To get rid of the grittiness and white cast you can blowdry your roots and the excess should fly away. Also if you want an even better refresh you can part your hair and clean just your roots with a coton pad and some micellar water. It works really well on my straight hair but I don't if this would mess up a silk press.

TFS this, I just started using dry shampoo and definitely see a difference. Especially since I'm a sweater in my hair during working out

At a certain point it will not help. You need to use before your roots get oily
