    I'm not a mechanic by trade. I've been working on my own bikes since I could remember. I try and research my projects before I start and use shop manuals to fill the gaps. Sometimes, I have to take things apart and explore before understanding the problems. I should probably put some type of disclaimer in my videos

    Mine has just started to leak (21' V4s). Anyone who has had the gasket replaced had the issue re-occur? I am thinking when I replace mine that I put RTV bond on the head as well to make sure there is a really good seal

  • @MotoGarageTV

    Definitely use the RTV as well.

    Great vid! What are the torque specs for the cover bolts?

    I couldn't find torque specs on these particular bolts. I went with what I thought was good based on how tight they felt backing them out.

    Very informative video but i think theres a sealant that needs to be applied on the both covers where the rubber gasket sits on.

    did you have to put the rtv in the channel all the way around before pushing the gasket on? did you have to clean old rtv out? confused about that part

  • @MotoGarageTV

    There were only a few spots where I saw old RTV from the factory inside the cover. Little cleaning is required, I also prepped the channel with some some rubbing alcohol. There was nothing on the head itself. I applied a small bead of RTV around the whole channel before installing the new gasket.

    Hi, there. I have the same leak on my 2018 Ducati Panigale V4S. I have to replace the valve cover gasket, do you know whats the torque spec on the 4 bolts for the valve cover?

  • @MotoGarageTV

    @MotoGarageTV

    Hey, I don't recall what that torque amount was. Just guessing I would say around 10-15nm

    Thanks for responding. Im about to do mine tomorrow. Looks like it’s tricky to put the cover on especially with the rtv gasket maker on it too. Any tips to make it easier to install?

    @JVSKRR-is7qr hey hope this reaches you in time before your installation. I'll let you know what worked for me. I applied a small amount of the RTV inside the groove where the gasket would insert, then pressed in the gasket. I turned the cover over and just let the weight of itself hold the gasket in place. I let this sit for about 10-15 minutes before installing. This helped hold the gasket in place while installing. I suggest temporarily zip tying cables/ lines out of your way to allow an easier install of the cover. I was fighting some wires and ended using a few zip ties and made a huge difference. Hope this helps.

    Why are you replacing a valve cover gasket on a new bike?? Was it leaking? How many miles on the bike?

  • @MotoGarageTV

    @MotoGarageTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, it was leaking. The bike has 5k in miles. I'm the second owner, I imagine since it's just a rubber gasket, the original owner let the bike sit and the seal dried out. It was a small leak and a relatively easy ands low cost item to fix.

    Mate, how much did this build cost😂? I’ve rebuilt several engines and reused all the hardware, just paying a few quid for the leaking gaskets. I appreciate the work though, don’t get me wrong.

  • @MotoGarageTV

    This repair in particular....$53 dollars. I could have just bought a new gasket and reused the bolts, and it would have been closer to $20 dollars.

    @NitroTruth tell me about it. I've spent about the same amount on add-on parts as I did on the purchase of this bike. Close to 18k in add-ons alone
