because it’s a kids show is the reason why he got grounded. To show kids your actions have consequences, like if Louie did get away with this and hadn’t gotten grounded it would have sent a bad messages to kids, that as long as they apologize afterwards, then they won’t get punished. And I’m sorry but that’s not how it works. Sure, some leeway can be brought into the front, some compromise. But a simple “I’m sorry” sometimes isn’t good enough and in order for the child to actually learn a lesson from their mistake, even if they try to make it right in the end, needs to have some form of punishment. And with the Big Rock Candy Mountain thing, that wasn’t them being jerks to Louie that was again Della trying to teach her son a lesson, that his actions, his last scheme had detrimental consequences, and therefore he wasn’t allow to enjoy this one with his family. Because again, when a child is being punished you take something away from them, in order for them to learn said lesson. And then you offer the other said children a reward for their good behavior as another added lesson, that because they did something wrong they will be missing out on fun things they could have done with family, had they not done what they did. It’s a parenting tactic that’s common.

    I mean if Della WAS like how we all think she in Glomtales, then her methods of punishment would have grown from borderline Abusive to ACTUALLY abusive. The way I see it, She probably would have taken away all of Louie’s belongings and possessions, and/or smash them right in front of him, probably move his room away from his brothers to a dusty, bare isolated room with nothing in it. Kept him locked in there every day and night For the rest of his life (even into adulthood) and the worst I can see her doing is physically abusing him, hitting him but even more, punching him and even culminating in breaking a limb. The worst part? She doesn’t realize that this is actually more harmful than good and believes that it’s all necessary for him to learn his lesson about the Timephoon. Her reaching The point of breaking his limb would be crossing the Moral Event Horizon in my eyes. The way Beakley would cross the MeH in this event is by approving of what Della is doing even breaking his limb. While it would be longer for Scrooge by him not doing anything about the abuse, (no matter how much sympathy he may feel), he would cross it however in this event if he did not do anything in the scenario of Della breaking Louie’s limb.

    This is in my top 5 so far. "Family is the greatest scheme of all" Magica singing happy birthday is classic. I miss the old Scrooge and the old sounds/music, but the New GlomGold, Mark Beaks, Don Karnage and villians have all been great, love GlomGolds voice.

    I think the Comic-Scrooge basically saw it like Glomgold...he mostly hired Donald and the kids because they (had to) work for free (or debt reduction)...and I actually like that the new scrooge has more heart...but he also doesn't share the treasure. Think about it...Donald spent his entire youth treasure hunting...very successful btw...so even if he only was given 10% of it he should be a millionaire too but he is broke as fuck. And before you say: he maybe wasted his money.. we've seen him going on treasure hunts with scrooge after they re-united...and he still seems relatively broke to me. Wait until Loui is old enough to hire a lawyer.

    It's actually funny that Glomgold has a point, which refers to the classic comic stories where Scrooge tricks Donald and the boys into doing jobs for 30 cent per an hour or for 30 cent per a day (or going to do the job completely unpaid because of Donald's debts). Fortunately, in some of the later Barks' stories, the boys start making contract deals with Scrooge so he can't trick them.

    Here what I think about Louie and Della See to me when Louie said "Why can't you see!" It's understand he doesn't want to change his talents but on the hand to me he doesn't see Della's worries at all. Yes Della is asking way to much of Louie to change but it's more like Della just doesn't want Louie to go to a fuse in his life like she did were he's more focus on himself and has this Family comes last attitude. Well the 9 main characters they have the same flaws were they have a hard time seeing each others POV. However,Of the 9 Louie has this issue the most. Louie's not seeing Della's worries. It also shows another flaw with Louie which we saw in The Most Dangerous Game Night,Streaklous in Duckburg and other episodes that Louie Causes more problems than fixies it. But in this episode it's more of Louie feeling like Della is the problem not him. He feels like Della not accepting him and wanting him to not plan things or be himself. But in reality Della just worried about him. it's more Della's accidally not accepting Louie then just Della overreacting and losing her temper. Louie needs to realize that which in most of the episode he has a very hard time doing so. Plus Louie needs to show Della that he flaws can be use for good then bad!
