Dr. Dray's logic is very simple and clear-cut: If there's cost-effective equivalent/alternative, i.e., a "dupe", go for it instead of investing on over-hyped, expensive bunch.

I would usually agree, but unfortunately the ordinary one broke me out pretty bad. I use the Drunk Elephant one only after I do a bha/aha treatment.

Easy for you to say when SO many "dupes" ends up burning my eyes after a few hours of usage. For me, that's MORE $$$ down the drain cause once a lotion does that, it ends up in the trash where it belongs.

@@ghstbird3338 then if the expensive one works for you then good for you. Noir Mamba said such instance. Plus if you're throwing so many dupes then you're not carefully paying attention to the ingredients. I mean you tried several dupes and would end up almost equalling the expensive ones? For sure there is something there that compromises your skin that is not in the expensive ones. Also why throw it immediately? You could have given it instead to someone who might be compatible and had the product not totally wasted, talk about flushing your bucks without considering wiser way to utilize the product.

But there isn't a DUPE for this. Ordinary isnt even close. She says she "thinks" it has ceramides and niacinamide but it does not.

I've tried the Ordinary one you've mentioned and it did absolutely nothing for me - left the skin sticky. I got a sample of this "mask", and within 2 days dry patches on my skin were gone. This is the 1st product EVER to have this kind of impact on my skin. So I have to say I disagree with the "dupe" version a lot. Both in how they feel on the skin and how they perform.

Same. The ordinary one irritated my skin, whereas my skin loves the Drunk Elephant one. And I think comparing products in this way doesn't really work, because the way it's been formulated makes more of a difference.

My dermatologist also recommended Cerave, but it is owned by L'oreal, so I like trying to find a cleaner brand. Plus, sometimes it's fun to play. Not all the time, but I like having found Skinfix.

Overnight moisturizers in South Korea are called sleeping masks. They tend to name their skin products in a specific way (ie lotion =toner). I am huge fan of Asian skin care btw. I saw you praising The Ordinary a lot but I've tried all of their products and they were very hit and miss.

I purchased a “nightine mask” from FRESH and I felt sooo dumb cause it’s just another moisturizer! Never again, thank you Dr. Gray ❤️❤️❤️

I'd love to see a video going through your favorite masks. I know I don't necessarily need to use masks, but I enjoy them and would love to know which ones are best. I see a ton of brands like Lush, Peter Thomas Roth, Origins, Fresh, etc. used frequently and I have no idea how good they actually are.

Yeah those 'sleeping masks' are the new word for overnight moisturizer. I find them fairly prevalent in Korean skincare.

Specifically, TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Lotion. It is convenient to use the lotion rather than actually applying green tea to my face prior to red light. I heard that there is a study proving that ECGC excelerates the benefits of LED.

Yes I totally agree with the viewers. You dont need expensive moisturizers or any products for that matter as long as it works for you & your skin. Dr. Dray since I've been watching your vlogs, I have done a a better job with reading ingredients & not let all the skincare pharmaceuticals take all my savings. 😁 I am just finishing up the other "unnecessary" products so I dont waste all my money. I got this DE moisturizer before finding this channel. It worked fine for my skin and I enjoyed the smell and luxurious feel of it (probably because of the price and packaging). Then I got the CeraVe PM to try next but it tingles my skin quite a bit. Seems there's a lot other affordable options on here to try out though. Thank you for the videos!

I love the ordinary products. Very affordable. I would never pay $50 for a moisturizer.

Ugh the later was my favorite sunscreen EVER ! I personally don’t want a mineral sunscreen and it’s only pa +++ vs the old formula which was pa++++. I’m so disappointed they decided to discontinue the original formula.

The other one I recommend that’s fungal acne safe rosacea safe is 2e Uv non chemical by Shiseido U have to google it like that it sells out quick

Even though you can get cheaper version as you said, many of them that you named test on animals and I refuse to use brands do so (Olay and cerave for example). I know ordinary doesn't test on animals, but I was more interested in trying this. I didn't realize it wasn't a mask until I watched your video but I'm still going to try it out. I've been struggling with horrible dry skin lately. Almost anything I put on my skin burns.

It looks the same as Paula’s Choice new Electrolyte Moisturizer that I use at the moment. I swear sometimes they must be working on some products together or maybe Bryan that works for Paula also formulates for Drunk Elephant. As for the Electrolyte Moisturizer is kind of “meh” but better than Protini for sure.
