Outstanding job on the video. The quality is good, you didn't waste time by giving your life story before getting started, and gave very thorough step by step instructions. Thanks for making an instructional video the way it should be done.
This was the clearest, most instructive video on the subject. I didn't know what was making the screeching noise until I got in there, and it turned out to be the right rear drum support roller. The parts were cheap so I went ahead and replaced both rear rollers, the idler pulley and the belt. The wave washer on the drum roller was part of the problem and they have been redesigned to use a flat washer instead (comes with the new roller). Worked great, problem fixed! Thank you.
Thank you, To who ever this gentleman is...echoing the vast majority of comments I've read here...and You tube,...could've used this tool extensively on the farm about 50 years ago...;)
Thanks. This video matched my dryer perfectly. I just did this job ( and lubed the rear pulleys with graphite). The thing is now just as quiet as when new.
thanks for taking the time to do this
Great video. It looks like the step of removing the Idler Pulley from the mount was skipped. Which tool was used to remove it, so that the wheel could be changed?
Excellent video.

Thanks very much for saying so!
At about 2:31 into the video it jumps from removing the front panel to removing the bulkhead and skips mentioning the clips that hold the top down. These are not mentioned until much later in the video during the reassembly process. Also it should be noted that an 8 mm socket works just as well perhaps even better than a 5/16 socket.

Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We will have the editors look at the original footage to see if that ended up on the cutting room floor.
I have a question.... i have a estate whirlpool that the idler pulley doesn't have a wheel on it it just have a curve. Can i use a idler pulley that has a wheel on it.
is that what makes the loud squeaking noise?
Nice work , i don't see the you tube links on your website ? Ok i see the links now under after you click on the part there is option.

You're welcome!
I really enjoyed your video; not only was it informative but also very professional; i.e. good sound quality without the room acoustics. I am in the process of trying to save our 10 year old GE dryer that now kind of squeals. I believe it's the belt but will replace the idler pulley as well. Can I ask what camera and mic you used?

Hi Brad, Thanks for the kind words and great question! We use a Panasonic HVX-200a, which has unfortunately been discontinued. We use two mics, a Senheiser wireless lav for Steve and a Rode NTG-2 shotgun for the room/backup. All three are coming up on their fifth birthday and are still working well! Thanks again for watching!
Seems like you put the idler pulley incorrectly Check how it was installed at 5:37 and how you are installing it at 5:52. Pay attention to the 'lip' on the pulley.

You are correct. The pulley does work either way, but we will correct the video. Thanks for your comment.
