DISTANT MEMORIES - LIVE IN LONDON - Out now! dream-theater.lnk.to/DistantM...
Two-time GRAMMY-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater are back with the latest live installment to their impressive thirty-one-year catalog of releases. Recorded at their sold-out show at the Apollo Theatre in London, Distant Memories - Live In London documents the band’s popular world tour in support of their latest critically acclaimed studio album Distance Over Time and the 20-year anniversary of their seminal concept album Metropolis Part 2 - Scenes From A Memory.
“Whether you had a chance to see this tour in person and want to relive what was hopefully an awesome concert experience or enjoying the performance on video for the first time, Distant Memories - Live In London very accurately and very beautifully captures the energy and excitement we all felt together at the Apollo this past February,” explains guitarist John Petrucci.
Distant Memories - Live In London is the band’s first since 2014’s Breaking the Fourth Wall. The new live release is available in various configurations including digital only, a 3-CD and 2 DVD multibox, a 3-CD and 2 Blu-Ray digipak with slipcase, a limited deluxe 3-CD + 2 Blu-Ray + 2 DVD Artbook and a limited 4-LP and 3-CD box set. I remember taking my dad to a show and while they performed this song he just sat and cried. Dad was an incredible keyboard player and Dream Theater was our last concert together. He was slowly passing away from Congestive Heart Failure. I shared the stage with him for 13 years before his spirit finally carried on. He is truly missed

@@patricksoderstrom3696 thank you. He suffered for many years. The show was great. Dad couldn't stand anymore. We were in the 6th row. The guys in the front saw dad struggling to see so they brought him up there and he was able to sit and still see the show. After the show dad kept telling me that we needed to build his rig like Jordan's so it could tilt. He had a blast. He had never seen them before.

They say, life is too short The here and the now And you're only given one shot But could there be more Have I lived before Or could this be all that we've got? If I die tomorrow I'd be all right Because I believe That after we're gone The spirit carries on I used to be frightened of dying I used to think death was the end But that was before I'm not scared anymore I know that my soul will transcend I may never find all the answers I may never understand why I may never prove What I know to be true But I know that I still have to try If I die tomorrow I'd be alright Because I believe That after we're gone The spirit carries on Move on, be brave Don't weep at my grave Because I am no longer here But please never let Your memory of me disappear Safe in the light that surrounds me Free of the fear and the pain My questioning mind Has helped me to find The meaning in my life again Victoria's real I finally feel At peace with the girl in my dreams And now that I'm here It's perfectly clear I found out what all of this means If I die tomorrow I'd be alright Because I believe That after we're gone The spirit carries on

I agree. People want to believe so they can better cope with the fact that this is it. The inevitable is coming. We were dead for 13 billion years. We will be dead for much longer. But we also die (from a consciousness perspective) every night in our sleep. We welcome it. When that alarm goes off we want more of it. But only when we know we’ll be back. That last rest. It’ll be the final one. YOLO.

I want to share my story of why this song is so incredibly special to me. 2019, I lost my Dad to heart failure, he was 59. He didn't drink, nor did he smoke...there was just a bunch of health complications for a number of years. He was a avid drummer, including teaching the local drum line for more over a decade. More importantly, he was the biggest Dream Theater fan...He absolutely loved you guys. He took me to see you guys on the Gigantour with Megadeth, I was 16. I remember hearing this song, but not ever truly understanding the meaning behind it. When Dad was sick in the ICU he called me and wanted to talk arrangements, he told me he wanted this song to be played at his funeral. He fell asleep right after we got off the phone and passed away at 12:12 the next day, just like how you wrote in this song. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this, without it I wouldn't have this special moment with my old man.

Hey Milos. I was there too. Honest to god, had heard this song a million times before (studio and various live versions) but hearing it live is a journey in itself ❤️
What words can express how I felt while listening to this fantastic song? Every single time.
What a song, what a performance and what an audience. Absolutely incredible!
Listening to this because a friend who recommended me this song to learn on guitar have passed away just recently and gutted we haven't jammed this song together.
Evetime I listen to this masterpiece...I'm left in tears with a peculiar joy of the fact that "life is more than what we think of it"
This band actually make me more courage once I hear this song. I have listened so many song but this song is really amazing can beat another songs Love this song so much ❤
The Dream Theater plays big role in my life, since I've started listen them till today's targets and routine
3:38 - 3:44. The man in the front row really knows how to enjoy great music. Wish I could be there too.
And spécial dedication to my father and all people that not here today, you know who you are, love you forevet
The soul that listens to this song, won't die
3:39 - 3:44 The best air drummer having the time of his life, I love it.
My whole life from the moment I was kicked out of my mom’s womb to till now, flashes in front of my eyes while I listen to this alone, almost feeling as I’m a matter without mass floating through time and space, with tears rolling down my cheeks and eyes wide shut ! To the future generations: Don’t let this masterpiece die.
One of the greatest song with deep meaning for me.
No other DT song moves people more than this one. It's magical.
'If i die tomorrow, i'll be alright because i believe that after we're gone, spirit carries on... '
Reminds me of my school days I used to listen to this song on loop and used to sing this song in the classroom. I forgot how beautiful this song was until I was sitting and just hummed this song. I loved this song and i still love it this song is a miracle by dream theater a song that touched my life. Thankyou Dream Theater for creating the music that was with me and will be with me in my future endeavours ❤️
i always feel like crying listening to this song. One is because it is the song my mother loved singing and the other is seeing them here knowing that i'll never be able to attend their Concert ever!
This is one of my favorite songs as I lost my brother to whom we shared so many plays since we were kids. He was a genius in producing musicians and also one greatest drummer. I still play guitar but each time I hear this song, I know I will be joining him in heaven as spirit carries on...
Solid concert. Solid CD Solid DVD. Greatness all around.
What a beautiful song. And one of the best guitar solos ever :´)
Love this live performance, so far this is the best live performance for This song

I truly believe that the value of a performance doesn't lay in between the notes, the chords and the lyrics, but it is found on the faces of the people in the crowd, in their eyes, in their emotions. Look at that crowd exploding in joy, and how that reflects on James's LaBries smile. I love this guy so much for what he brings on the stage. We always praise Petrucci, Rudess, Mangini, Myung. Let's give James LaBrie the credit he deserves, he's one thing with the crowd in this song, man his energy and joy is a pure reflection of all of the emotions flying in those people singing along, lighting up their phones, playing along air drums and air guitars. What a blast of a performance.

same with me.. with lot of memories. and this life is just too short
This performance had me in tears, such emotion not felt for a long time. 'If I should die tomorrow, I might not have time to say Goodbye'.
Cant bear my tears falling, this song reminds me to my deceased father. Thx for made a masterpiece Dream Theatre, all the best for you 🙏🏼
Aku jadi rindu dgn ayah aku bila dengar lagu2 dreamtheater..Terutama lagu ni dgn the best of time..Aku rindu kenangan masa ayah aku marah aku suruh belajar gitar betul2 sbb dia pon gitaris..Dia fan berat John Petrucci smpai aku pon dia ajar play lagu2 petrucci..Mmg semua medal yg aku dh dpt, hanya sbb dia..Tp dia x sempat tengok..Aku still smpn chord2 touge yg dia tulis sndri utk ajar aku..Skg aku plk ajar cucu2 dia..Miss you my hero..
I'm 28 and pretty happy that It has been my favorite band for each and every year since I was 13. Hope you all young folk could make meaningful and great connections with several DT songs.

I am 24, I discovered the legacy of Dream Theater, when I was 18.. and have to say, nothing better could happen to me
This is the first time I've heard this. So beautiful
I want comment again and again and again when i hear this song..so many memories in this song..looovveee in my deep heart
That is the epitome of a guitar solo. You can’t get better than that. The feeling , the technique , the nuances , the built up. The song it’s perfect in it self. A pure moment of inspiration and genius. What a band .
OMG this song gave me a lot of memories when I was a teen, pretty much still listen to this song whenever it crossed my mind!
This is so powerful and emotional. I'm here, after 20 years and I still cry every time. Definitely a masterpiece.
In this moment of loss of my other dad, my father in law, dad of my beloved wife, and grandfather of my son, is a song like this that helps me go through these days of mourn. It's hard, but music helps everything, I still hope that someday will bring peace to this world
Exist songs that are so meaningful in our lifes, this is definitely one of those... Knowing this song was a gift from someone in my life very special... I told her: This is one of the best gifts in my entire life, thank you! And i believe it will be forever... !
This song and these lyrics go extremely deep into me whenever I hear this song, each time my eyes get wet! This song gives comfort for those who believe, that physical death on earth is not the final act played for our spirit.

I believe this life is all there is and still this song comforts me. It also motivates me to make my music and share it with my friends. Somehow I feel like I can share parts of myself through my crappy music, and that I think is enough for my spirit to carry on.
