Whenever I can't decide between listening to Kansas or Rush, I listen to Dream Theater...Dream Theater is a prog metal blend of those two bands

Every time I watch a Dream Theater video, the lyrics to AC DC's Let There Be Rock come to mind "There were 15 million fingers learnin' how to play", except these fingers know how to play!

Yous guys were fabUlous. There are so many things I look for in Dream Theater reactions, and you guys hit them all. The 1st thing is, when the song is over and it's time for you to speak, (you did it last time too,) you have to pause just to gather your thoughts. Your mind is racing so much from all the data they just hurreled on you that your not sure what to say first. But you pulled it off. Now John Petrucci (guitar) and John Myung (bass) are also original members along with Mike Portnoy (drummer). And there all from New York City suburbs. And Yes that was Jordan Rudess (keyboardes) from the other video. This one was shot in 2004 and the other was 2014. Jordan's been playing with them since 1999, and is still with them today. I really hope you're enjoying this because I saw a burning in your soul for some good music. Dream Theater are BiG fans of Frank too. In fact, they do tributes in parts of there music to him. I'll be sending another reaction video request later. In this one were going to listen to a side band of Dream Theater's they started right before Jordan joined in 1999. Everyone in it is from Dream Theater except for the Bass. And the Bassist is, Tony Levin from King Crimson. Tony's been playing with them since the start, and just finished a new album with them about 3 months ago. The band is called Liquid Tension Experiment, and they consist of Mike Portnoy (drummer), John Petrucci (guitar) Tony Levin (bassist from King Crimson) and Jordan Rudess (Keyboards). And you are right, all these musicians in this band are virtuosos, and pretty much have been since they started back in 1984 as Majesty. Berkley school of Music was a bore for them after a year there, so they quit and formed Dream Theater. And, your welcome. I'm glad you like them.

Dream Theater is great along with Liquid Tension Experiment. Dixie Dregs with Steve Morse on guitar is great for stepping into souped up chamber music with more jazz/country influence instead of the metal side of prog.

My concern with DT is that they can be too hectic (becomes tiring), like they played everything at 11 for 10 mins too long. Slower tempo and pacing adds colour and negative space which in turn emphasises the dramatic parts. Mr. Z knows this. If you want metallised modern prog, try Porcupine Tree (or their younger bro, The Pineapple Thief - excellent in their own right). You've had Anaesthetize from PT, try Last Man Standing from TPT's All The Wars

I tried to give you some new direction on what to focus on with your reactions. The only other artist that I see beating Dream theater is Frank Zappa. Pretty soon and your gonna run out of Frank, then where do you go. Dream Theater views are going thru the roof. The last request that I gave you ran into a wall. I didn't understand why you weren't interested in More subs and views. The last request was a band that consist of three members of Dream Theater, hence continuing the trend. I had unsubscribed from your page cuz you just don't seem interested in them to much. Liquid Tension Experiment was the group I requested. But you have other ways that gets plays. Ok.. If I'm gonna pay 5 dollars a month then I should get at least one request. Otherwise I'm just paying for a vote, and that isn't why I subscribed. I was wanting to help your page out. Now I have to find someone else. Everyone the reacts to DT has their KZread page going thru the roof. These guys are # 1, 2, and 3 in the World right now with the new Album. Your missing out.

lol Michael don’t take things so personally. We have almost 200 patrons now and if everybody got a song every month we would be working ourselves to death to try to keep up. We have an tier that includes a reaction every month, but it sold out. If you would like a spot we can open one up for you :) It takes a lot of time to do this and we try out best to give back to our patrons. If you know of other channels that do specific reactions for individuals, then please let us know because we aren’t aware of it, and we would like to see how they do it. Thanks, S.A.D.

@@SightAfterDark Thank you for the personal response. I mean, you are a Response channel, sorta speak. lol!!. I totally get what your saying. I see other channels sometimes after discovering a New awesome band, take it upon themselves to play what's popular with this band, and I figured that because you ALL are from NY you might want to venture into it. You know? cash in. Frank will always be here too, but your killing off the crop with the overplay. I'm just trying to help you out. Dream Theater doesn't need any exposure, but I kinda thought you might. Lots a luv.

This piece is way too over the top for my taste. The reason many music fans loathe this band. But that's DT's thing. We know they can play but I'd rather listen to a good song. I recently picked up a few of their older albums including Awake, and Falling Into Infinity, which are pretty strong. If you want something heavier with more overdriven guitars and keyboards farther in the background, Train Of Thought is a good album.

@@aarnimiettinen5962 it's fine for a live performance but it's not something I need to hear more than once. Too much technical masturbation. I enjoy listening to Petrucci play riffs and composed parts but his solos are pretty boring. Typical shred displays with a million notes.
