Nice, another journey that takes in some landscapes I was very familiar with in years gone by. I spent much of my early childhood in Drouin and Warragul, my earliest memories were formed there. And I spent my teenage years in Mirboo North, a bit south of where this line goes, but in very much the same sort of Gippsland landscape. Thanks for this!

@@driver667 Yes! The rail line closed many, many years before I lived there, but I lived very near the trail it became and often walked along it. My mother, who was actually born in Mirboo North in the 30s and had family in the area going back to the first days of the township, would have rembered the railway very well.

How refreshing it is to see a railway that is so creative as to build overhead power structures that aren't a blot on the landscape. A lot different from Brisbane's suburban lines that give me a feeling of going through a barred cage. And some of your stations are quite elegant in design, unlike certain eyesores up here. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable ride.

Man, the new bridge into Stratford, major far cry from the train slowing to an absolute crawl and hearing the wooden spans of the old bridge creak and protest under the train's weight. Also Rosedale station isn't as nice as it used to be, I wonder what happened to all the potted plants and garden stuff, made for a really pretty station.

The new bridge is great 👍 I think people used to live in the station at Rosedale but they have moved on. That could be a reason it looks unloved now. 🤔😀👍

Thanks for a great trip. Amazing the number of discontinued stations. Also a lack of sidings in the event of breakdowns. But I suppose only one train a day? Or less?

3 return trains each day past Traralgon. It would be nice to see a few more sidings survive but we have what we have. 👍😀

I take the Vlocity regularly into and out of Melbourne on the Tralargon line but I have to say they're not for the long-distance route to Bairnsdale like the N-sets were, they need a buffet and more comfortable seats lol.

Happy to hear you enjoy the videos. Keep an eye on the websites of the companies, for example Vline and Metro. They advertise for applications for drivers every so often. There are a number of online tests then in person tests. Once successful the training is all supplied by the company. Good luck 👍 😀

By late 2025, it is planned that trains on the Pakenham line will be through-routed with those on the Sunbury line, via the new Metro Tunnel.

The vlocity units are not capable of running automatically on CBTC. The system basically switches back to standard signalling for the passage of vlocity and freight trains. 👍😀

They had been working on the tracks along there. They may have almost finished when I went through. 👍😀

I didn't intend watching that in one sitting. But once started, it was too difficult to stop. Mind you, 2x speed did help. 😁

Top speed along that section is 160kph. You might end up with flashing lights in your mirror if you try keep up with them at top speed along there. 🤣🤣👍😀

Driver only signalling Bairnsdale. Is it staff and ticket or train orders? Many 3.00 am very quiet mornings, sh1t hole, sleeping in the signallers ute waiting up at the log siding before the signals were automated for the log train to arrive .
