Ever just complete a song and slap an au5 track in to reference....30 hours of just mastering... on top of 40+ hours of actual sound design and mixing....and I gave up cuz I realized the source was messed up and I no longer had the cpu to actually run it....But we’ll get em this time bois....side note: anybody know where I can get skins for like, I dunno, every plug-in ever? I just can’t look at stock serum anymore.
I love the idea of building on small amounts of compression so it doesn’t competently kill the transients and distort too much. I usually just slam the shit out of everything with Ozone so this opened my eyes 😂

Sad Meal For sure man, you've my full support. When you feel like it, It'd be cool to know how you do your post processing for your songs, they're extremely energetic hence I wondered how you go by it. There're a lot of videos sure but none of them are like, straightforward you know? (and dude i'm addicted to your Moonboy remix wtf.) Also, if it's not too much of a hassle, could you guide me as to what I'd require if I purchase a pair of Monitors? I've never owned one, and there're tons of advices but none of them concrete, like, will I need an Audio Interface and such for it? What do you say?
@SadMeal
4 жыл бұрын
@@shubhamsingh6037oct gotchu man, I have a melodic dubstep start to finish I'm doing this month! As for monitors, I wouldn't overthink or overspend. I'd invest in a good pair of headphones before monitors but if you're sure you want monitors, the rokits or the Yamaha H series are always good and the focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is the cheapest and best interface in my opinion. Hope that helps man ❤️

@@SadMeal It really did! The biggest thing that I am struggling with right now, is how to go about finishing a project. I sometimes think that I might be squashing way too much into a song and it sounds cluttered and EQing becomes a nightmare. I do have one question for you, in the video you said you normally mix and master all in one project, so basically you aren't bouncing out the mixdown and then importing to a new project for the master? Generally what are your settings for your final export?
U could also hard clipping a lil` bit on each buss before entering in master buss. I like a lot u r master buss chain. Thx for sharing and keep going with this amazing tutorials.

Bro, I was in the FL, following most of the steps, from the serums to the invisible limiter, pausing and understanding why the equalizations you were doing, and the only thing I didn't understand was the radius in the ozone part, I will already investigate about it. But hey I liked the result, not as much as yours of course, since I don't have the API 2500, nor the sausage, hahaha. Great video, keep it up. Greetings from Peru. Subscribed

@@Vector_U ozone imager is free. Kazrog Kclip is the plug in I used to narrow the transients down during mastering, then I used the waves API 2500, sausage fattener and ozone and the AOM invisible limiter in the chain. I use volume shaper which is an old version of shaper box for sidechaining. The rest is mostly Ableton stock. These are all easily found on Google and are often on offer too 😄

@@SadMeal a 2022 version of this video would be sick if you've changed the way you approach your mixing and mastering. love your channel!
Great video, cheers! a few key takeaways: 1. Pick good quality samples, unless you have really good ears to mix it properly and get it to sound right later 2. Unless your sound design is doing its job (including all the fx e.g. distortion, filters, compression), the "mixdown" won't magically make it "sound good" 3. Use multiple plugins and handle your pre-master gently to get the most out of it instead of slamming one plugin on it

I've seen some design the LFO shape for sidechaining in a really detailed fashion based on the length of the kick... you a believer in that? How is that done with shaperbox?
@SadMeal

Yeah man! Basically you'd zoom in real close on the kick sample to see the length in milliseconds and then set the shaperbox to match the kick. It's definitely a more precise and cleaner way to sidechain.

Nice video but you have your reference track outputted to the master so it will be affected by the master processing. I'm guessing you leave your master chain empty and then change the outout to ext when your're doing the mastering so it's not affected?
