D Lewis saying "What do you want?" to the alien is my favourite screen portrayal of fear. He absolutely nailed the terror where you can barely squeak out a word. This movie was unfairly panned IMO

One of the first steven king stories I'd ever read, suggested to me by my dad. I finished it in a snowy log cabin in the middle of our woods and for some reason that made me love the story more. We watched the movie when I finished the book, and me and him both agreed that it couldn't compare. Genuinely one of my favorite memories.

@Slevin Sanchez There was no alternative or other way.The Alien organism was and is something the human race has never dealt with.Although the film didn't go much into detail about the alien,but Morgan Freemans character and his unit were military,which means they had previous contact with the Aliens or knowledge of the Aliens.

The book did imply that the aliens were a symbiotic species but the military simply wiped them out whenever they landed and in anger split into a more warlike group and ones who figured “we should move somewhere else”

I never knew that, the impression the movie always gave me was that Duddits was a refugee of a world the Ripley destroyed. But with how they portrayed the Ripley as worms and Duddits’ true form as not a worm, I never had reason to think the shape shifting was just like the psychic stuff Duddits taught the boys, not necessarily species specific maybe not teachable to humans tho. In fact I never even realized Duddits was in a human host either, always figured like the mother became inexplicably pregnant or something, and he had implanted himself as a human-alien hybrid but it was difficult or something so his body was unstable and eventually sick. And that he wasn’t disabled like a normal human but was just mentally part alien and didn’t completely understand everything yet, probably could do telekinesis and adv physics easy if he had like a Vulcan teacher so to speak, and not the 60’s/70’s Maine public education system lol. But by the time of the story, on his own he’d only been able to understand himself by the time he was sick and dying, he had meant to warn/aid Earth, but could at least save his friend Jonesy. And so the story to me had a nice thematic implication of the boys’ friendly and kind nature saving the world by reaching out to Duddits enough he could prepare at least them if not earth, and even if he didn’t understand for what yet. And in the end he did understand enough that it seems to imply he must have been psychically aware in the first place that when he became human he wouldn’t remember, and so positioned himself to be born in the town with the guys who would be right in the middle of this perhaps final invasion attempt. But it was like a worthyness, hope for humanity, moral of the story thing, it was their acceptance, friendship, and defense of someone different, meek, and vulnerable, which ultimately saved the world. Contrasted against the bad of Duddits’ bullying, and the ugliness of the general seeming to have started out as a hero but just lost it over the years from the extraordinary stress of leading a covert defense of earth that had probably been a lot more desperate in the past, making it easier to see how they formed such aggressive protocols.

Same, my only experience with it was when I was 7 or so, and I didn't understand anything. I don't normally like being scared, but for some reason, I was enjoying every second of it. My mother was horrified/proud when I told her I watched it lmao

The part where Pete helps Trish was one of my favorite parts of the whole book. It wasn't that he helped her and she wasn't into him. He did this twirl the finger in the air thing, explaining to her that it "helps him think", and proceeds to trace her every little step up to dropping her key. She takes off because there was way too much detail, convincing her he's a stalker. I thought it was pretty cool and very sad all at the same time.

Pete was a great character, his whole arc is a look at the phrase "You should've quit while you were ahead." Because really, from the woman at the dealership to him getting eaten by Bob, it's a case of him not stopping to think about the outcome of his actions.

I'd go back and watch it but honestly the movie didn't really impress me much. I think I was still pissed off about the movie for Tommyknockers or something and I didn't give it much of a chance.

Can we PLEASE comment on the portrayal of "Dudditz" by the borderline unappreciated, barely recognized Donnie Wahlberg? I didn't even know it was him for DECADES. The guy actually took a lot of time and effort into this role he had.

One of my favorite characters ever portrayed in movies. I still say "I dudditz" occasionally when I'll do something successful.

It was one of those movies that I enjoyed as a kid even though I got a little confused the first time, also made fear taking a dump for a year. I'd have to leave the restroom door cracked open a little haha

Definitely not King's best work, but also not bad considering he was high on painkillers following a near fatal car crash. I like the subtle references to It and even Mr Gray coming across a statue or something that depicted the Losers club and the words, "Pennywise lives," written on it.

That memorial was put in place where the Standpipe was located, after the cataclysmic events of IT. The Losers Club paid for it also, so they kept their memories for at least awhile after the story even if they do fade eventually.

I hope they do a reboot or at least spiritual sequel like Stranger Things. It's concept is amazing, just poor execution

When crashed UFOs come up I find myself often think back to the scene from Spaced Invaders, with the human traffic cop who picks up an alien ship cruising past: "Nobody gets away with going **three thousand miles per hour** on a fifty-five mile an hour... (pauses, checks speed gun) Damn!" Dogged and determined he later tracks the ship down, crashed in a barn, and steps out of the darkness, scaring the alien pilot: "No license, no registration, no plates, no headlights, no taillights, no WHEELS, and I caught you going 2945 miles per hour in excess of the posted limit!" To which the aliens dryly replies, "Great. There goes my insurance." Highly recommended ... that an CRITTERS! :D

Spaced Invaders is a cult classic and gets better with age.

Loved it, especially where one species is to protect versus taking control, along with one taking control and “power” over people, where the other creature gives powers to protect

This is one of the best truly horrifying movies of my childhood. I had nightmares about the mind-warehouses and Mr. Grey. Was it a great movie? Probably not, but it was impactful. And it has stayed with me.

Out of all the reviewers on yt, you and Roanoke are by far my favorites to watch and listen to.

I'm pretty sure the comedy in the film is intentional because the book is absolutely fucking hilarious😂 I'd definitely categorize it as Horror/Dark Comedy

I had all but convinced myself that this film was a fever dream I invented when I was a kid. And yet here it is! Incredible, I'm gonna go watch it now :D

I watch this about once a year. I really liked this movie. Too bad it flew under the radar.

Oh my God I remembered scenes from this movie and thought they were from other films, and was constantly confused when they didn't show up in the ones I thought they were in.

The toothy serpent in Dreamcatcher looks like a miniature version of the thing that ate the dog food in the back room of the grocery store in The Mist. Both are Stephen King adaptations.

I remembered seen this monster as a child but always thought that is was just a bad dream from childhood, in the end it was a real movie.

I can never remember the exact line, but at one point, freeman's character talks about how the can wrap up the executions by early afternoon like he's talking about a mundane task. I found it so funny, and I think it's a good example of the style this movie had.

There's a bit in the book where it's made clear Kurtz is faking. He's got shallow affect to be sure, but he's also Patton-ing it up. Morgan Freeman has to play a sociopath with very effective superficial charm... and that's outside his wheelhouse.

Another great video! I always appreciate the work and effort you put into these, it does not go unnoticed. Also, this one may be different than normal, but could you please make a video on “the professional” (1994) it’s my favorite movie and I would love to see what you have to say.

I really liked this movie. It's got it's real eye-rolling moments, but it's based on King's writing so I've learned to suspend my disbelief at least a little bit when it comes to adaptations of his work. Jason Lee is actually pretty good in this film too.

I remember having seen this when I was really young and thought I had just been having a really weird fever dream. Then years later, I find the book and it all comes back to me. Despite this, still really liked the story set up of Duttors's friendship being the reason the reason they had powers. Oddly sweet for a Stephen King novel.

Great movie. One of the best Stephen King adaptations ever imo. Over IT and all million other films based off his books. Straight had me laughing so hard at times and was also terrifying. Like anything King, the ending gets wild, but the overall story is 👌🏾.

'Dreamcatcher' is one of the weirdest movie mash-ups I've ever seen. Sci-fi, horror, action, coming of age, drama - it's going several directions, simultaneously. But, it's great fun. :) I have to wonder, though; did it have a negative impact on Lawrence Kasdan's career? It seemed like he was directing several big movies, one after the other, until 'Dreamcatcher'.

I enjoyed the BTS where Timothy Olyphant kept bugging Damian Lewis over if he was related to Daniel Day Lewis (he's not). That's about as much as I can say about this movie. It was a weird trip... It's not awful. It had interesting ideas and a good cast, just wished the execution was better.

Yeah all of his books are connected in the same universe. Basically Pennywise in theory represents a lot of the evils and/or creatures in his stories since he is a shapeshifter without getting too deep in the lore

That’s a loaded cast, might have to revisit this. I don’t remember it being particularly good but it could be worth a rewatch.

One of Stephen King's most underrated stories.

So I haven’t read the book but I do know it contains a really cool bit of info that’s sadly left out of the film. IT Lives! This is written on the back of the welcome to Derry sign in red liquid as they are passing though, so it was about this time that it started to be known that almost all the king books are part of the same setting and dream catcher and IT are on the same version of earth and that DC (I’m shortening the name) happens a few years after the IT book, it turns out that killing a cosmic entity is a bit harder than the losers club thought.

Hey! Stranger Things and Dreamcatcher have a lot in common! They both have extraterrestrial/interdimensional races that are a Hive Mind! Really cool! 😎

This was a really good movie and I'm glad it's getting recognition because when it came out i remember talking to people about this movie and almost everyone didn't know what i was talking about. They had never even heard of this movie before.

I will never understand how Beaver was so determined to grab that damned toothpick. I kinda liked his character lol.

As an alien invasion fan, I actually find that movie hilarious, even though it wasn’t meant to be a comedy.

A really underapreciatted film that is genuinely close to the novel. Despite the changes it still manages to keep the message of the story true.

A truly underrated movie, one of my favorite aliens movies.

I read the book 7 years ago, and King himself said in a 2014 interview that he regrets writing it in the first place, and I agree.

I absolutely loved this movie. King is sooo good at creating stories that span decades and this is no different. Both the old flashbacks and modern scenes combine seamlessly to create one of Kings' better movie adaptations. Thomas Jane must also love King as he has appeared in multiple movies from the prolific author. Anyways, if you haven't seen this and are looking to spend some time watching it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The flashbacks give off a sort of It and Stand By Me vibe. While the modern scenes provide us with a well put together Sci fi suspense movie. Think I'll take the time to rewatch this one soon to help pass the SSDD monotony that is life lol. While some may not agree, this is 2 hours well spent with great casting choices too imho 😊 some people just aren't fans of King's works which is just unfortunate. That said, his books are amazing while his films at times can stuggle. This one did a great job. 👍🏾

YES, HELLO, HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎉🥳🎈🎈🎊 I remember watching this on HBO and thought to myself, "WTF is this movie!?" Lol!! The plot made no sense at all, whatsoever! It may have an all star cast, but my god, what was Stephen King thinking? Had no idea Lawrence Kasden, writer of Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi and Raiders Of The Lost Ark directed this B movie. I found out that he wrote the book of the same name while he was high on Oxycontin when he was hit by a van a year earlier.

Something I like about the character interactions in this movie is that Colonial Kurtz is an antagonist, but he's not evil. In fact, if you go by D&D alignment, he would be Lawful Good. His intentions are to save the planet. He knows that the aliens will use cute, sympathetic forms and control people to gain support. But he knows not to be swayed. It's all an act, and anyone who's seen the true form or know their intentions would never look at the deceptions the same again. Honestly, I wouldn't say he does anything wrong in this movie. He's heavy handed and ruthless, but when your talking about an intelligent alien infection that can destroy the planet if it gets a solid foothold, being heavy handed and ruthless is exactly what is needed. You don't pull weeds without also disrupting the soil or killing the plants around them because the weeds are where the desired plants are. And, if an entire field gets infected, the only option is to burn the field. Maybe even salt it to be sure it doesn't come back. It's terrible and scarring, but, when the stakes are the rest of the planet, it's just the price that needs to be paid, and next time you pull the weeds before those extreme measures are needed.

Read the book before seeing the movie. I was genuinely excited to see the it, and unfortunately it was a bit of a let down. One of the really critical aspects about the book is the great amount of description, inner dialog, and scene setup that doesn't translate into movie form. For example the gross out factor of when the guy dies on the can in the cabin can't compare to what's in the book. You get a much greater sense of disgust for what's going on. I think it did a really good job trying to be faithful to the source material and was a lot better than other King works turned into movies or limited series. I think it's worth watching but I will always recommend the book over the movie.

I remember seeing this movie when it came out I loved it, still love it. It's honestly one of my favorite movies Dreamcatcher is awesome. Little off the walls sometimes but great!

This was a classic and a masterpiece.

I randomly picked up this book years ago, fantastic read.

Was a fun movie.

I must've misread the title. I thought this was an explanation of the creature & the creature's origin, not a play-by-play of the entire movie.

This is one of my favorite movies and I had no idea Donnie Wahlberg was the actor that played Dudditz!! And while looking this up I just realized that he was also in the Sixth Sense. 😵 My mind is totally blown right now!
