Oh yeah from New England...Ok we have the stink face for metal and now Andrew went and invented the funk face..lol...This kind of funk will certainly put a smile on a person's face if they're having a bad day...Once again you bring us (me) a new killer drummer...I heard him sneak in that BONAM triple stroke on the kick drum...Top notch stuff..Peace from the Northeast...

I think the ride is a Meinl Byzance 21 inch Transition Ride, a lovely thing.

Damien is a super underrated drummer.

I don't think I've ever heard of him either. That was fun. Reminded me of when my hands and feet get lost trying a fill but my head still has the beat. Only difference is I'm bullshitting it. He's doing it on purpose. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Andy!! I am away on a vacation trip, but just saw your reaction now while on the road!! Glad you liked it!!! It's all about the feel and mood, getting into the groove. Gettin' FUNKY!! Damien is from France and cool you subbed to his channel. He can play pretty much anything. He plays jazz fusion with the Jean Loc Ponty Band in France, as well as with many other artists. He also plays funk, hip hop and some metal drumming will influence his chops. He is a very musical drummer, has great ear and feel. That's where it's at for me. Glad I could introduce you to a new drummer! 🥁🥁🥁🎵👍🔥

Just recently subscribed! I don't know how familiar you are with King Crimson, but they've had some very interesting drummers over the years, including Michael Giles and Bill Bruford. I really loved the "double-trio" version of KC, which had BB & Pat Mastelotto, and their album "Thrak" is a masterpiece. The current incarnation of KC has 3 drummers playing together. Pat Mastelotto, Jeremy Stacey and Gavin Harrison, along with Bill Rieflin, playing keyboards! There's a great video of the song "Indiscipline live in Mexico City" from their official website. Seeing 3 drummers playing at once is really something.

Check out " Roy Mayorga" Was the Drummer for SOULFLY on 3 records, multi tours & current Stone Sour drummer ( Corey Taylor singer of Slipknot) other band Roy is a killer drummer & hell of a great guy has some good footage

God that snare sound is just BIBLICAL.

Well Andrew, i think to continue with great drum intro's and to have more female on this channel, plus young drummers i think Junna - Painkiller from Judas Priest would be a good suggestion.

How do you like the sound of his snare? I donno why. Maybe I'm stuck in 2002. But I love high tuned drums with that CRACK and deafness on rim shots. But for thus style of music - I actually don't mind the snare being so.dense sounding and low. But I still think that a Snare like Larnell used with snarky puppy would sound better haha. Also - that bass drum looks so long. I would habe thought it would.have s bigger sound like the bass drum in "when the levee bresks" haha. Sounds good tho either way. An I love his hat and ride sounds. Such a funky drum tons.

I was watching your backlog of videos this morning and while jamming out to some Leprous with Baard it reminded me a little bit of a band not around anymore. Last I checked there's no high quality footage of the song being played, but I'd love to hear your reaction about the song "Mothra" by Atomship. Even just a reply, doesn't have to be a video about it. I wonder why this band didn't have more staying power?! I thought they were musically gifted and it was produced well. I think around that era the most popular bands were the catchiest, not necessarily the most talented.

Great idea

I always thought the best music to showcase your talent was funk. It's an everything goes , no rules genre. You can spend a week inside that pocket.

My first introduction to Damien Schmitt was about 10 years ago with him playing this his-I believe-signature song. I really enjoyed what I saw today but have to say that the original from 2011 still has a certain innocence and fun factor that I miss here. Damien has always struck me a total character and I think to witness that fully you owe it to yourself to view his first video of this song back from 2011. Even if you don't react to it I know you'll enjoy it. I feel the drumming is a tad cleaner and "simpler" which projects the funkiness of the number beautifully. Damien is quite literally a danger to any drum kit, he's just not normal, he's classically trained,from France,his Father Daniel is a composer at the French conservatory of music.
