I’ve found that when truing like this, one has to have the direction of wind really nailed down too because a left wind pushes bullet low and right and a right wind left and high. If you don’t get the wind vector correct when truing one can be introducing elevation errors just from an incorrect wind angle. I love the kestrel ab because it will account for these wind angles (aerodynamic jump)into the solutions as long as you put the right one into the firing solution. Love the videos!!!!!

In this discussion are we talking about the Kestrel with Advanced Ballistics or with the Hornady 4DOF ballistics? Or is this practice applicable in either case?

Both these functions are strictly for AB units. Hornady uses different techniques to improve accuracy but they are not discussed in this video.

@@KestrelBallistics Thanks for the quick response. I wondered about that. Do you have any instructional materials on how to do something similar in the 4DOF units? I bought one last fall, and have used it successfully shooting out to 1000 yards+, and I'm not pushing my game farther, and am looking for the best ballistic predictions I can get. Can't afford to buy another unit, so I'm looking for how to maximize the value I've got in my 4DOF unit. Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

Todd, I watched your lessons, calculations in the wind. Now I made my calculation for the wind. Now I don’t need a ballistic calculator in the wind. Moreover, I do not need Koestler, the wind can be measured by sensations. Now I am the best on my continent in calculating wind.I also developed a calculation of vertical and angular corrections in the mountains, all calculations from my head. Now I can teach special snipers to work without a ballistic calculator.

I think he is saying that the kestrel or maybe even a wizz wheel will take that into account by knowing your density altitude and BC and the list of other factors that go into shooting at the ranges their dealing with. Will predict within an acceptable degree of accuracy when your bullet enters the transonic phase and calculate a flight path based on that… not just a flight path based on muzzle velocity.. im probably way wrong though.

you are not compairing DSF Table vs Cal MV at all in this video...
