All the KZread hyperactive chops monsters display their acquired-by-rote-practice mega-chops in a framework of rather unremarkable, conventional music. Prolonged showboating solos over chord changes quickly become boring. What is especially interesting is new music which is beyond category, that challenges our notions of what we think music is. In this context, I have yet to see a "drumming instruction" video on KZread that addresses the techniques & approaches required for playing in free time.

@ericmalone3213
Ай бұрын
@@Groov3lab "KZread hyperactive chops monster" & "showboater" are not pejorative terms, they're just the way some people decide to present themselves. Buddy Rich was a chops monster showboating drummer & he was one of the all time greats. The young gentleman in this video is obviously a pro, I'm not "judging him off on [I believe you meant to write 'one'] performance," I said that prolonged solos over conventional chord changes quickly become boring. As Bill Bruford pointed out, drummers are in a situation now where their advanced skill level is not properly contextualized by commercial music, so they end up en mass at Vic Firth Drum Offs soloing at each other. Drummers who have especially interested me are not known for playing inverted paradiddles at a gazillion miles an hour, but rather, they're drummers whose unique abilities were applied to new music: Sunny Murray, Tony Oxley, Paul Lytton, Mark Sanders, Mark Guiliana, to name a few. People who post KZread videos tend to be preoccupied with a commercial aesthetic. I'm interested in new music that is beyond category (i.e., beyond conventional marketing strategies) CHEERS.

Good start? Feel free to show a video of you doing better. The fact he was highlighting the backbeat with his stack whilst showcasing excellent chops and doing so live was tasty af. The double pedal recommendation is lame too btw. He doesn't need it

@ajdrums8075 i got plenty of vids, and decades of exp. Any style of drums --- have playing All styles for prob longer than you have been alive. It is a good start, Don't get mad, just keep practicing novice. And i did not say 'double pedal ' bitch. I Said Double bass. There is a ton that drummers can learn from practicing all styles and drum set-ups, it is just a suggestion from expert

That's right. Share a lot but the issue here they all play the same patterns now if you're really good you can catch the overplay good drummer same routines over and over and over
Match grip drummer says it all
Boring. Too busy. Too ostentatious.
Dam bro your struggling 🔥😮💨
Hola
Bad style eh
All the KZread hyperactive chops monsters display their acquired-by-rote-practice mega-chops in a framework of rather unremarkable, conventional music. Prolonged showboating solos over chord changes quickly become boring. What is especially interesting is new music which is beyond category, that challenges our notions of what we think music is. In this context, I have yet to see a "drumming instruction" video on KZread that addresses the techniques & approaches required for playing in free time.

@@ericmalone3213 once again I hear ya... I used to love watching Zakgrooves but not so much these days... I don't hear the groove lol He's definitely what you call a KZread showboater. But who's this dude? You're judging him off one performance. When I was gigging I had killer nights and not so great nights, I pray to God there ain't footage out there of a not so good performance 😂 That aside you're 100% correct with your O.G comment.
