beater's day ranks highest because you can't buy it with money... but instead to get access you need commitment and friendship over a season of work!
Every time I watch one of these videos, I think "this is so...British!" Hello from the USA

Beautiful film. To me that just a perfect type of shooting day 👏
shooting is joy and anger at the same time. we all hate a bad day
Johnny if that's beaters day, how many day's did u go beating?
Beaters day is an incredibly enjoyable day out with good friends 👍 Excellent video TGS 👏

A good walk with friends, plenty of laughter and no mention of bag sizes. Just perfect!
Fantastic. What a film. You couldn't find α better way to show a proper way to a great hunt! Unforgettable!❤❤❤
A great film highlighting those who might go unappreciated, but you cant just post a film with this soundtrack and not give us the track list. That smooth jazz was perfect.
I could watch this all day long‼️ Love your videos!!
Always love watching Beaters Day shooters. Beautiful landscape and looks like a ton of fun. Can’t wait for the next one.
Fantastic job on this !! Can’t wait to see more of these driven days !
What a belter! Thanks for posting 👍
Brilliant 🤩 Love the Beaters Day film 👏
I’ve missed these proper shoots, good to see them coming back
beaters day makes the season loved this. thanks Mr carter.
YES! So happy to see this, the last beaters day video at Downland there seemed to be some doubt about what was going on. It's our first day tomorrow, got that Christmas Eve feeling, off to bed early!
A really enjoyable video to watch.
Some of my favorite videos you make!
Beaters day is rather melancholy, in that it's indicating the impending end of the season, it looks to be a day fill with fellowship. Looking forward to seeing you guys later in the week.
Love the annual beaters day video!
Now that be a fun time!!! Now that be a big meal to fix!!!
Cracking film again TGS and JC . Amazingly well put together in a such down to earth manor.
Fantastic day !! Great fun and banter!!!😂👊
Nice to see Ant having some fun
Thank you for another adventure. Just got home from hunting ruffed grouse here in the States. Enjoyed sitting and watching you doing what you love. Now heading out to chase chukars through Hells Canyon.
Brilliant stuff some great shots there fantastic video
Great work guys
Real quality film by TGS Spielberg . 👍
beautiful video!
That's good shooting; well done
Excellent videography - very high quality adds immensely to it
Another great video mate I really enjoy beaters day and well done to Ant a proper job well-done! Ive booked a few walked up days myself this season it's most enjoyable and more affordable than a driven day .
I remember the first time we shot game with Ant at Carlton towers was quite simply incredible to see kill after kill on his own peg or wiping eyes 2 pegs down!
Another Great Video 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Great film! Such a picturesque setting that I hadn't heard of, so googled it and it's 5 miles from me.... I need to get out more!!!
Video was shot really well guys.
Great film thanks
It would seem good fellowship brightens up an otherwise overcast day.
Great video Mr. Carter. Excellent shooting too. Keep up the great work. You definately prefer your Longthorne game gun for most of your driven shooting.
It was good to see the lake at Downlands again. Many years ago a country sports open day was regularly held on the estate and as part of the substantial wildfowlers contribution to the day I gave a demonstration of punt gunning. So there I am sitting in my punt with a loaded gun on the foredeck talking to the then landowner. At the end of the lake was a bunch of fifty mallard. I jokingly said to him "Nice punt gun shot there." He replied that he`d never seen a large punt gun fired in anger so "Go on then, shoot `em". Now did I take the shot, or did`nt I?

@@tgsoutdoors truth to tell, it would have been a very heavy shot of some very un worldly - wise ducks. In addition, there was the problem of what to do with them on a hot and sunny early September day with two demos booked, one late afternoon, they'd have turned green before the day was out. So I sculled the punt into range, lined 'em all up, and shouted 'Bang!" I ve never had so many mallard in front of the gun, since. Perhaps I should have pulled the trigger lanyard!
Another great film! Beaters day is one of the more interesting (to me) ways to hunt. It does give a great reward to all that participate during the season. I know walked up shooting is a traditional way to hunt in the UK but I think hunting with us in the US is rubbing off on you! Glad to see it and I'm looking forward to seeing you back in the states hunting our many species. Finally, stop playing with Ant's foreskin! OOPS... darn spell check! 😂
Very nice video❤❤❤ I love it
Magnificent!😊 Real stuff! I would relly like to experience once a driven game shoot..but.. walked up.. hunting.. is certainly more personal.. at least that is what I think nowl! Specially in the areas where.. there are only a wild birgs!
pick my new eye's up tomorrow from Edd can't wait and also joined a small syndicate I've been a beater on I'm at that age were you realise you can't take it with you so going to be a busy season beating and shooting cannot wait😁
After I got done laughing at it being called beaters' day... I really enjoyed this video, like really. Wish you'd do a video about game keeping. Wildlife management is so different here in Kentucky. Was nice to hear you actually say something nice about your friend. What really struck me was though how impressed you were with his shots. I've kind of noticed that sometimes you act like some shots are very difficult that I think are easy, and act like some shots are easy that I would struggle with. I'm assuming this is just a combination of how we learned, who we are as individuals, and the things we shoot traditionally? Because some of those high and far away ducks, I won't say it was instinctive. Because it's not instinctive. But I guess it's trained in. I think it would have been easy for me. Muscle memory. Also, I'd like the shot of the dogs, I really like dogs. Overall, I really like this video. And frankly I kind of didn't expect to. I don't know why, It's just didn't strike me as something I'd like. But I really did. I really really did. I wish you would take us to more of this, and just kind of explain what's going on while it's happening. Like what the procedures and etiquette are.
I’m from the southern US and neck ties in tractors just doesn’t seem right. Great video.
Nice
Ah, the legend that is Spike! Good to see it's only my dog Biscuit is constantly sh@gging 😂😂😂
I fully appreciate the sentiment about moving away from driven shooting. I still thoroughly enjoy driven shooting but shooting over your own dogs, be they spaniels or pointers cannot be beaten. It also keeps you connected to shooting throughout the summer as you keep training your dog(s). There are many beat 1 drive, stand 1 drive shoots that give you the best of both worlds and they aren't that expensive, either.
Hi Jonny. Great video as always. What cartridges were you shooting?
Go and make a 410 challenge on that place!❤
A quick question on the hydrowads. What speed are they. For ducks in North America we shoot #2' to #4's at 1350 to 1675 (if you can take the beating) 34 gram.
What ear defenders do you use and would recommend them ? Thanks
What were the noir jazz tunes? They sound like something out of L.A. Noire. Good to see Ant in his element, I'm not a fan of hunting but its good to see the technical aspects of how the day went, good video.
The colour grading on this is pretty much perfection… what is the secret 🤫
What constriction choke did you use?
About to do a beaters day my first and last and covid hit. Couldn't do it. Was gutted
After watching these videos over the last couple of months, I would like to get into helping on shoots, what ever that may be. Beating, picking. Does anyone have some information on how to even start.
The gear that you all are wearing is 🔥, you all look great! what boots are you wearing mate?
are those yellow safety glasses? and if so where can i them for myself?
wait! Did I see some Canada geese @ min 1:11 ?! Do you have a season in UK for those?! Branta Canadensis seems to be present everywhere! All to way to New Zealand and Northern Europe!

That wasn't the Longthorn, what was it? Grat video as usual, when are you coming back to the states? You should try Arizona for quail if you do.

That is definitely one of the Longthornes Johnny has had made for himself. However, it appears Longthorne no longer sponsor TGS.
I have great idea for next trip to US. So feral hog hunting or any invasive species like Burmese Pythons in Florida.
Johnny; I would like to see you shooing side x sides with top American shooters. I am unaware of what you are addressing when speaking of your sight.
Amazing !!!! how can one participate in these hunts, any indication????
I thought pheasant season runs from October to February, and beater's day was at end of season. Am I wrong? Or is this a old video

What shotgun are you shooting?
possibly a stupid question but, was this filmed this year or last year? I don't think it's cold enough yet in the UK to have frozen ponds and to see everyone's breathe.

Would have been back end of January 2023 as Beaters day is normally the last one of the season.
You would enjoy North Dakota right now. Sharptail grouse in abundance. Your new s x s .410 would be perfect. But you need a dog.
Che caccia particolare però molto piacevole da vedere , che fucile è quello del video ?
Have they stopped the game shooting entirely o the estate now ?
Thousands to take home 2/3 pheasants 😂
another brilliant film, my beating season starts in 2 days and this has just got me RIGHT in the mood for it 😁
What’s on ya barrel?
Does anyone know what gun he uses?
What breed is that little black dog?
What gun is that? thanks
Its a shame that driven game is 99% of all shooting in the UK - shoot grouse behind a proper english setter or pointer up in the highlands and driven game will fade away - not to mention Lapland or Alps or the mountains in Greece

They are subjects so its dictatwd to them & they are charged for it😒🎰
I love the channel and the films, Jonny, but how British do you have to be to still be able to say “people from different classes”.
Man alive, if your going to hunt birds… that a civilized way to do it.
Where has this habit of resting your gun barrels on your boot come from .Surely boots get mud on them .could be ok on a clay ground but asking for trouble in the field
Not sure that 'blooding' someone for their first pheasant shot, is a good idea. It just gives even more ammunition to the anti's who cannot abide game shooting, or any other country sport. They should just stay in Islington!

it's tradition in literally every single community which hunts, it's an honor to the kill

In addition, as you spell 'honour' in the American way, and refer to 'hunts' which is not the usual description of Game shooting in the UK, I am assuming you are not resident in the UK. Blooding after killing a fox has let to an enormous amount of adverse publicity and opposition to Field Sports of any sort in the UK, and it is not wise to follow this example after shooting a first pheasant, especially when being exposed on KZread.
@christopherhindle1174

I fully support your rights to your beliefs and traditions, I just don't think it is a good idea to give publicity on a public forum to practices which non-shooting people would find bizarre and revolting. @@BrokenBarBox
