iLoud Micro has better bass extension. Long Night shows up a big level difference around 49hz (G note) for example. It would be much more satisfying when using MR4s with a sub. There is a significant dip at 3k on MR4. Be aware of that if you’re gonna use MR4s as studio monitors. Therefore, calibration or simple EQing would be recommended in case of monitoring. MR4 has good clarity. It has relatively excessive air(>10k), not necessarily a bad thing though. Imo high frequencies are smoother than some other Edifers.

I listened to this over a 20 year old 150€ 5.1 Sub/sat set from Teufel. My first layman opinion: Surprisingly similar. The micro might be a bit darker, the mr4 a bit brighter. Both sounded very nice (given the size and price). I'd go for the micro for size (as desktop pc speakers) and slightly more pronounced lows, or the mr4 for the price and slightly more precise lows(?). Personally, I guess I'll get the mr4 due to the price.

I still didn't buy, but in the meantime I decided to definitely spend ~200€ (compared to 100€ for the mr4 new) on used iLouds. Basically just for the obvious differences: size on desk, bi-amped, bluetooth, lows. However, I still think the mr4 are a great alternative, especially for half the price of used iLouds.

Two good speakers that sound quite the same. I think the ILoud is a touch stronger in mid-highs with a nice open sound, though this could lead to sharp edges on wind instruments and voices. The MR4s are a bit stronger in the lows. This makes a rockband stand out more, gives it body. The score is about the same, but on different qualities.

Well, that's why you should avoid buying toy speakers like ILoud MM or smallest Genelec in any case except you really need a travel solution. All that WOW OMG SOUNDS BIGGER THAN ITS SIZE basically means that you can get a sound of a cheap but right made 4" "normal" monitors which, again, are half-toy as well. I'd mention JBL 104 in a toy speaker row if it was toy-sized, but it's size is about normal 5", only sound is toyish :D MR4 are surprisingly good tho; colored but nicely EQable and low end does sound "normal" already

Hi, bro. After testing my new Edifier MR4, I hear a very slight noise that comes only from the tweeters of each speaker, it is like white noise or interference and it increases when the volume of the monitors is turned up. The sound does not come from the other connected devices, since the noise is heard even when I only have the monitors connected, without plugging anything else. I have also tried it with several current outlets and the sound persists. My question is, is this noise normal? For what is this? Is it normal or the one I have was faulty? THANK YOU

My iLoud Micro Monitors (also Class D amp) have a quite significant hiss/white noise from tweeters (barely audible at 1 meter away during night) no matter the input source or volume level (though it's getting even more pronounced when volume is increased, thankfully I can feed it from my headphones amp with a very clean signal and keep the monitors at the min volume level). With Bluetooth input iLoud Micro Monitors are hissing way more and barely usable as near field monitors IMO.

I had the same issue some time ago. The problem was my wifi router was too close to the speakers and caused noise and interference at higher volumes. There are several threads on reddit about this. Move your WiFi router to another location. To check if you have the same problem, set your speakers to maximum volume and turn off the Internet. If the noise disappears, you have the same problem as me.
