I mean "drone strike" is now synonymous with a big drone firing air to ground missiles. Not really the same as drones just flying around. Kinda like saying "bird attack" instead of "bird strike". Bird strike is widely considered to be birds flying into the engines, while if you say "bird attack", it makes it sound like the birds were latched onto the plane and pecking at the fuselage XD
Lets be honest. the more chaotic your journey. The better the content. :-D Your misery is our enjoyment. Great Vid. And fair play to your insurance company for dealing with it all in a professional mannner. Plenty these days would try to worm out of it.
I remember flying with continental before they were bought by united sometime before 9/11 as a kid. Really made an impact because the pilot let me step in the cockpit during the flight and even back then I was into aviation since my father always played flight simulator. They even gave me a pin which I had for several years.
Wow, a United flight that was acutally good!

I did it once, a vacation to Tokyo. I missed the flight due to my own fault, so I had to pay another ticket myself. But I was determined to leave that day, so I bought a $3000 flight from Norway to Japan, and arrived in Japan about 4 hours after my original plan. I just started working back then, so I wasn't too aware how fast money can leave my wallet. I'll never do that again, but I do miss my more naive days 😅

As an aviation and a drone enthusiast, I can honestly say, this is disgraceful. The rule is very clear that you can not fly within 5 km of an airport, and it isn’t too difficult to simply not fly near an airport. Even if you do accidentally fly into airspace, it should just come as common sense to stay away from an airport. And now the governments have thousands of drone rules and laws which are being put in place because of the small handful of simpletons ruining drones for everyone else, and potentially causing danger to aircraft
I've flown on United before in economy of course. From Heathrow to New York I enjoyed flying with them best part was getting to listen to air traffic control. I even got to listen to chatter between pilots and other pilots in other planes going over Atlantic which I found amusing. United are great airline. I UK based airlines would let us listen to airtriffic control while onboard.
Your experience makes me feel better that I bought travel insurance for my summer trip to Europe in June.
'Whatever morning it was.' Been there, done that lol
Went United premium plus right behind business class too Sydney to San Francisco on a Dreamliner and it was great! Ideal for a long haul flight.
I am pleased that you were pleasantly surprised at what you got on board your United Airlines flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco. They are not really an airline that I would choose fly with for a few reasons. But given the kind of day that you had I can well understand why you would love the extra legroom and the glass of wine together with a very nice airline meal. This is one of the up sides to unforeseen circumstances such as the airport drone attack.
Wow hope you feel better reached home safe at least made it
I know the feeling of being the last one on the plane. Last year I traveled from BHX to LIS via Zurich and was the last one to board the plane (15 minutes late) because of a hold up at the swiss immigration and a delayed inbound flight.
In early May 2017 I missed a connection at Heathrow - partly due to a somewhat short time window and partly due to incredibly slow security line (changing terminals). Originally it was LAX to Heathrow, then Marseilles. Fortunately there was a nice couple returning home to Marseille in the same boat as me, We three went to the airline who got us to Heathrow (big positive shout out to the nice folks at Air New Zealand!) and they got us on Brussels Air to Brussels, change planes, then on to Marseille. Got to Marseille Airport around midnight and my checked bag came down the luggage carousel, I grabbed a bus to the main train station in Marseilles then rolled down hill to my hotel. Sure, I got in 6 hours late, but I got there. Had a great time there and then had 2 great weeks in Cannes. The lessons learned - allow more time for connecting flights, and try yo pick flights that arrive/leave from the same terminal.
Thanks for the vid, Noel! I’d really like to know which software (10:30) do you use to show the flight path in your videos.
Your taxi ride and travel problem reminded me of something I went through. During the Christmas holiday's in 2005, My car broke down in Truckee California on New Years Eve on my way home to San Jose in the early afternoon, Truckee is a ski resort town near Donner summit. My car was towed to a gas station with a mechanics garage but they could not check it out for a few days, so I had to find transportation home. This was during a major storm as well. But in this instance, it was rain, not snow, and caused interstate 80 to be closed in the direction to California near the Nevada border, which I would find out later. I was going buy a Greyhound bus ticket home since there are only two hotels in Truckee, and both booked solid for the holiday ski season, at expensive prices. I called for a taxi to pick me up at the garage since the bus terminal, which is also a train terminal and very tiny, was not walking distance, especially in this weather. But when I got there, the ticket agent said the bus from Reno was just canceled due to interstate 80 being closed due to a landslide from hours of heavy rain. I was stranded, and nowhere to stay. But the bus ticket agent told me some stranded skiers who were going to fly home from Reno were also stranded in Truckee and chartered an SUV taxi in Truckee to take them to the Sacramento airport. All I needed to find out if there was room for one more person. It was nerve racking waiting for the taxi to arrive to find out if there was room, and it would be the only 4-wheel drive SUV taxi that day. Fortunately, there was room for one more person. It would cost $200 per person. Instead of going to Sacramento airport, it was decided we should drive to San Francisco Airport for a better chance of getting a flight to Boston, where my fellow travelers were flying home, plus I would not have to catch a bus in Sacramento, if I could even get a bus ride back to San Jose. We got there around 10:30 pm. Pretty good timing too despite the iced road conditions in the Sierras. From KSFO airport, I called my brother to pick me up and was home before midnight, New Years Eve. I got out of Truckee just in time because a major snow storm arrived after the rains, road closures again, and Truckee had a long power outage the next day in freezing weather. Thank God for the Taxi ride! I went back a week later to pick up my car in Truckee. They could not fix the problem and I had to rent a U-haul with a trailer to bring my car back. That part was a hassle too, driving 4 hours each way. A friend drove me to Reno and I picked up the U-haul there. Just on the gas alone for the U-Haul truck was about $100 one way. This whole episode cost me $1000.

No he doesn’t. He films anyone and everyone around him, so many children in his videos he is too lazy to blur. It’s so rude. He complains about other people’s behaviour all the time but imagine someone sat next to you on a flight try to covertly film you.
I flew United's Premium Plus shortly before the pandemic from Paris CDG to Washington IAD. I liked it, I'd say its fairly equivalent to domestic first class with the wider seat and more leg room, pretty good meal too. Its also a quiet area with only a few rows. Its good for the day time westbound Europe to US routes, but going in the other direction eastbound its a redeye, so if you can get business class in that direction its better since its a flat bed seat, while Premium Plus is not a flat bed.
Another great video. When you are able to fly again (when the borders reopen), I definitely recommend you try out Virgin Atlantic’s Premium Economy. I’ve flown in all three of their classes, and I’d say that their premium cabin isn’t far off the upper class one.
With the amount of flying you do it's surprising something like this doesn't happen more often.

AB The average speed on the autobahn (where you’ve clearly never driven) is about 110km/h and it’s often limited to just 100km/h. 140km/h is the speed here. 140mph (225km/h) is race car territory. In fact, the highest Formula 1 average race speed (winner) is 247.585km/h (153.842mph). An E200 cdi (a typical German cab, as is the one in the video) was tested on a speed rink and its maximum speed was 145mph (on a closed course, with a professional driver). A full taxi on a public road, with customers and a sane driver will never even go 90mph. In fact, I doubt it could physically go over 100mph.
Weird, I was in Nuremberg myself only a week ago. Made the most of a planned visit while loads cancelled over the Covid 19 event.
Well, if its any consolation to you, the drone delay did make for an epic video. My heart missed a beat when you revealed the cost of that United flight- thank gawd you got it back from your travel insurance! My solution to the drone problem is to totally ban the things. There is a drone problem on one of the "Ultimate Airport Dubai" programs- a helicopter is immediately scrambled to shoot it down. Unfortunately, it disappeared before they could catch sight of it. This video is somewhere on KZread.
