Is the edifier mr4 in default setting? I.e. monitor mode with knobs at the back set to middle? Your in room response is surprisingly flat. Crazy how cheap this speaker is to achieve such good response.

The MR4 sounds defenitely so much more enjoyable than their older V shape tuned modles.

MR4 definitely lacks a deep and rich enough bass compared to 305P, due to its way smaller size, but still I think edifier is worth so much praise since it achieved so much with a such little chaise and price.

Wow I'm impressed by the Edifiers and I currently run the JBLs on my desk.

mr4 sounds good for the size, but can't overcome the limit from the small size.

Relative. I consider both good options, but small size can be useful for mid-range for example and all depends from the project.

please do the MR4s against the yamaha HS5, Also, i know its not the same category.... but i would love an Edifier MR4 against the edifier s350db.

For all day listening MR4, JBL has some sharp edges that distract me in forgetting there are speakers in the room.

I can't mix on the JBL's, that extra crisp top end always has my mixes coming out too dull on other playback systems. Also the midrange feels kind of scooped. Good for watching movies though for a cheap home entertainment setup

Hello! What is better for playing electroacoustic guitar and multimedia, Edifier MR4, M-Audio BX4 or JBL 104 ?

What are the best speakers for music listening in a $200-$300 budget? I want a neutral sound signature (similar to the Yamaha Hs8 but cheaper)

Hi, would you suggest Edifier MR4 or R1855DB or Sony sscs5 with amp? I own a good sub. I care more about vocal movie clarity.

Edifier MR4 with a cheap sub like Edifier T5 or Presonus Sub8 is already a win for me. If you don't want to get a sub I think Kali LP6v2 is the way to go as it can hit 42.5 hz bass. JBL 305p MKIIs only reach 51.3 hz

Wow! Edifier here sounds more neutral and as close to the original as possible. JBL gives more "color" in the direction of hi-fi.

JBL definitely sounding better here, but for the price the edifiers are absolutely pulling their weight. Do JBLs have a strong static sound though??

would you compare r1855db with mr4? Which one has better sound?

These are clearly not in the same league, but for the money, the Edi's are doing well I guess and perhaps better than cheap Mackie's

JBL if I had to change the speakers of the bedroom's mini stereo but I think I'll get the MR4 or Presonus Eris 3.5 for my PC as I'd like to sometimes leave the headphones aside.

We have true winner over here - MR4 represents much, much closer to the original audio. More compact and better design than JBL's as well.

@@Xeixeixei9 если есть возможность слушать музыку достаточно громко то стоит, басы у JBL заметно лучше. Для подготовленного помещения или комнаты в личном доме лучше они, но для обычной квартиры я думаю такая мощность не нужна.

Купил mr4 из за дизайна, уж очень понравился белый цвет, а потом узнал что это топ за свои деньги из подобных видосов. Звук в реальности очень впечатляет, по началу не веришь что такие маленькие колонки на такое способны. Брал тупо как настольную акустику для игр и ютуба вместо громоздких microlab solo 7с, которые были у меня больше 10 лет

Perhaps the issue with MR4 are the non inverted domes in the woofers, it makes them a little bit scooped at the high mids, sounding nasal, but I prefer these because of the soften highs... yes, Im an old guy. When tested JBL 305 vs Mackies 5, I picked up the Machies, that has a similar sound signature than Ediffiers MR4. I never push the highs in a mix, so I don´t need them to scream like a warning, but I used to f+++k up the work by adding too much low end.

Could you also do Edifier MR4 vs KRK RP5G4? THX🙌

Definitely wins in my opinion JBL.

Yeah no kidding. Look at the size and price of them. The video was to show how well a smaller cheaper speaker can compete.

MR4 vs R1380DB please

The MR4s are frequently requested recently. I'm surprised that you compare MR4 with the highly regarded 305P. Although the graph shows they have very similar frequency response, there is clearly a better soundstage from 305P which can be heard even from the recording.

In china，Mr4's price is 1/6 of the jbl's.

It's a little hard to compare the original stereo track, with the speaker recordings, because the stereo imaging is heavily affected by the speakers. How about also including a MONO version comparison, using a single speaker each time?

Let's remember that the MR4 has a monitor mode and a sound mode. The one you're hearing is the monitor mode which is flat. but with one push of a button it transforms into a beast.

Hissing electronics should be a thing of the past

"MR4 sounds good, but JBL has that texture that manages to match the original audio source a bit better, especially in the low end. Considering that the music I mix is metal and rock, I'll stick with JBL without hesitation."

Have both, prefer Mr4. Less harsh hi freq, bass is sounding better, tight and a bit warmer, E3.5 is a bit too dry, midrange is very good. Overall more listenable is mr4, less fatiguing. Bought e3.5bt though, for the Bluetooth connectivity and use them as kitchen speakers. Mr4 are connected to Doug audio p1 headphone output for enjoyable tube sound in my bedroom. This also makes huge difference!

The JBL 305 mkll sounds much better live than these multi-studio Edifire MR4 , something I haven't seen The Edifire mr4 is on the list of the best budget monitors for a home studio, unlike the JBL 305 mkll.

If you're thinking of connecting a subwoofer, and using it as multimedia speakers, go for 1700BTs If you want boxes dedicated primarily to music, MR4 or 1700BT. The MR4 seems to sound a little flatter, while the 1700BT has a little more prominent bass and treble. It depends on your taste, and what types of music you listen to. Remembering that the MR4 has 42W RMS and the 1700BT has 66W RMS...

@@MonesahBuson Basically it's how loud they can play without distorting... The relevance depends on where you're going to use the boxes (Bedroom, Living Room, Open area like a backyard). The larger the area, the greater the power needed to "fill" the environment.

that's the interesting one! According to ASR, the MR4's behave way better than the Eris in measurements, and probably are the best 3/4" budget monitors, second only to Neumi BS5P (those are USA only AFAIK). It will be great to listen to a comparison between the MR4's and the best-seller.

Wow, in the return to the wild part, the jbls have a LOT of noise... really bad!!! the mr4 have it too but much less. In the jbls it was just distracting to me. So much i felt the need to comment lol.

Wouldn't be more useful comparing the MR4 to other budget 3.5/4" takes on studio monitors? I mean, obviously 5" monitors will sound better, even one of the cheapest decent ones like the 305P... a pair costs twice as much as the MR4s. I think most people considering trying MR4s are either on the 100-150$ budget range so, 305P are out of the picture, or need compact speakers so, 5" isn't an option.

Its nice being able to listen to It side by side with a reference monitor double its price, you may decide for example if the 305p is worth its asking price difference for you, or if its a worth upgrade

Violin sound better on Edifier, JBL sound too metallic. 30 years of violin play that I can tell.
