Drinker's Chasers - Star Wars Is Failing Because Of YOU!

Ойын-сауық

You might have thought Disney Star Wars is in trouble because of terrible writing, poor acting and the relentless insertion of The Message into everything they do, but you'd be wrong. According to Collider, the real problem is YOU - the fans.

TLJ was designed to antagonize fans. The story came second, or not at all. How else do you explain the "You're nobody you have no place in this story" and "Tastes like salt" scenes? These have nothing to do with the in-universe narrative. They are there as ready made memes for consumer addicts to spam online. Forgot to mention Fisher’s own & CORRECT point about slave Leah: she was supposed to present like a sex slave because JABBA IS THE BAD GUY! Jabba made her do that, not Lucas or the fandom. That’s the whole point. The point the woke are making is that it’s bad… AND THAT’S THE POINT LUCAS WAS MAKING. These people are so shallow in basic human reasoning. How can they understand, let alone TELL, any story if the bad guy isn’t allowed to do bad things?! How do these people propose to run ANYTHING if they can’t accept that there are BAD things in the world?! Our civilizational institutions have been seized by sheltered children!

I agree, but may I add I don't understand why they get so worked up over a woman being sexy in a movie in the first place, what's the big deal? Are you so offended that a woman showed off her body? I see hundreds of girls wearing half of Leia's bikini every time I go to the beach...but of course it's empowering when they do it, but god forbid Carrie Fischer does the exact same thing? And showing chiseled men who have bodies that the average man could never attain in their wildest dreams is perfectly fine? It doesn't bother me either way, but they're so hypocritical about it. What exactly is wrong with a woman in a bikini? It's the exact same thing as a shirtless dude, and some audiences just prefer one over the other, big deal... People like sexy things, almost like sex is a big part of our lives or something. This is just a hate group at this point, and they hate men. That's it...

They didn't reason themselves into their position, they adopted it wholesale from critical theory which tells them everything ever is always bad and they just have to figure out why. It used to work. Over the past 10 years we saw a wave of emotional blackmail and gaslighting like this; it actually managed to brainwash a significant portion of society. It was a very effective strategy until everything started doing it. Now people are so inundated by emotional blackmail and gaslighting, because they're constantly bombarded with it from all angles. They've become so inundated by it that they've become desensitized to it, and now, slowly but surely, more and more people are realizing that they've been manipulated, and they're starting to reject that manipulation. So, long story short; it was an extremely effective strategy. Between 2014 and 2022. By 2022, the strategy became so exceedingly overused that it lost its effectiveness. I, for one, am kinda glad they took it too far. I remember back in 2019, wondering how far the world would go down this rabbit hole of madness. I was terrified of the cultural implications of allowing emotional blackmail and gaslighting to form our public consciousness. But then they pushed the envelope too far and it backfired, and I let out a huge sigh of relief

It always cracks me up that these people are shallow enough to only be able to identify with someone who looks like them. I think that's why they always make such bland characters, because the strongest point of their personality is literally their appearance. Sure, Darth Vader looks cool, but literally nobody looks like him because he's wearing a suit and his appearance is hidden. Yet did I run around thinking I was Darth Vader as a kid? Absolutely yes! And I loved it! My favorite characters were R2D2, Darth Vader, The Emperor, Darth Maul, and Yoda, and I do not have a single ounce of resemblance to any of them, neither in appearance nor personality...and that is because I'm not so shallow and narcissistic to have to see a reflection of myself in a movie. Make your characters whatever race/gender you want, but please, for the love of god, make them INTERESTING and COOL god damn it! To this day it's still fun to try and mimic Darth Vader's voice, or Yoda's, or the Emperor's, and get nowhere close but still have fun doing it; or to pretend I'm a Jedi using the force when I walk up to an automatic sliding door.

I love how 'society' has decided that Hollywood is the one single industry on the planet where blaming the customer is considered a good marketing move. When a car company tries some new feature and nobody likes it, it won't be on next year's model. When Taco Bell or McDonalds try some new item and it doesn't sell well, it gets discontinued. That's the way the market has always worked. But Hollywood thinks that instead of changing or improving the product, they can just... shame their customers into guilt-buying? Has that worked ever? Like, literally EVER? Just imagine Burger King paying people from random youtubers to well known food critics up to like Gordon Ramsay, to come out and demand people buy their Big Mac knockoff Big King or whatever it was called. "Why do you hate BK workers? There is no way you simply don't want our knockoff and would rather just go buy an actual Big Mac at McDonalds! Are you classist against poor little fast food workers? Buy the burger bigot!" I wonder why none of them have ever tried that as a marketing strategy... According to Hollywood, it should work.

The princess Leia''s bikini scene and outfit is so iconic, that even now many girls and women wear this to comic cons and other conventions. If it was so bad, why is it still seen as so iconic and why do girls still wear it? It also featured in popular culture a lot. The outfit even made sense in the setting, eyecandy or not. There's nothing in Disney Star Wars that will even reach this heigh of cultural impact. And this is just one outfit/scene, we're not even talking about the whole subculture that the old movies created. Disney will never be able to recreate this, unless perhaps people that created Andor or likeminded people get free reign over the whole SW property. Perhaps even people like Mike Flannagan or Denis Villeneuve. And yeah even then there will probably be some DEI, but atleast then the story will be front and center.

It's hard to even add to the conversation, because Disney just keeps repeating the SAME talking points time and time again. Instead of listening to criticisms and maybe even offering an apology, they just double down even harder. It's hilarious how many companies and Ip are doing fantastic listening to the fans instead of endlessly insulting them. My god how many more Billions must Disney lose before something changes?

Two points: Point 1, my son is 12, when he was 10, the age I saw 'A New Hope', we saw episodes 4-6 and he loved them. next we saw 1-3 and he was blown away. But, when he saw 7-9 he was not so thrilled and he was pissed off that, 'They made Luke look like an idiot.' He loved 'A New Hope'. He stopped watching 'Ahsoka' and just couldn't be bothered with 'The Acolyte' because, and I quote, 'Star Wars is boring now, it's become a girly show and the guys are all dumb.'

I still can’t get over the fact that people/media constantly acknowledge the fact that Star Wars has a large predominantly male fanbase and instead of simply acknowledging that they just say oh that’s a huge problem. It’s like is it though?! It’s where we are with the discourse where everyone sees the same thing, but somehow we describe the situation completely differently in basically the opposite way. It’s far easier to get other fans, but keep your male fans then to try to drive your male fans away by catering to a microscopic other fandom. This is why everything fails because people assume this phantom, “modern audience” actually exists which it never did and never will.

The thing about Slave Leia is that it makes sense. It is believable that Jabba, who is a gangster, would put someone he captured in a skimpy outfit; partly to demoralize them and remind them that he owns them now. It is a head of a crime family thing to do. Where as the trash disney has made is just pandering to the smallest audience ever.

I think this whole thing is a demonstration of power. They knew there would be massive backlash from fans and they did it regardless to prove a point. They also comfortably hide behind the few people that hate the show for the wrong reasons. To be honest fans should just walk away from Disney until they feel the financial consequences of their doing.

I've said it before. Outside the feature films, Star Wars is another sci-fi/fantasy franchise. That's a niche audience. Those are the people who bought books, comics, and watched the cartoons. There is no one to replace it with because most people aren't interested in the subject matter beyond an occasional feature film. The "diverse" people interested in Star Wars WERE ALREADY STAR WARS FANS!!!

Star Wars is a steak house. George loved his steak house, serving only the best prime+ steaks and top shelf bourbon. He hired the best chefs and wait staff. And we’ve all grown up LOVING the steak we eat when we go there. Then Disney bought the steak house. They immediately fired all the employees, changed the decor and got rid of all the bourbon. They stopped serving steak, and now the only thing on the menu is grilled tofu and white claw. So we stop dining with them. “But our tofu is really good. You idiots should eat it!!!” That’s what they have “accomplished” with their style of content.
