Before I decluttered my jewelry, I decluttered my wardrobe. Then I matched them up. I actually stored the jewelry with the outfits - hung the necklaces around the hanger, put the earrings in the pocket or a baggie. So the only thing I have in my jewelry box is the extra universal type items that I didn't want to part with 'just in case'. Thank you for the motivation!

I love that idea. I started doing that for my mom before she died and we went to Dollar Tree and got the little organza drawstring bags in their baby shower section to put her jewelry in since it hangs on the hanger very well and we used the round key rings with the labels to label what each hanger was supposed to have on it. So when she took off the jewelry, she could still put it back on hanger even though the clothes had to be washed - then we'd hang her clean clothes on the hanger intended. Eventually we had to take pictures of the outfits to put on the hangers as she was not able to read the small writing but that's where lanyard's come in really handy - hold the pics on the hangers. Thank you so much for sharing your idea.

Last year, as a self-care project, I went through my extensive collection of earrings, fixed the broken ones, found all the pairs, texted pics of the ones I didn't want to my daughters and mailed them the ones they liked. The rest are in my jewelry cabinet, color-coded! My little Bee heart is so happy with this.

About two years ago I decluttered our bedroom big time. It has become a peaceful and restful space instead of a room where everything got shoved. It was filled with so much random clutter. My flat surfaces were piled up and there were multiple boxes of random things. I definitely had “goat paths.” Surfaces are now clear other than a framed picture or small trinket box. I am blessed to have a large enough room, that with some strategic positioning of the furniture, I now also have a clear and private workout space away from everyone else including four dogs who liked to come visit me while I was trying to do push-ups or crunches on my mat in the living room. So grateful for all of the inspiration that got me started and keeps me going!

Suggestions for the Disney items- use a lanyard for your keys, so handy to be hands free! Then put all the pins on a favorite backpack, fanny pack, or hat. It will be a nice conversation starter and contained in one place.

this decluttering challenge is coming close to completion, day 19, and what I notice is by doing some physical decluttering I also notice a mental decluttering, getting a sense of where to focus on in my life and what my next steps will be of things that I want to do. Before starting I felt a bit confused about where to focus my energy what to do, what not to do and also not knowing where to start etc. That feeling of overwhelm but today I got new inspiration, like one thing I want to do soon is a workshop on horse coaching and trauma, and also next week on Friday I start a new training on called "intuition practitioner", at the beginning of June I will be part of an art route in my village where artist open their houses or studio's for the public for one day. I am an artist and this will be my first time showing my art to the world, also two pieces will be exhibited elsewhere and that idea popped up during this challenge, I mean I knew it existed, but the process of decluttering having a moment of clarity (mental) and check it out and make a call if it is still possible to join and YES. So yes, this challenge is much more to me than just decluttering physical stuff, it also has been a mental decluttering. Thank you, Steph!!! I love how you share your things with the world.

Like some other commenters... my bedroom is minimalistic because I discovered that clutter in the bedroom was contributing to my sleep disorder. It was too much a reminder of all the things that needed to be done ... accosting my brain right before bedtime... causing anxiety and a busy mind... right when I needed to calm my mind for sleep. Now my bedroom is easily tidied , always calm, serene and peaceful... ready for a good nights sleep.

We are in the process of a room by room makeover in our home. We just finished our kitchen and we are now working on our bedroom. We currently do not have any bedside table as I sold my bedroom furniture and currently only replaced the dressers. Also, because I just got new dressers, we also just went through those. So I decided to do the dressers in our guest rooms that we use for grand children visits. Removed a box of toy/craft items and a grocery bag of clothing I know wont fit any of them this year Thanks again for the motivation. It has been fun and productive in my home Also, Amazon has really nice Bracelet holder stands. I recently purchased one for myself for the very same reason. My biggest challenge with jewelry is the inherited pieces from my Mother and Mother-in-Law. I have containers of their jewelry, mostly costume jewelry and a few pieces of real metals/stones. I got rid of the easy stuff, the pieces that I had no attachment to. But what's left I am sentimental about and haven't yet made the choice to let it go. Thanks for the inspiration today Steph to look at it one more time and see if I can let go of a few more pieces.

This too was great!! I was able to declutter so much that my dresser is empty as I chose to hang the little bit I had. I cleared out my side table too, but now it houses a few of the last dresser items. Now I’ll use my dresser in the office/guest room to put away supplies rather than having bins cluttering the closet and open bookcases. Next those bookcases will go to the utility room for better tool organization. So basically, more room in the bedroom, better hidden storage in the office/guest room, and finally a way to organize wonderfully well for our utility room!! Thank you for this. If I get that gift card, I’m off to NU. A local store. 🕊🇨🇦😊

Doing a huge declutter of my bedroom some years ago has been one of the best things I have done. I struggled with anxiety and trying to unwind and fall asleep in a room that used to always be put last on my priorities. Resting in there was quite a challenge. I wouldn't have tons of piles necessarily, but I would sometimes have things I needed to ship, etc., or stuff I had taken away from a toddler throughout the course of the day. My dresser often had clutter fill the top. Before I became more minimal, my bedroom was also the place unfolded, clean laundry would gather. It felt like I was confronted with all of my unfinished tasks right before trying to rest. It was hard to convince myself to sleep because I had done "enough." Then, I would buy tons of candles etc. in an attempt to make the room more peaceful. What finally helped was getting rid of most of the things I kept in there. I kept only my favorite candle and a diffuser, and I donated the other 13 candles that I had simehow amassed. I greatly reduced decor and other things crowding the room, and, now for nearly four years, it has been so peaceful for me. Does it get messy sometimes? Yes, but I can reset the room to the way I like it in just a few minutes. I have really been enjoying your decluttering challenge this month. Keep up the good work! So motivating!

Jewelry is SO HARD for me to declutter. Mostly because I think of them as such unique pieces that will go with “that future outfit someday.” I do use the container system concept though, so if it doesn’t fit in my current containers (which is a drawer, a hanging jewelry bag, two necklace hangers, and a standing jewelry box 😬 omg I know I know) then I do purge items to make room for the new things. I know we all have our unique struggles. Supporting our sisters out there 🌼

My dresser is clean for the first time in years!!!! It was stacked up with clothes! Clothes solution in the works!!! Was planning to move and hubs lost his job in January. Still out of work and things are tough. Flying into my mess is keeping me from going bananas. That and Breyers mint chocolate chip ice cream!

You can easily make a jewelry holder thing from stuff you already have. Tp /paper towel tubes, soda bottles, etc. whatever is a good tube shape can become a good bracelet holder!

I did this on Friday! Just a small job for me. I jumped head-first into Kon-Mari about six years ago. I own a small home and at the time it was bursting at the seams! I reduced the amount we had by about 50% and ever since I’m frequently going through and “curating” (decluttering) my belongings … I think Ive become an unintentional minimalist 😱 So, I don’t even own a dresser or a bedside table, buuuutttt I have a shelf in my wardrobe with my jewellery and if I don’t keep it constantly tidy, it quickly turns chaotic. So I did what I hadn’t for a while - emptied all belongings in the shelf and went through everything and organised it 🙌

My jewelry box definitely needs decluttering….it’s amazing what we acquire over the years. I’m going to have quite a bit of things to donate when this challenge is over. It feels good knowing it’s going out the door.

I've been watching most of these, but haven't been doing them... until now! It's funny how doing one small task snowballs into tackling multiple others! Thanks, Steph!

This is something I do before the cleaning people come. I freak out and clear all the dresser surfaces. Amazing how much they can collect.

I would put those lanyards in a ziplock bag in your memorabilia box. You can then revisit whether they mean something to you in a year or 2 when you're adding more stuff. Sometimes it's hard for me to judge initially, but with a little space I can quickly make a decision.

I was so glad when we bought a bedroom set that doesn't have tables or dressers. It's so easy to keep clean & clutter free. I'm going to be doing this in our guest room when I redo the whole room this summer. Great motivation!!

That's a great idea for bedside table....one drawer! Limits the collection of stuff and you can easily vacuum under it!!! That is now on my list of things to look for at the goodwill!!!👍🤗. Keep it up...your videos are amazingly encouraging!!! Got rid of a trash bag of shoes and clothes I just don't lovr anymore!!!

Having a smaller bedside table has definitely helped me recently! I switched to I tiny one after our last move, and it's really helped make my sleeping space feel more relaxed.

A great way to display pins like your ones from Disney is to get a small cork bulletin board. Remove the backs of the pins and push them into the cork. Now they are a fun arty display and you can look them every day! We put ours in the bathroom as decor. (Is that weird??) The lanyards themselves probably aren't as sentimental and are easily replaced if you want to wear the pins again. You don't even have to save all the backs as they are also easy to replace. Just make sure the bulletin board is out of reach of your littles one, since the pins are sharp.

They also make half cork/half white dry erase bulletin boards that you could use for your older kids' bedrooms and they can display their own pins on the cork half while using the white part for drawing. Pins make great small, cheap souvenirs for kids to collect :)

My bedside tables are always clutter magnets...usually books. Marie Kondo say every house should only have 30 books...I add on my nightstand! 🤣

My kids just did (my) laundry over the weekend so I did declutter my clothes dresser Monday before I put clothes away because Sam's had my favorite Big Girl T-shirts on sale so I had to sacrifice a few of the older ones to make room for the new. Been loving this series so far. And I so appreicate that you mix it up with super easy when you have big ones in there.

This is actually a funny one for me. I got rid of my nightstand because I wanted a chair and didn't have room for both. Needless to say, I now need to declutter my chair. Ha, ha, ha. On it, and thanks for reminding me the chair is for sitting!
