Driving the Mergellandroute, Netherlands
Driving the Mergellandroute in the southern-most point of the Netherlands. Part of the route is the Epenerbaan (1:10:16 - 1:17:33), which was titled the "best road in the Netherlands" by Autoblog.nl: • The best road in the N... .
The route leads past the Vaalserberg, translated as "Vaalsermountain" in English, although it's more like a hill. Nevertheless, this is as hilly as it gets in the Netherlands. There were a few curves which were nice to Dutch standards, but nothing like roads found in the Alps. I guess we can conclude there are no nice roads in the Netherlands :-)
I drove the Mergellandroute on a Saturday morning, and it was packed with cyclists and slow drivers. If you happen to be around, it's a nice ride, but I wouldn't drive far to get there.
I followed this route: www.routeyou.com/en-gb/route/.... Loaded the KML file in Google Maps, but while driving the route disappeared every 5 seconds. As a result, I took a few wrong turns, which you can tell by the cuts in the video. If anybody knows a good iOS app to navigate using KML files, let me know in the comments!

Also, I want to mention that from start to finish you have passed in total 22 traffic lights, 119 speed bumps and you have made in total from the bus stop at Maastricht Airport to the same bus stop exactly with the cut scenes 112.5 km! The Netherlands is very beautiful and I adore its good, peaceful people And I wish I could visit her for one day, walk the streets. And I have number one favorite Dutch team and I always hear the anthem so beautiful.

I must say, the drive was not bad at all, and it was nice to see also some other types of landscapes. I am also a big fan of mountain roads, but also roads like this can be really beautiful and nice to drive.
I came to this video through another video of yours. I am also a real fan of beautiful mountain rides. And although I have been photographing and also making videos for more than fifty years, I have hardly ever made video recordings during my own mountain rides. And there have been many in the past fifty years. And actually it has only been possible for an amateur filmmaker to do this in the past ten years. And now because of Corona I will not travel myself. But I'm verry happy that I can can enjoy on your KZread channel many beautiful rides. What also strikes me is that the video recordings are very sharp and very beautiful in color. About fifty years ago I took the train to Maastricht and then rented a regular city bike at the station. I then cycled the Mergelland route by bicycle. I was on the road all day. But on the way, along this beautiful route, several times sat on a terrace at a restaurant. And every time with a large piece of apricot flan while drinking. Thanks for creating and sharing. 🎥👌👍🙏

This looks amazing, though the first video I watched of yours that helped me discover your channel (Driving the Maloja Pass, Switzerland & Italy) looks even more incredible. I'm a hobby cyclist (and not one of the ones that hogs the road) and would absolutely love to be able to cycle both of these places. You film some really great videos and I hope your channel continues to grow so you can continue to show people these beautiful places.

My wife and I are looking at the area to live in. The only place with enough hills to remind her of her home country England. Oh, and those number on the speed limit signs are in km per hour, not miles.
I just enjoyed the ride in this beautifull part of the Netherlands. But I was curious, why did you drive it this way around? If you drive it the other way around, the whole route is signposted and much easier to follow. This is one four older routes in Holland that still is signposted. But still, a great drive!

Leuk. 1 van mooiste gebieden in Nederland, op de Waddeneilanden na, misschien.
Ahh Limburg, aka the Dutch Mountains. These are the highest peaks of the whole country. There is one almost 800 FEET!!! I don't think anyone ever climbed it.

Actually 1058 Ft ;). Its the second highest point ( Mt Scenery is 3000 ft )
For me it is December 2020.... And I just wanted to see Blue Sky`s...... I have been to Holland many times it is a Beautiful Country, not spectacular but it still has a charm all of it`s own.... It is good to see how much effort they put in to keep cyclist`s safe, but my God there are a lot of them!!! Was it a weekend?? Take care and stay safe and keep posting.. :-))))

I live there. It is a beautiful region with many different faces. BUT: driving here with a car faster than 20 km/h is impossible. Bicycle after bicycle after bicycle after.... And the car drivers are even worse. Slower than the bicycles, but on 4 wheeles. Sometimes I wish that my sports car was equipped like the Aston Martin of 007.
