Driven Fox Hunt with Chiappa Triple Crown 20G, Ghost Blind and Beagles Victoria 09/10/2022

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This time I was using my Ghost Blind which has a mirror finish thick corflute which allowed me to cutooff two possible routes for the foxes while sitting in the middle of the paddock with no cover. The Ghost Blind made me completely hidden and the foxes ran by unaware. I was able to shoot a dog fox and a vixen. Walking back after the car a fox sneaked in front of me and I scared it back into the patch.

It was like the cloak of invisibility. Not sure why the shotkam was off on the second fox because that was a good shot.

Great footage and great shooting Charles. Out of interest is anyone using straight pull or lever release shotguns?

Yes, one guy was using the Verney Carron Veloce and another guys were the Dickinson T1000. One guy was using the Pardus Lever action. All of them have stopped using them due to reliability issues, slow second shot, lack of choke selection and poor handling. They have gone back to their o/u. I on the other hand have continued with the triple as it has all the advantages of a o/u with a third shot. Maybe it would be nice with ejectors but it would put the cost of the shottie through the roof.

Good shooting, how far away from the woodline were you?

Probably about 35-40m. I was using cylinder choke and improved cylinder so it was two decent shots. That first fox stopped as I was swinging through and I couldn't believe I missed but second shot dropped it dead.

The last shot must have been at least 150m, the fox has already turned and running before the pellets hit the ground about 30m in front. Unfortunately, the other hunters didn't shoot it.

@@Haldenhoundfoxterrier Yes every year, some stop at woodline and then run across at the fence and go around because they can see me more than 100m away. This time I was close enough to shoot both positions because of the ghost blind.
