If you came to this channel 20 years ago or in the past week, thanks for watching. The old videos are still there, but the path forward looks a little different (sorry Prank War fans). PS sign up for Dropout and get a bunch of good as heck shows and support an independent comedy streaming service. Still need convincing? Go watch 100 Game Changer Shorts, I bet you'll be down to try the free trial at least.

@@redditrecall439 i mean, they were the brand (so they can leech off their brand all they want). then collegehumor ceased to exist, but sam wanted to save it by through dropout, which had barebones employees to cut down on spending (like Mike and Brennan while others are all fired). Collegehumor was also going downhill at that point, their view counts were a lot lower compared to their hey day and it was clear they were fizzling out for some time. And honestly, their first show was a DnD show which was a gamble. Sure Critical Role was pretty well known at that time, but it was likely the only tabletop/ actual play game that was getting high no. of views. So yes, the sudden explosion of tabletop/ actual play games' popularity throughout the covid pandemic was "dumb luck". We were all stuck inside, and had a lot of time for watching new shows or rediscovering our old passion for dnd. No one could've predicted this was gonna happen - so yes, dumb luck.

One of the things ive rlly liked about Dropout so far has been the times when they pause and bring attention to the crew behind-ish the scenes. The d20 sets, just about every prop of Game Changer, and the laughs behind the cameras not just left in but *subtitled* (thank y'all, i have bad ears)- these things don't just happen off the power of the big faces. It's a bigger team effort than that and I appreciate it every time. Y'all have been me and my fiance's favorite since the plauge first struck and I don't see that changing soon. Y'all have a good one! :D

@@shreym03 I agree for the ammount of content, but not the style and crew. from what i have seen, and my experience, watcher works because shane and ryan are fun to watch. I do not know if i would care if one or both left. however, dropout already had a team of on camera personalities to do many of the shows. also, dropout does release some of its content on youtube still. they do many shorts for each episode of their shows, and sometimes full episodes. the way watcher presented it was as if there would be nothing on youtube anymore also, watcher has a patreon they will still have while from my understanding dropout does not. and a lot is luck and timing. I feel like there were not as many streaming services 5 years ago compared to today. to watch the tv shows i like, its at minimum 5 seperate services. 5 years ago, all i needed was cable and netflix and i had access to everything (anime was also easier to pirate so). now dropout is established enough for its own brand. they also were not still using the college humor name for this shift. I just think there are a lot more factors at play than just youtube to streaming jump

Love the enthusiasm and the honesty. You could always turn the company into a co-op, especially if you fear that the company might not survive the next recession or big economic catastrophe. Co-ops are known for being much more resilient both in economic downturns and in general. And you would put the worker's rights (and sustaining the company and therefore the quality content) at the first priority because they then have a guaranteed a say in how the company is being run.

Cannot overstate how happy I am for y’all. I also can’t overstate how proud I am for all your hard work and all the leaps y’all have taken. Not to mention the fact that y’all seem to really take care of your people (even Brennan) I feel genuinely proud to be a dropout subscriber.

Love your content. Subscriber for years, love it. The only thing I miss is the sketches. As expensive and silly as they are to make...I still watch them to this day. If you ever get to a point where you can make sketches again, I will get two subscriptions. That's a promise.

I remember watching CollegeHumour in my mid teens. I had no idea it would grow into this. This is possibly the business I am most proud to support. You guys are transparent, creative, entertaining, and it's clear everybody involved is in love with what you're doing. I love how it's never felt like it's about the money, I love how everybody is totally open with their identities and supportive of one another (and it's not treated like a big thing), and I just can't get over how this feels like one of the most successful creative labours of love I've ever had the joy of supporting. You're all wonderful people, and I hope to still be supporting you guys in another 5 years' time.

i love you guys and your company. I've been watching college humor for over 14 years, and im so glad it's still going, even though it's changed a lot. there's no one else that's putting out such quality comedy content these days, and I hope dropout can continue to thrive and survive whatever worldwide catastrophes come our way. im actually very glad they defunded collegehumor, since now it gets to be free and run by the people who really care about it.

I have a bit of sadness at seeing Collegehumor gone. The name, the logo, even the "HUHH" sound, were all a part of my life growing up, but that feeling is overwhelmed by a feeling of pride and joy in Sam and the team of Dropout. Ive been subscribed to dropout since day 1 and watching you all grow is truly revolutionary. Keep on moving forward and do your thing. Youre all true Game Changers!

Hey, Sam, gang here. Every show on Dropout has a spark of passion behind it and driving it. I don't think I've watched a single show where I thought any of the cast didn't want to be part of the shoot. Don't be afraid to stick with what you love, and don't be afraid to try new things. Follow the passion and joy, and keep things genuine, and I'll write another comment on the 10 year anniversary video.
