@@JunkdrummerTV I dont know what made you choose this song to do for him but the man crush is strong for Matt for me even being a guitarist. This isn't nothing compared to how good this man is. And I always said I would follow you if you did a video on Matt, but you have no clue how good he is by this video. Pick another one or let me pick one for you and see how stupid amazing he is and I'll follow. Not that you need my follow but Matt is insanely ridiculous. Technically, they don't identify as a "Christian" band, because not all of them are Christians. But Matt is, and Jake is a Christian as well. So the lyrics tend to lean that direction.

Kinda. They whole heatedly acknowledge Jesus Christ as savior in songs like Redemption. Even one of the members called themselves a Christian band in an interview on Loud Wire I think it was at. Regardless if one believes or one doesn't. They portray Jesus as Lord. Lyrics lean on towards that because of Christian orientation. Like Genesis, in the begining was God. God is first in their music.

Truly appreciate the reaction/review. It's nice to stumble on videos of people reacting to "genres" out of their wheelhouse and giving it an honest unbiased review. I've been an August Burns Red fan since round about when this song came out almost 15 years ago. Matt is hands down my favorite drummer. If I may, I recommend giving his work off of Phantom Anthem or Guardians, their two most recent albums, a listen. Their fundamentals are the same but they have truly evolved. Also, yes they are a christian band. A lot of these bands are and for some reason they all manage to be amazing and that's coming from an agnostic. Once again great vid, man!

That is a maybe decade old video, if you want to see how his technique has progressed check out his video for "Provisions" or "Invisible Enemy". Also, ABR has stated multiple times that they are not a "sacred" band. However, members are religious and it has an influence in their music. Most people assume that they are a "sacred" band because they have music that is high energy with a inspiring or uplifting message.

I feel like this guy would LOVE newer ABR, Phantem Anthem in particular. That’s when Matt’s creativity truly blossoms IMO

You should check out Billy Reimer’s playthrough of “When I Lost My Bet” by his band The Dillinger Escape Plan (RIP). Completely bonkers player.

The best part is he said he intentionally watched an interview with him so he could pronounce his name right and he still butchered his name multiple times LOL. No hate here though, great reaction😁
