Driving at Night - Rules & Tips for Beginners

Knowing how to drive at night is a handy skill that most drivers need to learn. Driving at night is often scary for new drivers. You need to keep track of new things, such as when to use your high beams and low beams, and driving can often feel more exhausting - this is because you often have to focus more when driving at night. Hazards and other road users are also much harder to spot at night, leading to increased reaction times and more accidents.
Most students receive inadequate nighttime driving practice with a supervisor. Instead, most of the time is spent learning specific skills during the day like how to parallel park. This leads to many new drivers learning how to drive at night on their own, which is far from optimal.
In this video, Jacqueline goes through her best tips for driving at night, what you need to remember, and common mistakes student drivers make when driving at night the first time(s).

hey Jacqueline quick question, when someone wants to merge into your lane Orr change lanes in general.. do you normally let off the gas or is it better to slightly brake instead? love ur videos btw

For me I’m a young driver extremely young, And when I feel like I’m going At a good speed I take my foot off the gas. I don’t drive to fast or too slow but usually when someone tries to enter my lane I let my foot off the gas and slightly brake just enough to where I’m slowed down ❤️🙏🏽. Stay safe (the free way is another story it’s alot more to lookout for)

New driver here that has been driving regularly for about a year. My way: I tend to just merge over to the left if safe, since the right lane tends to be the highest risk for crashes on freeways. I try to avoid speed changes unless absolutely necessary

Maintaining a 3 second rule if we see the car in front braking do we start applying brakes gently starting at 1 second correct? Coz if we start braking at 2 second then we will have only two second to respond. May be a stupid question. Just curious.
