The odd discussion about sacrifices is related to the previous comeback (OOTD) and the new one (JUSTICE) where there as been an online Alternate Reality Game (ARG) involved where social media accounts have posted cryptic clues and story along with videos images, etc related to the plotlines of the MVs. This time around, based on clues, Korean fans had to travel to 7 bus stations around the city that formed the shape of a crown on the map to get airdropped image clues that were then used to determine the comeback date, title track name and other details. We do things different here with Dreamcatcher.

I completely agree with you on not wanting to get spoiled of their songs with guides. There is a fan channel called Insominicy that has a playlist to get to know the members better called "This is series". I don't believe it really has any song spoilers and mainly just showcases the girls chaotic personalities lol

You got the plot right, except they are not ghosts they are actually nightmares. In Good Night the nightmare hunter traps 1 of the members and wants to trap the other 6, in return they break out and trap him inside the mirror. In the end we can see themrunning into the forest, that's because theyare looking for a new place to torment people. The next song Fly High is a prequel to this 2 songs, there you'll see how this happened, and after Fly high the story resumes Btw, a curiosity of this arc, each member represents a fear or phobia in nightmares: JiU - Diokophobia (Fear of being chased by someone) SuA - Merinthophobia (Fear of restraint or being tied up) Siyeon - Claustrophobia (Fear of being locked in a narrow space) Handong - Scopophobia (Fear of being observed or stared at) Yoohyeon - Mazeophobia (Fear of getting lost in an unknown place) Dami - Algophobia (Fear of pain or getting hurt) Gahyeon - Basophobia (Fear of falling from a high place)

"Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did. This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night. Good Night is one of their heavier releases, and I love it. The K-Rock girl group Rolling Quartz also did an excellent cover of it. The Nightmare hunter casts spells to trap the members, but they get the book from him and turn it against him, trapping him behind the mirror. The next song in the Nightmare arc, "Fly High", is from the album "Prequel", which is a strong hint to consider. 😉 That is also a very interesting song.

Really ebjoying your Dreamcatcher journey! As far as guides go, the "This is..." series of guides on the "Insomnicsy" channel does an extremely good job of getting to know the characters with very minimal spoiling of their songs. There are 7-minute segments for each member for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. You could opt to react to all 4 for each member at one time, or all for 7 members for each year. Most Insomnias advise reactors to start at the beginning (2020), because some context could be lost when starting with 2023. Kit of Insomnicsy has a wealth of funny compilations that showcase the hot, cute, multi-talented crackheads we adore.

One very cool thing about Chase Me is to remember that it was their debut song, and rock isn’t popular in kpop-so outside of the context of the MV, they’re literally saying that they’re not going to follow trends to try and appeal to people; they’re gonna do their own thing and people are gonna have to chase after THEM. Glad you liked the songs!!! Don’t worry if you have trouble identifying the members in the early videos, cuz looks do change a lot over seven years, and Siyeon especially I think looks quite different now than she did when she was young. But she was the girl in the mirror at the beginning of Good Night and the one in the striped black and white dress in Chase Me who was holding the door closed to the hunter’s room. The tl;dr of the Lore is that the girls represent different nightmares that haunt this hotel and torment people in their dreams, and their power as nightmares is contained in the spellbook you saw. The man who comes is a nightmare hunter and when he gets his hands on the book, they fight back, trapping him instead and freeing themselves from the hotel using the book’s power. Then it seems like they, or at least Dami, decides to abandon the book in the woods so no one else can find it.

I have been traveling the past 1.5 days, so I haven't had a chance to watch anything since the OOTD reaction. I just wanted to say I think you're pretty good at picking up on the plot of the MV, and also doing a good job voicing your thoughts about it for the audience. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, but I feel like it's always satisfying when someone doing reactions actually points out the things I as a viewer want to see if the notice. Since you've already finished the Nightmare Series, here is an overly wordy explanation of my theory of the series' plot: This hotel was the mansion the girls lived in/went to school in during the 'Sky High' M/V. JiU caught that spider out of curiosity and accidentally trapped all of them in its dreamworld web. (At least, thats my interpretation of intent. Nothing has been explained really so there are a bunch of theories. I've always thought the timeline was Sky High->Chase Me->Good Night->You and I->What->Piri/Breaking Out, and my theory follows that order. Some people put Good Night and Chase Me at the end after all the others instead, I think.) Yoohyeon burning it always struck me as her correctly figuring out it was the spiders fault, but guessing incorrectly how to escape (as opposed to freeing it. Or maybe they found out if they freed it, it would still kill them?). JiU ended up sealing them all away, and they eventually became some sort of "nightmare spirits" that haunted the location even after it became a hotel. The Ghost Detective shows up because he hunts ghosts, and based on the events of 'Good Night', tries to destroy ghosts as well. The girls somehow use the spellbook he has (I don't remember if it was in Sky High) to become "human" again and end up trapping him away instead. Even after they are free the spider comes back in 'You and I' after Yoohyeon specifically for burning it. She gets trapped back in the dreamworld. Yoohyeon's body is possessed and begins to terrorize the rest of the girls. They catch on and exorcise it, but Yoohyeon is still gone. 'What' is them trying to find her spirit, I think, with the snow globe symbolizing a crystal ball. Presumably they find it. In 'Piri' (and/or 'Breaking Out') they find the dreamworld location and go to try to rescue her. They definitely reunite, but it's unclear if they actually escape. I choose to believe they do based on the vibe of 'Breaking Out'. I'm interested to see what your theories end up being as I watch the rest! And of course, how you like the Dystopia trilogy. I think all the different series are all different universe versions of the dreamcatcher girls. I'm sure it's possible for the universes to crossover. The most recent duology as well as 'BEcause' work with this theory in my opinion as well.

It's harder to tell the girls apart in these earlier MVs since they dress the same and don't dye their hair as much as they do nowadays. Don't worry about identifying Siyeon, it will come naturally.
