It's been a few months since I've been able to put out my own driving fail compilation, but July was a bit of an eye-opener.

8:16 As a bus driver I see that a lot, cars just waiting behind when they have an opportunity to pass. On one occasion I stopped at a unused bus stop with my hazard lights (parked) to get some lunch (it is legal and didn't cause an obstruction) When I walked to the back there was a queue of traffic due to one driver thinking I was part of the imaginary traffic. I instructed her to move around the bus since I was clearly parked at a bus stop. The problem was she was following so closely and not paying attention to my intentions, so she couldn't see what was happening ahead. I found the whole situation funny.

I used to love being a bus driver 18yrs ago, except early morning with the ones that got on waving a 20 for a small fair, don't know if its changed but drivers had to supply their own float, which never covered changing a 20 at start, but ruined your day if you found fake coins you had missed when clocking off 😢.

@@will4may175 There are only a few flat fares we have to deal with, but many passengers pay via contactless or purchase on the App. We are given a £50 float on day 1 of employment, but that must be handed back when we leave the company. Every few months for some reason my float becomes smaller (possibly due to buying lunch from the float), so I need to top it up.

As regards to the type of people parking as close as they can legally or illegally to shops etc it usually translates to the fact that they are lazy, impatient and easily distracted drivers too eg cutting corners/roundabouts, using mobile phones and as we watched driving over pavements. To top it off he did not even signal as he pulled away.

In short, just do it to pass the final driving test. I watch these vid's and learn. The starting quote shows a failure of mine that I'd never thought about, but it resonated with me immediately. 2:19 - I had something similar happen. She dropped the cup down the side of the car. Luckily most of it went down the side of the outside, but a few drops went inside the car. To be fair, they were very good about it. I just went in and obtained a copy of their liability insurance documentation. I got the car valeted, washed, and the door card removed and cleaned inside. Their insurance paid fully for the £750 worth of work, and when I wrote to their customer complaints department, they were even good enough to send me £50 in vouchers for free food. It shows that getting angry and violent is never worth it. Remain calm, collect fact, document everything. In the long run, it's always fincially beneficial.

I've noticed such a difference in the last couple of weeks on the roads, especially the motorways and dual carriageways. During lockdown driving was really nice, everyone just happy chilling at 70mph mostly in the left or middle lane, now it's more busy you get people undertaking, middle lane hogging, not indicating and just sharply changing lanes, it's so much more tense. Local roads not much better, lot more idiots pulling out in front of you causing a need to slam on the brakes, I miss lockdown roads.

Around me the 70mph limit didn't exist 😂 every driver was doing 80 to 100+ mph and still hogging the middle lane

I've also rediscovered how poor people are at driving (that's just the past few weeks). Also, I get the impression that they give vent to their frustration from being locked-down for so long.

I was behind a transit van last week on way home from work and after following him for a couple of miles, we both had stopped at some traffic lights, when deciding he had enough of the red light, calmly drove off at least a minute before it had changed to green, caught up with him further up the road where he decided to change lane without checking his mirrors and nearly hitting me, from when I first came across him and parted ways, the guy was clearly too busy chatting to his mate beside him, yet if you beep them to warn you of your presence, they get funny with you even though they are the crap driver.

8:05 there was nothing wrong with that clip, there's a roundabout literally right next to the bus stop, you don't know if the bus is breaking to slow down to come onto the roundabout or if hes coming to a stop at the bus stop. By the time it becomes apparent that the bus is stopping, you're already in the right hand lane at speed so he cant just move over after slowing down.

The truck is at least 18 tons of rage at 5:23 .. I'd let it go on its way .. seemingly in a hurry and not entirely caring of the surroundings.. Gotta love people who just have to cut in front of you just to reach the other side of the road to get into the turning lane they could reach behind you in 2 more seconds .. The virus is 'gone' so life returns to the good old 'rush where you can, time is money' .. instead of planning forth and evaluating all possibilities.

3:30 - I think the problem with that street is that it's too wide and there are no lane markings so it gives the impression (despite the signage) that it's 2 way, because it _seems_ wide enough to accomodate 2 cars travelling in opposite directions. Personally (and I'm still relatively inexperienced), I find I spend a lot more time looking at the car in front of me than on road signs, so perhaps better markings and arrows painted on the road, (or even left turn only arrows on the driveways) might help educate drivers. You did a video a while ago about how local knowledge can be deceiving. Could it also be that it used to be a 2 way street, which is also what is leading so many people to do this?

If we're recounting idiots, I have many stories, one that comes to mind is the day I had a car do an illegal u-turn right in front of me without indicating forcing me to slam on the brakes, cursed a bit and went back on my way, only for a second driver to do the EXACT same thing, not 200 yards in front of me, this time not long after leaving a roundabout! It's baffling sometimes, there was another roundabout not far up the road where they could have made a u-turn, not to mention a car park on their left they could have easily turned around in! As for people pulling out between stopped cars, this terrified me when I was on my scooter, you go slow but it happens all the time, not peeping and not creeping, sometimes they don't see you when there aren't any obstructions and you're wearing a high vis jacket with lights on, some of them will move their cars over to try and stop you filtering through traffic, as if they are so mad that you are able to pass that they feel they have to threaten you with their vehicles, I'm allowed to filter, you are protected from the elements, seems like a fair trade-off to me, plus when it's clear you can easily reach your destination faster than I can! Always expect the unexpected, I can understand people make mistakes, we're all human, but people can be downright reckless, especially when they are in a rush, struggling to get to work on time? Leave 20 minutes earlier, then you won't have to rush!

First comment I have regarding the truck overtaking stationary traffic... That's just stupid and wreckless. Somebody could walk out behind a high sided vehicle that the truck driver couldn't see and wham, dead. Second comment regarding the other driver wanting to use the m58 and then veering across the lines... Well, I'm glad nothing really came of it but better forward planning would have helped him. I'm not sure if he changed his mind or if he was in the wrong lane but damn he left it super late.

What he should've done was accept the mistake and let the stupid thing sort itself out. That white merc was typical of the roundabouts down here in London and the SE, lane discipline? What's that then?
