Drilling holes in glass bottles, mason jars, wine bottles, flower vases and coffee mugs is way easier than you think! These cheap glass cutting bits makes it super easy and quick to do. Drilling glass can take forever if you have the wrong bit and the glass can shatter if you use too much pressure. If you're making a lamp, this method makes cutting holes in your glass bottle a breeze. You can cut holes in glass in less than 60 seconds with these bits.
When cutting glass, be sure to wear safety glasses and gloves.
These bits will NOT cut tempered glass.
Use a cordless drill if possible.
Electric drills are fine using caution.

You can also fill the hole saw with ice, it’s less messy. Put a piece of sticky tape on the back side of what you’re drilling and you will get less fraying around the edge of the hole on the back side.
Before drilling the hole, cover the area with masking tape. This helps prevent chipping and should the glass break, it sticks to the tape rather than flying everywhere. This tip curtesy of Mister Natural.

One of the best videos ever. No garbage throughout. Point, blank, period. This is how you do it. Awesome,,, KEEP UP THE GREAT SAME VIDEOS. Thank you so much!!!
LOL about the coffee mug. Great practical joke for a friend 😛.
Instead of making several jigs, one for each size hole/bit you can simply stick a piece of masking tape over the area you want the hole. Then place the diamond-coated drill bit/hole cutter on a slight angle and begin drilling until you've created a slight half-moon groove in the glass. Then gradually level your angle until you're straight up an down and then continue till you're through. The tape assists in keeping the bit from skipping all over the glass and is less involved than building a jig...really handy when you can't or don't have the time/space to build and store multiple jigs. Anyhew, just a little trick I learned along my way. 😊😉 Thanks for posting your video...I wasn't sure if I could use the same bits for ceramic tile, now I know. I'm glad you get to the point and cut out or speed up the down time. Thanks for sharing the link for the bits, I'm bout to purchase some. The time & nuggets of knowledge you put into your editing is appreciated.

lol, thats kinda something i'd like to see. and old lady with neat little holes drilled into each lens, and grandma is none the wiser, but notes her vision seems blurry but only when she looks straight ahead.

Neat! I used a similar method and a slightly more expensive bit to drill holes in granite counter-tops for faucet installation back when that was my nine to five. I like the soda bottle trick. We used to just stop and dribble more water in every five seconds or so.
Some great advice. Just successfully cut a bottle. Thanks for the video.
Don't rock the bit. Causes chips and possible cracking of the glass.

And where's your video on cutting into glass, didn't seem to mess up his glass

@@smoothlyrough512 Yes it did. He mentions it in the video. TheNYgolfer is right. Just go slow and with as little movement as possible to get the cleanest cut.

Thanks for the demo...I've considered buying these bits for different reasons and you sir, have sold me...Oh, excellent video.
The best things are the simplest. Good work.
I liked the invention of the water jet from the bottle .. good idea. thanks for the links

Yeah that's definitely worth remembering.
For cleaner cut, put a masking tape on the spot before starting to drill.

@@ulysses_grant you're right sometimes I read the comments and think about how advanced we haven't become.
Excellent video, straight to the point. So many drag the story out so much you lose the will to live!
TOO KEWL, Chris!!! You looked like you were having too much fun! The tip about the water in a bottle was awesome. I'm gonna try your method...can't wait!!!
I skipped the video and did it with the pickle but it sure took a long time- I’m still working on it
If you put a few drops of dish washing soap in the water bottle and use less presser, your diamond will last longer and cut cleaner. Nice video!

I bought an arrow head shaped glass bit years ago and the instructions said to use methylated spirits as a coolant.
LOVE the pop bottle with the hole cooler👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
oh my gosh this has been so helpful. I have used the bits on ceramic pots but not glass. Thank you!
Thanks for just the facts and no music. Loved the trickle down water applicator.
My grandfather would *_love_* this channel
