Izzy isn't number one, but he's still a high-ranking contender with 5 successful title defenses. Sean has 0 successful title defenses. There are certain privileges you get as a long reigning champion. I want Sean to get his rematch too, and I find Israel Adesanya to be one of the most insufferable personalities in combat sports. But honestly this is fair. Saying Izzy doesn't deserve a title shot is like saying Volkanovski doesn't deserve a rematch with Topuria. Plus the beef between DDP and Izzy adds a little heat to the bout, which I like. Sean will definitely fight DDP again. He just might have to wait.
