Driving At Night - Part 1
Driving At Night - Part 1. In this video: The different light positions on the switch and on the dashboard and what they do, using reflections on the parked vehicles and on the asphalt, barely visible road users, fatigue and alcohol, and what to do before and after leaving the car when you’ve parked.

Note: Something that seems to be causing some confusion with some people, when I say that the daytime running lights are sometimes also called fog lights, what I mean is, that's what people call them sometimes, because they use them for that purpose. The switch for the real fog lights is a different switch, and it's not available on all vehicles. The fog lights are a different set of lights and they're usually located on the front bumper.
Note2: While I try to make my videos as universal as possible, rules and laws may vary according to the place where you’re driving and might be different from the ones in this video. Always drive according to the laws and rules that apply to the place where you are driving. Requirements at the driving exam may also be different than the ones shown here. Always respect the requirements that apply to the place where you are passing your driving exam. The distances illustrated in this video might vary depending on the driver’s height, the size and type of the vehicle and so on. This video is not legal advice, and is not meant to replace your official driving courses. By doing anything presented in this video, you assume full responsibility for anything that may happen.

I just got my licence, and today when I drove in the evening, I used the daytime light thinking it's the regular light. Fortunately, no accident happened. Thank you for your helpful videos!!

Yeah it's because the icons for both the daytime running lights and the normal lights are the same, whereas the high beams icon is the only differentiating icon to know when they're on. And trust me, I also made that mistake as well~ Fortunately, my car now doesn't have an off position, but instead always defaults to automatic, where there's a sensor near the windshield of my car so that it knows when to turn on the lights depending on the amount of ambient light outside.

I dont see any difference in daytimelight and regular light...does it impact to others??
@MicroSD16Gb
4 жыл бұрын
@@sanilmaharjan5227 there are two lights, daytime running lights are sometimes just small lights in front or it will be high beams but half dimmed, so basically driving like this you cant see the road, you blinding drivers ahead and on the opposite side and nobody can see you from behind. Also there is a ticket for driving like this most states is between 60-100$ and ontario was 80$ last time i checked. regural lights, ie low beam is pointing on the road instead of other drivers so you can see the road and people can see you. Last thing if on a very dark road you driving with daytime lights only and you get rear ended by someone with a dashcam then by most insurrance companies you will be found at fault not 50% but 100%, so make sure to drive with low beam at night, not daytime running lights

Same here. I’ve been driving for 32 years, but I just got a new car. I never even knew that there was such a thing as daytime running lights! My old car didn’t have that. I’ve had to drive at night and I could barely see the road! I could only see when I turned the switch to regular lights, but I thought those were the high beams. I’m sure a lot of people make this mistake, because the symbols look alike for high beams and regular. And I did read my manual, but I still couldn’t figure it out. Glad I found this video!
I've been driving for over 10 years and still learn new things from these videos. Thank you!!!

I send these videos to my friend who is learning how to drive. :)
Slight correction about the high beams. As a standard practice, pushing and pulling on the turn signal lever will both light the high beams. However, pulling the lever toward you will activate them only momentarily, for when you may need to check some information and then deactivate them to avoid creating a nuisance or because you simply no longer need them because you've identified whatever it was you needed to cast light on. Pushing the lever forward will turn the lights on by toggling them, and they will remain on until you manually pull the lever back to the neutral position.

Did it slip through!????? He says depends on the car! My focus mk1 activates high beams when PULLING the lever fully,

Thank you!!!! I didn’t know the difference between the night lights and the fog lights they both look like they have the same light strength and this clarifies a lot!
This dude is super cool. Love the work. Total helps you the best teacher thanks
New driver, i got my license the day a blizzard happened and was panicking because I thought the normal lights were the headlights and the car did it itself, I rotated the knob because I couldn't see and behold, I could see much better. I believe I had my high beems on (it was snow/rain mixed and at night), but there are 3 levels, 2 of which don't feel like anything happens when I rotate the knob. Then high beams after pushing the lever.
You're the best teacher! Thank you so much!

All of my lessons and my test were all in the morning or, at most, in the late afternoon when there was still plenty of light. I never really got a chance to practice driving at night with an instructor. Considering here where I live most schools finish their last lesson by 7, I imagine thats the case for the majority of learners.
Very helpful video. Will be driving at night for the first time on the road next week.Really needed to watch this video first before hitting the road at night 😴

I always thought it was weird how people put lights on when it is raining. I used to think "i can still see everything easy so wtf" but then i passed my test and notice when it is raining it is a lot harder to tell whether a car is parked up or moving slow.
