Drummer reacts to "Jack of Speed" by Steely Dan

Well, we have finally arrived at "Two Against Nature"... after many weeks of saying I was going to do this and then forgetting and then remembering as i'm already editing the video.... we are here! And what an intro to this album... This could have easily fit on Pretzel Logic or anything of the sorts of that era.

Hey, KZread: young Lee gives some of us elderly and retired musicians the will to keep on breathing . Leave him the fuck alone as he’s doing a social service and we love him for it.

You are too kind my friend. It’s just a rough patch in viewership. It happens at the end of the month since I’m usually at the end of the requests. I tend to front load the month with the best videos 😅 but all that to say, yeah. Back off. 🤣🤣👍

Definitely check out Donald’s solo albums. The Nightfly from 1982 tends to get the most attention, and it’s a classic. But its follow-ups shouldn’t be missed. Kamakiriad from 1993 came the closest to being a Steely Dan reunion during that hiatus period. Walter produced the album, played guitar on all of the tracks, and I think even co-wrote one of them.

I say it every chance I get, West of Hollywood is classic SD, reminiscent of their work in Aja and Gaucho. Jack of Speed is such a groove. After twenty years all that’s changed a bit is Donald’s voice. West of Hollywood, West of Hollywood, West of Hollywood. 😊

Lee, it was interesting to hear about your visit with your mother and how you shared music. It’s great that you can do that. Seeing how one’s parents respond to your favorite songs is a fascinating way of getting to know them more deeply, I think. It was a nice Steely Dan song, smooth SD style.

so mad i been missing SD sunday with ya. things be hectic here. SALUT! edit change the bad F bomb for one you can use instead. frik works... "frikken" is was a thing as s kid where im from oh that "frikken kid from math is such a nerd" not saying to use that though, rabbit hole time the actual Fbomb is thought to derive from the German word Fricken "to strike" so historically its a good replacement.. THE MORE YOU KNOW🌈🌟

You really need to investigate some of the tracks from their Plush TV Jazz-Rock Party. It was recorded in a pretty intimate club in NYC and the sound is clean. There's a rendition of JOS with Walter and Jon Herrington playing off each other like Keith Richards and Mick Taylor in the early 70's. Their rendition of Black Friday, FM and Pretzel Logic are just superb. In my opinion, better than the studio. You can drum up the individual tracks on KZread any time. Just type in the track and add "live" and they'll come up. It's got all of Nature, or most of it. All awesome!

I would like you to focus on some live McCartney from the 2000s. There's Back in the US live (20022), the entire concert can be found on youTube, but some of the sites are blocked? Then there is the DVD The Space Between US (2005) which has about 21/3 of the 2005 tour concert but lots of other extras. Again, some of the youTube versions are blocked. but there are some that go through and then there is Good Evening New York City (2009) the concert at the New Citi Field stadium. All have his current band line up that came together for the 2002 tour. BTW that 2002 tour had a wild preshow presentation on stage for 20 minutes before the show. It's hard to describe. And the Space Between Us DVD was in Anaheim with tons of celebs in the audience and a hookup to the space station.
