Dude, no way! Congrats, that is such an incredible moment! When I was about 11 or 12 years old, I caught a 9 1/2 pound largemouth by our lake house. I yelled out to my dad to come outside and help me land it. I’ll never forget that day.

Awesome mad skills and intuition! I bet you learned more from that 1 fish than most of us will ever learn in a lifetime of catching smaller ones. Congratulations. Ty you're going to have to start feeding that fish. Lol. It looks like it's probably ate just about everything else out of whatever impoundment it's in. Lol! That is a Beast of a Bass!!Always listen to your gut! It's definitely proven it's worth! Happy Fishing buddy!❤🎉😂

Years ago I caught my first bass over 6lbs doing the same thing. I saw them spawning and there was a kid there who said a guy had tried to catch them but they wouldn’t bite. I asked the kid to leave them alone and I went on fishing the rest of the pond. I came back 45 minutes later and pitched my jig to the area they were spawning and she choked it. I even went as far as to sneak back up crouched and stayed behind a tree like 5 feet off the bank.

I'm retired in Portugal...there's no fishing for bass (achiga) from March 15 - May 15 ....to protect the spawn from a population that doesn't yet understand catch & release of this imported gamefish. I loved spending the time it would take to work a bedding fish - especially the queen.
