DualSense Haptic Feedback vs. Joy-Con HD Rumble
Ойындар
With many similarities between the Playstation 5's haptic feedback and the Nintendo Switch's HD rumble, I thought it would be fun to compare the two and see how they stack up.

There is no difference because the company that makes the HD Rumble is the same company that makes Sony's haptic feedback for the dualsense and the only difference is the show that they're encased in adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are two different things

I don't remember ever feeling like something was tapping on the outside of the controller on switch the subtlety in astro playroom of the rain drops and hail stones is just uncomparable to what the switch was doing sorry to say I love my switch but that hd rumble was so under utilised what I'm glad about is mainstream games known for lazy development (FIFA , cod) are even using the triggers and haptics of the dual sense that's a good sign that it's very simple to implement and will likely be in Thier future titles regardless, making them more likely to be used by others , who knows if hd rumble had been utilised effectively in some game maybe we could compare I don't think we ever saw its full capability to be honest

monopoly game the hd rumble made it feel like you where shaking a cup with dice, 1,2,switch almost everything about the game was about that feature, Skyrim when lockpicking you were able to feel the tension that was being applied to your picks, also res rev collection did something similar, they were a good varieties of games that utilize it specially early on but not enough to see how good it was, but the games that use it made it an incredible tool.
Mario Odyssey and Thumper are other games that use the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons very well!

Dualsense haptics are FAR superior to Switch's HD rumble. To compare them Switch's is like a tiny buzzing, where as the DS is quite strong and varied, and the forcefeed back triggers is an awesome addition.

The Zelda games have a good HD rumble feel.
I turn off haptics in order to play Call of Duty. I don’t even remember what haptics do or feel like.
The thing that always blasted me with HD rumble, is that it feels directional, the games that make use of that always feel great. For the PS5 controller speaker, I still miss the Wii Mote Speaker, especially since when the PS4 controller speakers got a lot of people to say that Sony invented controller speakers. I hope that VR will get this, when playing some Switch games you really feel the direction of things, then you got VR, where you have much better tracking, fully immersive, requires propper dexterity, then boom, the vibrations blast you straight back to the N64 rumble pack, just basic on off shaking, I hope this tech gets to make into into the next gen of VR controllers, even just the directional thing. The trigger thing would work well for games with guns, when you pick up a large frame double action revolver and the trigger goes stiff to emulate having to pull the hammer back before dropping it as the cylinder spins, then boom, as the shot goes, directional rumble. With the amazing sound of the weird little ear speakers of the Valve Index delivering all the boominess of the sound effects as it already does. This tech can make VR even better than it already is.
4:19 🙄
In this video you say that the adaptive triggers in Miles Morales are "really intense" and make it "hard to pull the trigger" - this is odd because Miles Morales actually doesn't have any adaptive trigger support. It just has haptic feedback.

TRULLY APRECIATE THAT SOMEONE MADE A VIDEO ABOUT THIS, THANK YOU. But need to point out some things: * Don't think the comparison is fair. You needed to compare it to 1/2 Switch as it is Nintendo game with more varied uses. Thumper could be a better candidate than Golf Story? *Also Astro's is a very atypical game because the developers tied rumble to everything, to the point of being detrimental to battery life as it sips it in just 4 hours. i honestly can't think of any other game where developers said "screw it" and went to that extent. *Because of this there's no real valid comparison to make against Astros. The idealcomparison iis to take a game that has good use of rumble that would be in the 2 platforms. i think that for potential gameplay implications both controllers would be the same, with the difference that DualSense will be more intense since the motor size is substantially bigger. i also would argue that given equal motor sizes on both controllers the Joycon implementation is better since the controllers can be splitted thus achieving a better separation, also the user hands wrap around them better.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Haptic feedback is an unintrusive gimmick while Nintendo's loved motion controls get in the way, unlike the adaptive triggers which can be turned off if they do become intrusive. Motion controls can be unintrusive like in BOTW's shooting (but not certain puzzles) or can be turned off like in Mario Oddisey but leave you with limited functionality.

I turn this crap off on my system and in every game. Genuinely? It's a shit gimmick that kills battery power and does nothing besides providing gamers unaware of their surroundings with a crutch. Literally ZERO games are actually better for it, and I wish a third party company made controllers without it. I hate the idea my controller is even slightly heavier than is necessary.
