Mixing and Mastering Bass Music in Ableton (Dubstep, Freeform, Trap, & Future Bass Tutorial)

Stream my new single 'Heavy' fanlink.to/e4j2
Hello bassheads, in today's tutorial I will be in Ableton demonstrating how to mix and master your music to it's full potential.
These tips apply to any genre, but especially for dubstep, freeform/experimental, trap, future bass, halftime, and all that good stuff.
Generally, my workflow is all over the place, but can be reduced to the following steps.
1. Organize
2. Polish
3. Level
Mixing
1. Organize (group tracks by type)
2. Cut out lows (except for the kick) and get a dedicated sub
3. Polish the sound (drum bus/compression if kick, OTT/Saturation if bass, reverb/delay to taste)
4. EQ, sweep through with a peak and boost the pleasant frequencies and reduce the unpleasant frequencies
5. Stereo widening (delay/reverb/wider/whatever plugin to taste)
6. Rough Levels/Volume
7. Compress group
Repeat for all groups until mastering
Mastering
EQ, Compress, and boost dB until subs are reaching -6 dB
Then bring up your highs (and mids a tiny bit) until they're plenty loud.
Simple, but it gets the job done.
After some disciplined tutorial following you'll get a feel for your own mixing/mastering style and preferences, just keep experimenting.
I wish you luck in your creative journey.

One good tip is to use white noise as your SC trigger because it knocks out the whole spectrum. Just put white noise in a sampler @middle c. If you offset the hits on the trigger clip about 2-3ms forward it will give the compressor more time to SC before the kick transient occurs and will sound even cleaner :)

I used to really love organising into groups BUT Ive found that if you wish to export groups as stems (ie. drums, synth, bass groups) the effects in the group chain do not get applied. The only work around Ive found is to resample the audio of the entire group, and do this separately for each one. Anyone else find a better work around for this?

When I turn the effects off from the sidechain group the white noise goes away but now I get no sidechain. Is there any work around for this?

idk i’ve changed my methodology since this, i now basically just limit or softclip it to get it as loud as possible, but of course lee in mind all platforms are now equalized so it doesn’t really matter up to u just crank the loudness until you hear too much distortion/squashing with limiting or clipping

I've used Sonarworks reference to apply correction but I'm looking to learn the science behind treating a room, not just following the steps every channel on KZread suggests without explaining how to actually measure and calculate the accuracy of the space. I'm sure I could come out with acceptable releases using what I have but I'm interested in astounding, not acceptable.
