About Keep The Ban
Keep The Ban is a non-profit organisation campaigning to end wildlife persecution. Founded in 2015 the group seeks to educate the public about the realities of what really goes on in the British countryside. Keep The Ban is currently calling on major landowners and decision makers to end the licencing of so-called ‘trail hunts’, and released footage this year showing the Duke of Beaufort Hunt shooting dead their hounds (the first time this routine practice had ever been captured on film).
The mission of Keep The Ban is simple - to end fox hunting, to expose those who abuse and persecute wildlife, and to ensure a compassionate future for wildlife.

Basically, hunting is the only method that selectively culls weaker foxes but lets the fittest animals escape. This is called "survival of the fittest"* and no other method of control I'm aware of does this. All other methods cull perfectly healthy, breeding age animals indiscriminately without giving them a chance to escape. This can be detrimental to the population. Source:- Charles Darwin. ;-)

As a country boy, I have always been ashamed of those who see the countryside as their personal playground, and their thinking that the wildlife’s sole purpose in being is for their amusement. Coming from poor country folk I have always understood the hunt and shoot for the pot idea, and even now as a vegetarian I feel that’s still part of the country way, but I have never understood the mentality of those who sport shoot and hunt, just for the pleasure of seeing another living creature die. These people are bullies and have no part in real country life, for we all know that to “derive pleasure from the suffering of others, is to be less than human,” fortunately the tide is turning and as more and more people come to understand the value of our wildlife, they will not allow these barbaric medieval practices to continue.

singing petitions is a waste of time. To make a change, people need to *vote*. If they vote for the wealthy elite to stay in power, despite those same people wanting to repeal the ban, despite them being protected by the police and never punished for breaking the law because they are simply too rich and powerful, then *nothing* will change. England needs to become a republic and the wealthy elite need to be forced to obey the same laws as the rest of us. There actually is a fine alternative to trial hunting. It's called hubertus, no dogs, only fake fox tail, horses and a bunch of riders. One person have fox tail attached to its saddle and others are chasing him. It's traditional, fun and with no harm to animals.

Thank you for Ben Sinclair in writing this important message for all to hear, and for the wonderful narration from Chris Packham. It's a shame when laws to protect wildlife are bought in by UK parliament that there are always loopholes that the hunting fraternity ( I mean all of them) get away with. Money talks and sadly bends the rules, as well as well-to-doers, and landowners, think they have the right to inflict distress, fear and pain on defenceless badgers, foxes, hunting birds and other wildlife birds, because they can. We (wildlife defenders) will get our revenge and stop this bureaucracy to end animal cruelty.

I don’t know why they have to make it so cruel for the animal-… I hunt and I try to make it quick and painless as possible for the animal. That is just flat out cruelty right there. ALSO I hate that they will just dig the foxes up. ITS FAIR GAME IF THEY GET AWAY. I think it would be good if they put a law on that if they already haven’t.

Very well made film. There is no public appetite for cruelty to animals in the UK hence the legislation which is being studiously ignored by hunters. The penalties need to be increased to include custodial sentences, the police and magistrates need to enforce the legislation, and importantly trail hunting needs to be banned.

What you must understand about those practices is that in ancient times, when societies were agrarian, the rich people showed their riches to their neightbors/subjects with the food. They offered banquets, hunted wild animals (usually big ones, but there could be also pests for the farmers like rabbits, or foxes since they were seen as elegant animals), etc. All as a way to gain prestige on their comunities. As society progressed into industrialization, riches weren’t so directly linked with food, and the upper echalons of society looked to find some ways to entretain themselves. They adapted some practices of the old agrarian societies like hunting.
