@@totga2217 I think that's because a lot of new and still rising artists get it. But Dua Lipa isn't 'rising'. She's up there among the top right now in terms of sheer numbers, she won;t be forgotten anytime soon.

Shes been in the industry for 3 years now and actually isnt qualified for Best New Artist. But she deserved it since she only has 1 album.. (meh idk the qualifications for it) and in that 3 years shes rising and rising.... i dont think shes gonna be unknown anytime soon

She was very underrated when she first came to the music industry. Then, because of New Rules, her songs got popular and she became successful. I still respect that song and Dua Lipa. She is such an inspiration.

I feel like a lot of people, especially in America, have no idea how messy her career was before New Rules exploded. She didn't come out of nowhere, she took some time to be really successful. It was frustrating to watch her career back in 2015-2016, i really thought she'd be one of those unlucky artists who have it all but somehow never made it big.

actually new rules was written by another songwriter who does music for pop artists like ariana. dua's dad recently thanked all the writers who were hired to write on future nostalgia, this is a business, dua lipa as she did with new rules has had several songs done where she just has to put her voice

@@enriquesanchez9016 Trust me, even here in southern Europe, almost nobody knew who she was. I am from Greece and I had friends from London asking me if I know who Dua Lipa is and I was like Dua who ? And even after New Rules got out, still Dua Lipa wasn't a name you hear often outside the UK and few other countries... What made it big for me is when I heard Cold Heart several times and realized that it's Dua Lipa alongside Elton. From then on I fell in love with all her songs. I know I'm late but better late than never.
And she just delivered a phenomenal sophomore to prove why she deserved this.
She didn't deserve to get her speech cut off like that.

Everyone gets the same amount of time, the show was going on 4 hours long. There’s programming coming after it that needs to proceed in a timely fashion. People shouldn’t talk over their allotted time then they won’t get played off

ESC Angel That ‘old man’ is Bob Newhart, an ‘institution’ in comedy. He probably just wanted to hold it for her out of kindness so she can have her speech. No need to call him out. I wanna go back to this moment after she wins album of the year with Future Nostalgia. I've never heard of an album as most deserving. It had so much passion and soul into it and it single-handedly saved the music industry of 2020 and brought the world down to the dance floor. I'm actually tearing up because i'm so passionate about this and how she became the new queen of disco of this new generation.
It’s unfair what happened to her acceptance speech, first she needed to have her trophy on her hands,and second that background music damn let the artist express their emotions Anyway, congratulations to Dua, a humble and talented queen 👑

I don't think so, Times just named Folklore as the best album of 2020.

3 times I can think of that the grammys awarded the right artist: 1. Taylor Swift for 1989 best album. 2. Dua Lipa best new artist. 3. (I can't remember if this 1 is accurate) but Linkin Park for best rock album for Hybrid Theory ?..

I know these award shows are planned from sec to sec but they really need to give artists more time for their speech and not cut them off. they do this every single year and it's really rude and fucking awkward(remember when Adele had to say she had been cut off before she could thank someone?), especially cuz it's not just some random award, the winners wanna thank everyone who helped them, they can really give them an extra minute and bring back the background music quietly for fuck's sake, the show would last extra 10 minutes smh, it's so awkward to watch, it's like they don't respect the winners.
