Love your commentary on this guy. I've read that hes a stickler for perfection in the studio and refuses to use triggers and tries to impact every hit equally so that producers have little work. Great drummer with so much style
Chris just released a song from his solo album, its recorded one take no quantization. It is ridiculous you gotta check it out, its called 40 roll

Yeah you should definitely go watch it
He’s one of the best drummers in the metalcore scene, the guy is not from this world.

If it turned out that he was a literal machine I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.
Just today I thought „man when is Steve going to do Chris turner?“ and well there we go!
ANTHONY BARONE! His playthrough(s) of Shadow of Intent songs are pretty amazing!
Chris Turner is from another planet. You should check out his most recent video of him recording for I Am Abomination. There’s even a separate behind the scenes vid that was done (I believe by Sabian) that talks about how hard and accurately he hits.

Yes, I believe I watched it. Hes obsessed with not using triggers or anything digitally for improvement and tries to make every hit equal. He also has to do everything in 1 take to perfection to be pleased with it.
I came here to see your reaction to the polyrhythm at 2:45 and I was not disappointed
Chris turner has influenced me a lot even tho I definitely cannot play as good as him It’d be awesome to see you check out Matt garstka playing arithmaphopia or Anthony Barone playing through some shadow of intent
Chris Turner is a fucking legend. Best footwork on the planet
Chris is the goat. such a beast. check out his playthrough of escapist.
Oceans has been a favorite go to for a couple years, esp when I can't decide what I want to listen to. Usually does me right.
Glad to see you react to this guy. Great video! I'd love to see you react to newer Aric Improta. He has improved dramatically since the drum-off video you reacted to. I'd really recommend his Copper Wasp playthrough. I'd also really recommend a Luke Holland video like his Tendinitis playthrough :)
Gotta do his playthrough of escapist. It's stunning. Great reaction!
Love when you dissect him man. Love your stuff
Ocean ate alaska Escapist next ❤❤❤
Great content as always.👍
You NEEEED to react to Chris playing Escapist. Insanely complex and amazing song. Loved this. Just found your channel. Keep it up brother 😎👏
Repost from a previous video. 😁 How about a reaction to Matt Horn from The Word Alive performing Hounds of Anubis. There are two great videos out there, one being a live video where drums are isolated and one where he seems to be playing at home. The latter would probably be a good starting point so you can hear the whole musical range of the song. Cheers!
Great video, as always! I'd love to see you react to Aric Improta again, playing through one of his songs with Night Verses. If you want a truly live video, check out his playthrough of No.0, but his playthroughs of Copper Wasp, Vice Wave, and Earthless are incredible, too (the last one being my personal favorite).
Amaaaazing
Greatreaction! CT has indeed reached a cosmic level!
Chris is a beast
I gotta see you do more cause his drumming in the next album was some how even better and crazier yet it sounded more composed
Dude, the whole pre/post Internet thing felt right. Assimilation. That was good insight, as were many other ideas you mentioned. And I really dig how genuine you seem. Speaking naturally, unfiltered, and intelligently. Awesome vid. I just happened across your channel, and I'll be back. Liked and subbed ^_^

“That is what music will sound like when the robots take over” Well put sir. Lol
Yeah you gotta check the 40 roll out! Chris’s solo project is tight.
You have amazingly quick listening and analysing skills! It seems nobody else is able to actually comment on what Chris is doing in real time. Everybody else's "reaction videos" on Chris are slack jaws, WTF?, helpless laughing and speechlessness. Please react to 40 roll!
You HAVE to see him drum for heir to the throne by I am Abomination.

Agreed!
I see the title, get the popcorn and prepare to laugh at the faces of the teachers..
Gotta do Mike Ieradi from Protest the Hero. Great drummer with beautiful playthrough vids and impressive feel
should watch Chris Turner's Escapist playthrough!! blew me away
Dan Presland playing, As Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope :)
The best pedal, from Chris alien Turner
Brody Smith from Satyr
doug court from sirens and sailors, really talented dude
As someone who barely understands music theory (might be generous to say that I know the basics lol), I also can't help but wonder what goes in to writing these drum parts. It's gotta be 1000 notes broken up into 100 segments condensed into 3-4 minutes lol. If you watch Chris Turner's face while he's playing it's like you can see that he is straight up seeing the notes in his mind's eye scrolling past his face like he's playing rockband. Dude has some of the most intense focus I've ever seen.
Josean Orta from fit for an autopsy, that man controls the band so well and makes it look effortless. Check him out
Have you seen any of David Dockery’s stuff? Boomhauer w/ drums and Pepe Silvia w/ drums are my favorites
You HAVE TO DO ESCAPIST by them it’s SOOOOO GOOD
Mike Ileradi of protest the hero playing bloodmeat
only Oceans Ate Alaska that using ghost note in metal music! it's pretty rare!

@@dragulia_venaro youll find it in songs you already know probably. Theyre always hidden away. My favourite example is in bleed by meshuggah. Its such an iconic drum line but is covered in ghost notes on the snare that cant be heard on the track Veil of maya and chelsea grin use alot of similar techniques that OAA use. You should defo check them out Bleeding sun by chelsea grin Mikasa by veil of maya

This is good but his new stuff, 40 roll, and even better, Tirggered ft Thomas Lang is a must see
You really need to check out 40 Roll by Chris Turner
If you want fancy cymbal work then it's MGLA. You could describe the drumming there as a windchime in a wind tunnel over steady blast beats.
You should react to Escapist drum playthrough. Or the I am abomination playthrough. This dude is top notch!
You really need to check out 40 Roll
He's serious.
I'd love to see you react to John Stanier from Battles

Love the videos my friend, you should check out the drummer from the band Toe. I think he has a really fluid style. Would love to hear your opinion.
Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint please.... She's a legend 🙏
Chris Turner - straight up drums DW is a must. Much better audio and video
You should react to Chris Corsano ”famously short arms”

This dudes reaction 20 seconds in is like when you are confident about a 10,000,000 scoville hot sauce and you immediately don't know how to handle it or respond.
React to Matt Greiner from August Burns Red playing Paramount
Chris is for drum teachers what Devin Townsend is to voice coaches.
Mans said Chris Turner is the singularity...and I dont think hes wrong
Nathan Camarena next!
Please do garaj mahal
OCEANS ATE ALASKA - ESCAPIST
Shoulda done escapist for Chris turner
Funny enough as oaa fans we call him a robot
From what've seen i would say chris turner is probably the god of triplets.

Oceans ate alaska songs do have lyrics. He took them out to hear the drums better for this video
They are not instrumental! This song has vocals.
still pushing for Nick D'Virgilio, lol.

What's the name of your stoner/sludge band and have you been in any other bands in that style previously?

I never say the name of my bands just because I'm trying to stay anonymous, but no. That's my first metal band.
How can you not talk about his double bass whatsoever?
You mean to tell me you do not hear the effects? the attack is shortened the decay is extended this gear makes autotune look like a 45 RPM record.Well NOTHING you hear is coming from HIM. the video has been extensibility edited I'm sure for realist qualities. I am sure Bonahn would have had a trip with this gear. GENX - we know where the triX are 🎇

Lots and lists of amazing technique and execution. Still. I really don’t like the sound of his drums. It sounds tinny and slight.
