Driving a YJ in snow and Ice. I broke my Posi-Lok CAD cable!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taking my Jeep Wrangler YJ up on the farm to play in the snow. I give you play-by-play commentary on how the Jeep is handling the slick snow and ice-covered roads. The Posi-Lok cable broke so I didn't get to climb any hills.... bummer!

Great run through! I'm rebuilding my 88 with an 8.8 with a spartan, a rebuilt D30 with a spartan and a TJ passenger axle, and a SOA lift. It's almost done and this video gives me a great preview on what to watch for when I start driving it again. Your videos have helped me LOTS during this rebuild! Thanks!

Thanks, glad you liked the video. Glad the videos have helped you so much and you ar very welcome!! I wanted to make a few more videos that the Posi-lok would have been handy for. But I'm not going to spend the money for another one when I got the parts to do the 1pc axle swap. I'm going to SOA Rust Bucket on a 14-bolt rear and an 8-lug Chevy Dana 44 front. It's getting an NP231J/Dana 300 doubler as well. You picked a great diff with the 8.8 and the D30 is actually a solid front diff for medium to light duty trails. Good luck on your build, sound like you are off to a good start. Thanks for leaving an awesome comment!!

They are cool for the most part. I'd recommend just going straight to the 1pc axle and do away with the whole CAD set up. Just one less thing to go wrong. Thanks for dropping in!!

Man that cable should not of broke wtf, im installing the cabe from 4x4 posi i hope i don't have the same issue i really like how the front axle disengages i can turn on a dime, can you see what caused the cable to brake did it fray or rust, i was thinking of lubricating the cable before i install it, thanks for the yj video's.

I have no idea. It has worked great for a while ... then pop!! Definitely lube it be for you install. I like having the cable so it gave me the option of engage or not. I didn't have to put up with that locker popping while driving on the street either when it was disengaged. I'm not going to buy another when I already have the parts to do the 1pc axle swap. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for being part of the Power Addicts crew!!

Visually look for cracks and get a bore scope to look inside the frame. Here is a link to some: amzn.to/3vTAjdd

Keep the YJ Videos coming as always. Also I've sent you a message on Instagram and FB. I'm in Murfreesboro and am doing fiberglass repair on my CJ7 hard top. Would like to connect to get it on your channel to help others with their projects.

I've been to the Boro a time or two but it's been a while so I'm sure it has changed. I have 2 hard tops that I'm going to be doing a repair series on this coming summer. One top is busted up bad with a missing B-pillar and broken off C-Pillar!! I'll also be shortening that one to fit my 93 YJ "Rust bucket" to look like a little pick-up truck. I've got over 30 years in fiberglass repair, custom design, and custom mold making so It's going to be a fun series for me to shoot. I'll probably be creating a full-blown fiberglass "How-to" paid course as well. In that course, I'll be making custom speaker boxes (even a subwoofer box built into the rear seat), an amp rack, a console, and much more. With that being said, I sincerely do appreciate your offer with the video. I've got fiberglass projects covered. And again .. thank you very much for the offer. If you have really good fiberglass skills you should start your own channel. From what little research I've done on fiberglass as a content creation topic, there is a need to be filled.

@@Poweraddicts Thanks for the reply. I worked at Triton boats when it was in business, learned there. I made a mold of the hardtop lift gate because mine was rusted beyond repair. Made a whole new lift gate from the molds (just completed actually). Not interested in starting my own channel really. Hope to see you on the trail

@@HWYTraveler Then you know the skills!!! Sweet!! I used to work at Harbor Master, and Gibson houseboats when they were in business. At Gibson, I was in the R&D department (mold design) for a good while. I've created taxidermy molds for fish and deer head mounts. Custom Corvette body parts, Jet ski, bass boat, houseboat repair ... etc ... etc. Fiberglass is pretty much all my dad has ever done so I picked up a lot of skills working with him as well. I should be on some trails this summer, hope to see ya there!

Do you have any videos to tell if your body mounts or your coils have to be because I have a problem where I go over a bump and a whole back end wobbles and if I slowed it down it will stop

If I remember correctly you have a TJ. Check the rear trackbar, sounds like it is worn out.
